2013 Top Prospects

Drew Ward  SS - 2013 - Leedey, OK   Oklahoma

Getting bigger and stronger and now 6-4/210, top level bat speed and power potential, ball explodes off his bat, athletic enough to play shortstop now but move to third base inevitable, tools and skills resemble Jim Thome at the same age.

Bradley Zunica  1B - 2013 - Bradenton, FL   Miami

Big 6-5/215 body gets your attention right away, two-way prospect as a RHP/1B, has big power from the left side of the plate, ball comes off the barrel hard, up to 87 mph on the mound with good feel for his off speed pitches.

2014 Top Prospects

Nicholas Gordon  SS - 2014 - Windermere, FL   Florida State

Top level prospect both at shortstop and on the mound, has all the tools and actions on defense, present bat speed, up to 91 mph with a hammer as a RHP, huge big league bloodlines.

Jacob Bukauskas  RHP - 2014 - Ashburn, VA   North Carolina

Young projectable build, present fastball to 88 mph, can really spin the ball hard and has a potential plus curveball, good feel for his change up, too.

Bennett Sousa  LHP - 2014 - North Palm Beach, FL   Virginia

Mature and polished 6-3/175 southpaw who still projects physically, fastball up to 91 mph with very good life, shows feel for both his curveball and change up, plus command potential. All the tools/skills you want to see in a young lefty.

Michael Kopech  RHP - 2014 - Mount Pleasant, TX   Arizona

Most projectable arm/body at the Metrodome, lean, loose and athletic at 6-4/195, very fastall, fastball up to 92 mph with life, throws better from the stretch when he has to simplify his delivery and arm action.

David Peterson  LHP - 2014 - Denver, CO   Oregon

6-6/215 but very athletic and coordinated, sits in the upper 80's with outstanding fastball life and pounds the strike zone, good feel for a mid 70's curveball, projects very well, also a prospect level first baseman.

Gregory Deichmann  SS - 2014 - Metairie, LA   Louisiana State

Put his stamp on the showcase with a titanic upper deck BP home run at the Metrodome, huge bat speed and pull power from the left side, 6.76 runner but profiles best at third base as he fills in his 6-2/180 frame.

Alex Lange  RHP - 2014 - Lee's Summit, MO   Louisiana State

Most dominant pitcher at the Jr National, mixed three excellent pitches with maturity, fastball to 91 mph, hard upper 70's curveball and a simply outstanding 80 mph split finger fastball; not real projectable but doesn't need to get much better.

Liam Sabino  SS - 2014 - East Stroudsburg, PA   Vanderbilt

One of the big surprises of the showcase, top level defensive tools and instincts and projects to stay at shortstop for a long time, right handed line drive hitter with some pop in his bat, fun to watch play.

Brady Aiken  LHP - 2014 - Cardiff by the Sea, CA   Uncommitted

Big bodied 6-3/210 southpaw, polished pitcher with all the pitches and plus command potential, consistent upper 80's fastball, power mid 70's curveball with late bite, good feel for his change up, gets outs quickly and efficiently.

Andrew Karp  RHP - 2014 - Winter Garden, FL   Florida State

Athletic right hander who throws with very good downhill angle to his pitches, fastball topped out at 91 mph, sharp short curveball could develop into a power slider with more velocity, nice change up, pitches with maturity.

Cameron Varga  RHP - 2014 - Loveland, OH   North Carolina

Quality all-around athlete, power arm on the mound, steady 91-93 mph, touch 94 mph with life, off speed stuff is improving, has college level hitting and defensive tools as a third baseman.

Ryan Castellani  RHP - 2014 - Phoenix, AZ   Arizona State

Outstanding athletic build at 6-4/190, very good all around athlete, fastball was up to 92 mph with a promising 79 mph slider, also a high level outfield prospect with 6.9 speed and big right handed power potential at the plate.

Ryder Ryan  RHP - 2014 - Huntersville, NC   North Carolina

Very versatile 6-2/195 athlete, huge arm strength at C/3B/RF, 7.13 runner, best future projection is behind the plate, right handed hitter with lots of present and future power, also upper 80's off the mound.

Justin Bellinger  1B - 2014 - Weston, MA   Duke

6-6/230 build gets immediate attention, very athletic and coordinated for his size, keeps swing surprising short for his size, huge power potential from the left side, ball sounds different coming off the bat.

Montrell Marshall  SS - 2014 - Snellville, GA   Auburn

Basketball player's body at 6-4/180 but has very smooth and graceful infield actions, very talented athletically and still growing into body/coordination, right handed hitter with bat speed and good barrel skills, lots to project.

John Thomas Mauldin  OF - 2014 - Baton Rouge, LA   New Orleans/Baton Rouge CC

Strong and mature right handed hitter at 6-1/200, ball really comes off the barrel well, big future power potential, very good athlete as well with 6.87 straight away speed and mid 80's arm strength off the mound.

Carl Chester  OF - 2014 - Longwood, FL   Miami

6.74 in the 60 but 4.02/4.07 from the right side in games, very quick with a fast motor, quick twitch swing with gap power, will hit lots of triples, top game performer offensively, ball player.

Kyle Marsh  RHP - 2014 - Port Orange, FL   UCF

Very athletic young player, loose 6-2/180 build, up to 91 mph on the mound with a hard spinning mid 70's curveball, will have to tone down delivery effort, can also play the middle infield at a high level and swing the bat.

Jakson Reetz  C - 2014 - Hickman, NE   Nebraska

Multi-talented athlete from a small school in Nebraska, best position behind the plate but athletic enough for OF/3B, has the bat to play at any position, also throws upper 80's off the mound

Justin Smith  OF - 2014 - St. Johns, FL   Miami

Very impressive combination of speed (6.71) and strength (6-1/195), definitely looks the part and is a high level athlete, big raw bat speed but has some developing to do with his swing mechanics and timing.

Jack Gerstenmaier  SS - 2014 - Richmond, VA   Virginia

Quality all around athlete, 6.6 runner, 90 mph arm strength across the infield, has present strength with the bat, solid defensive actions at shortstop but could end up playing any position on the field.

Jake Jarvis  RHP - 2014 - Spring, TX   Texas A&M

High level two-way prospect, really impressed with his improvement offensively, very good bat speed and swing mechanics, topped out at 91 mph on the mound, big arm strength, pitching mechanics also improved.

Stone Garrett  OF - 2014 - Sugar Land, TX   Rice

6.7 runner with very good defensive instincts in the outfield and a strong arm, bat was inconsistent this event but it was the only time during the summer he didn't crush the ball consistently.

John Jones  C - 2014 - Orlando, FL   Miami

Switch-hitting catcher with legit bat speed and hitting ability from both sides, has a mature controlled aggressive to his hitting approach, has all the physical tools to become a top line catcher defensively.

Tate Blackman  SS - 2014 - Altamonte Springs, FL   Mississippi

Raw tools don't stand out but skills and ability to play the game do, plays defense with ease, balance and maturity and makes all the plays, right handed hitter who has surprising power when he squares it up.

Charlie Cody  3B - 2014 - Chesapeake, VA   Virginia

High energy player, runs a 6.6 and probably playing out of position athletically at third base, belongs in the middle of the field, aggressive right handed hitter with gap power at the plate, good bet to keep improving.

Jeremy Vasquez  1B - 2014 - Palm City, FL   Florida

Very advanced hitter, sees the ball exceptionally well and will square up everything, very good bat speed, should hit for power and average, athleticism playable for both LF and 1B.

Keith Weisenberg  RHP - 2014 - Seminole, FL   Stanford

Long and lean projectable body at 6-4/185, could end up being the hardest thrower in the 2014 class, was up to 89 mph but his arm was very loose and fast, would not be surprising to see him as a mid 90's thrower next summer.

Luke Spangler  LHP - 2014 - Cape Coral, FL   Miami

Very young body at 6-0/150 but outstanding athlete who really projects, was up to 87 off the mound with command and a nice curveball/change up combination, also a 6.9 runner who graded out as the top defensive outfielder at the showcase.

Luis Alvarado  SS - 2014 - Salinas, PR   Nebraska

Primary outfielder coming in but future is on the mound, 6-4/190 with a long and very loose build, arm works very well, fastball up to 90 mph with hard curveball spin, 6.8 runner, coltish athlete who really projects physically.

Braden Webb  RHP - 2014 - Owasso, OK   South Carolina

Loose young 6-4/185 build, sound delivery mechanics, fastball was up to 88 mph, best pitch is a 74 mph curveball with hard spin and big downer depth, should continue to improve in all areas.

JJ Matijevic  1B - 2014 - North Huntingdon, PA   Arizona

One tool player but the bat is a very, very good tool, left handed hitter with bat speed and power, ball sounds different coming off his barrel, has some polish and the ability to square the ball up, playable defensive tools at third base, first base future likely.

Mac Marshall  LHP - 2014 - Lilburn, GA   Chipola College

Very athletic 6-2/180 southpaw, runs a 6.6 60, fastball was up to 88 mph with good life, big breaking curveball and fading change up are promising future weapons, has some delivery adjustments to make but has all the tools.

Branden Kelliher  RHP - 2014 - Lake Stevens, WA   Oregon

Middle infielder's build at 5-10/165 but has a big arm, fastball to 91 mph and throws a big true 12/6 downer curveball along with a quality change up, has the raw stuff to overmatch hitters and did frequently.

Spencer Adams  RHP - 2014 - Cleveland, GA   Georgia

Very projectable 6-4/180 right hander, loose arm, fastball to 88 mph, can really spin the ball, hard curveball up to 77 mph has hard spin and sharp bite, young pitching mechanics but has high ceiling potential.

Dominick Cammarata  C - 2014 - Asheville, NC   Tennessee

Strong bodied 6-2/205 receiver, defensive really stood out in game action, very high energy blocker, outstanding accuracy on throws, takes charge, strong right handed swing with power potential.

Bryce Carter  C - 2014 - Tulsa, OK   Stanford

Left handed hitting catcher with good present strength, bat is his best tool, smooth low effort swing with bat speed, can drive the ball with authority. Good athlete behind the plate, good arm strength.

Tommy Pincin  C - 2014 - Upland, CA   San Diego State

Very athletic young catcher, runs a 6.8, shows his athleticism behind the plate, very good arm strength, probably can play all over the field, short and fast right handed swing with gap power.

Sam Proctor  RHP - 2014 - Sarasota, FL   Pittsburgh

Strong 6-1/190 build, has a loose and fast arm, fastball up to 90 mph now but there's more in there, throws a power curveball as his second pitch.

2015 Top Prospects

Nicholas Shumpert  SS - 2015 - Lone Tree, CO   San Jacinto CC

Son of former MLB infielder Terry Shumpert, has very advanced tools and skills for his age, potential 5-tool player, present bat speed and power, 6.7 runner, solid middle infield actions.

Brandon Perez  SS - 2015 - Ladera Ranch, CA   Southern California

Very polished player, mature beyond his years, top level actions defensively, right handed hitter with present bat speed and some power, only tool lacking is his speed.

Luke Alexander  SS - 2015 - Belmont, MS   Mississippi State

Very promising middle infielder defensively, moves through the ball very well, good arm strength, 7.1 runner, switch-hitter with developing bat speed, especially from the right side.

Danny Blair  OF - 2015 - Bel Air, MD   South Carolina

strong 5-10/185 build for his age, has present bat speed, 6.81 runner with good quick twitch athleticism.
