Navy vs. White Game Highlights

6/9/2019

Bryce Ketelsen (2021 1B, Port Byron, IL) had a strong day at the plate on Sunday with a pair of hits. In his first at-bat, Ketelsen drove a ball deep to the gap in right field for a double. The left-handed bat followed the double up with a hard single through the four hole in second trip to the plate. Ketelsen has a pull side approach at the plate, and the ball jumps off the barrel when he catches it out front.

Braeden Lock (2022 RHP, Highlands Ranch, CO) had the hardest hit ball of the day, ripping a double off the wall in the left field corner. Lock has a fluid swing and a direct hand path to the ball. The bat speed was also an impressive piece to the swing.

Charlie Branch (2021 3B, North Muskegon, MI) was a bright spot on the mound for the Navy team on Sunday. Branch sat 81-84 with a heavy fastball, and struck out three batters in his two innings of work. Most impressive in Branch's arsenal was his ability to mix speeds and keep hitters consistently off balance.

Trevor Kiser (2021 SS, Rose Hill, KS) displayed a very patient and poised approach at the plate. Kiser had a pair of singles in Sunday's game action, working hard to get deep into counts and fighting off pitches late in the count. The middle infielder has a high motor and does a lot of really good things on the field, at the plate, and on the bases.

Jessie James Hager (2020 MIF, Highlands Ranch, CO) did a lit bit of everything on Sunday. Hager ripped a double past the third baseman in his first at-bat, flashing some good hand speed and a line drive barrel plane. On the mound, Hager worked efficiently, facing the minimum and recording a pair of double plays.

Kolby Gartner (2020 RHP, Albertville, MN) had a strong day on the mound, tossing three scoreless innings and recording five strikeouts. Gartner threw a heavy fastball at 80-84, and was able to keep hitters off balance by mixing three pitches for strikes. The mound presence was great, and Gartner worked at a good pace and tempo throughout the outing.

Trevor Kiser (2021 SS, Rose Hill, KS) flashed some good wheels and a high motor with a pair of infield singles today. Kiser, who also had a tough at-bat resulting in a walk, showed good plate discipline and the ability to work deep into counts.

Brady Small (2022 3B, Lemont, IL) was impressive on the mound. The young righty sat 80-85 with a good fastball to both sides of the plate. Small also showed advanced feel for a mid-70s curveball and changeup, mixing speeds well on his way to five strikeouts in just two innings.

Collin Dehne (2021 RHP, Adell, WI) was another righty to shine on the mound Saturday. Dehne struck out four batters in three innings of work and also ran a fastball up to 82. The rising junior showed good feel for a changeup that he was able to throw in any count.

Braeden Lock (2022 RHP, Highlands Ranch, CO) had a pair of singles in today's action. Lock has a middle approach at the plate, lining a ball to center field and finding a hole in the same spot.

Desmond Watkins (2020 OF, Bloomfield, NJ) did a little bit of everything today. Watkins had a loud double to deep left field, and was also flying around the basepaths with two stolen bases. Watkins was strong in the outfield as well using his speed to make some tough plays look easy.

Luke Roman (2020 SS, Carol Stream, IL) hammered a triple off the wall in left field today. Roman has a lot of fluidity to his swing, and the ball jumped off the barrel.

Corey Graham (2018 OF, Hazel Crest, IL) had a strong day all around on Saturday. The outfielder had three hits, one of them being a loud double to the opposite field gap in right. Graham stole four bases on the day, and his speed was also very present in the outfield where he made a pair of stellar running plays.

Batting Practice Highlights

6/8/2019

Sunshine Midwest

Trevor Kiser (2021 SS, Rose Hill, KS) An athletic frame with a wide and slightly open stance, showing a direct path into contact. Rotational hitting actions working the ball to the pull side of the field with consistent hard contact off the barrel. Drives the ball to the deeper parts of the field while showing raw power in the bat.

Tyler Rueckert (2020 C, Prior Lake, MN) Creates barrel speed through a line drive plane with an athletic body and torque in the hips. Gets the bat through with intent and generating natural lift at contact. Gets behind the ball well and working to the pull side with solid jump off the barrel.

Drew Woodcox (2020 SS, Houston, TX) Took one of the most consistent batting practice sessions of the day. Really creates high end bat speed while staying on a compact path through the zone. Can drive the ball with authority to all fields but really creates leverage when working to the pull side gap. Drove several hard hit balls deep, as well as driving a couple of balls out of the yard.

Kolby Gartner (2020 RHP, Albertville, MN) Wide stance to start utilizing a leg lift trigger to help create hand speed into swing. Works to a line drive plane controlling the barrel well while also being able to create leverage at the point of contact. Stays on the backside into rotational action and keeping the ball on the pull side of the field.

Corey Graham (2018 OF, Hazel Crest, IL) Very athletic in the box producing big time barrel speed with quick and compact hands to the baseball. More of a contact oriented swing through a line drive path but can impact the ball and drive it to the gaps where the speed will play a big factor in live games.

Braeden Lock (2022 RHP, Highlands Ranch, CO) Large frame in the box and utilizes it well. Has strength in the bat and works into an elevated bat path. Best contact comes when working to the middle of the field. Can also control the barrel well and consistently square up the ball when the jump works well.

14U Sunshine Midwest

Andy Roman (2023 C, Geneva, IL) Swings the bat with intent on a naturally leveraged plane. Already produces bat speed creating solid jump off the bat when squared. Raw power that should continue to improve with size.
