Alejandro Diaz is a 2023 SS/RHP with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Norwalk, CA. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned to frame, addtional room to develop physically moving forward. Ran a 7.56 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, gets low behind the ball and moves well on feet, fields out front and shows a quick transfer out of glove, gets tall at release but nice arm strength and carry with accuracy across, maintains momentum through the ball and can drop slot with intent on throws. Also pitched, medium leg lift up to belt and shows athleticism on mound; compact arm stroke in the back and shows quickness working to a three-quarters release. Works mostly on top of the ball and creates plane, fastball topped out at 78 mph with angle, effort at release with some drop and drive off backside coming down the mound. Tightness to spin on curveball with short depth and 12-6 shape up to 66 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set in the box and utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Stays short to the ball and keeps hands inside with looseness to hands and path overall. Has a handle for the barrel and able to create some separation when on time, worked the middle of the field with best contact. Excellent student. Named to 14u Fall West Top Prospect List.
