Left handed bat really stood out in both BP and in game ABs. Good hand-eye coordination, balanced swing with good bat speed. Runs well, potential to develop power as he begins to fill out his long lean frame.

Conyal Cody  LHP - 2013 - Pacific Grove, CA   Uncommitted

Tall left hander who ran his fastball up to 87 mph with a smooth easy arm action. Hard spinning curveball up to 78 mph, has some upside with projection.

James Arevalo  2B - 2013 - La Puente, CA   Uncommitted

Jared Donahoe  OF - 2013 - Mission Viejo, CA   Saddleback College

Austin Irwin  RHP - 2013 - Escondido, CA   Uncommitted

2014 Top Prospects

Sean Bouchard  3B - 2014 - San Diego, CA   UCLA

Showed draftable tools across the board. Showed big time power in BP, hit well in games, threw 90 mph across the infield with very good defensive actions. Large projectable build, prototypical 3B prospect.

Scott Hurst  OF - 2014 - Glendora, CA   Cal State Fullerton

Continued to show outstanding tools across the board. Improved OF throwing velocity to career best 97 mph and improved 60 yard dash time to 6.59. Showed ability to hit for both average and power from the left side, also played MIF where he is developing well.

Jacob Nix  RHP - 2014 - Los Alamitos, CA   UCLA

Strong candidate for top overall prospect from the event, definite top pitching prospect from the event, in spite of presence of other highly talented pitchers. Good build, showed good command of 94 mph fastball, arm really works, big upside.

Tylor Megill  RHP - 2014 - Seal Beach, CA   Loyola Marymount

XL frame, long arm action, low effort upper 80s fastballs with projectable arm action. Topped out at 89 with late life and backed it with a potential plus curveball.

Jonathan Teaney  RHP - 2014 - Palmdale, CA   San Diego

Advanced pitching prospect who showed good command of upper 80s fastball and has been in the low 90s at PG events before and since, quality curveball and knows how to pitch. Also showed well with the bat.

Aaron Ping  SS - 2014 - San Diego, CA   San Francisco

Outstanding defensive actions in the infield, really stood out in games. Also showed big time hitting tools with good bat speed and raw power.

Kiko Garcia  RHP - 2014 - Chula Vista, CA   Pepperdine

Polished pitcher who showed good feel and pitchability, topped out at 89 with good command and a pair of quality offspeed pitches.

Jayson Rose  RHP - 2014 - Alpine, CA   Utah

Athletic pitcher who ran his fastball up to 90 mph and showed a promising curveball. Solid hitter as well.

Jordan Abernathy  3B - 2014 - La Verne, CA   UC Riverside

Strong athletic build with a high level bat, stood out in BP and then carried it over into the games.

Cheynne Giles  OF - 2014 - San Diego, CA   California Lutheran University

Continued development makes him a really promising hitting prospect with good peripheral run and throw tools for strong profile as an outfield prospect. Remaining physical projection gives potential for long term upside with further development.

Stephen Dubb  SS - 2014 - Pasadena, CA   Southern California

Continued to do what he does best: hit. Excellent game at-bat against (No. 4) Tylor Megill, hard line drive to left center field was the only hit Megill allowed in three otherwise dominant innings.

Big velocity jump over the past 12 months, increased velocity from topping out a 81 mph at the 2012 Sunshine West Showcase to 88 mph this year.

Ricky Tyler Thomas  LHP - 2014 - San Diego, CA   Fresno State

Highly projectable LHP, topped out at 84 but projects for much more with loose easy arm action and long athletic frame with plenty of room to fill. Also showed well with the bat as an outfielder.

Solid two-way player, good hitting tools and also up to 85 mph on the mound.

Big athletic outfield prospect, skills still catching up to tools but has big long term upside once he starts to put the pieces together.

Strong bodied RHP up to 87 mph with good control and solid three pitch mix.

David Hensley  3B - 2014 - San Diego, CA   San Diego State

Two-way prospect who only played 3B in this event, likely would have ranked higher had he shown the same high level ability on the mound that he later showed at the WWBA 17u National Championship. Tall athletic build, well coordinated, impressive hitting tools.

Brett Weisberg  SS - 2014 - Calabasas, CA   Uncommitted

Standout hitter with emerging power, also mid 80s on the mound.

Strong bodied corner infielder, showed well with the bat and displayed very good footwork defensively.
