Luke Spangler is a 2014 LHP/OF with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Cape Coral, FL who attends Cape Coral HS. Loose slender athletic build, some developing strength. Easy well paced delivery, full arm circle, extended high 3/4's release, loose fast arm, clean release. Mid 80's fastball, topped at 87 mph, will turn over 2-seamer at 82 mph, big downer curveball, good spin and some bite, has feel for his change up. Very projectable arm, going to throw much harder in future with added strength. Very athletic outfielder, 6.88 runner, strong arm with plus accuracy, easy actions. Left handed hitter, short swing from wide base, keeps hands tight, good bat control, pull approach, squares up well. Enough tools to be a legit two-way prospect but brighter mound future. Excellent student, verbal commitment to Miami.
