Cameron Abea is a 2021 SS/RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Woodbury, MN who attends east Ridge highschool. Large frame with a lean build and longer limbs. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary shortstop with clean footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange with fluid actions. Maintains momentum to target while releasing from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced some accurate carry to the bag topping at 70 mph. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance and simple front side trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Compact hand path to contact with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Aggressively looked to throw barrel head to contact and produced shar contact to the middle of the field and pull side gap when squared. Also pitched utilizing a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created occasional downward plane through the zone in the low to mid 60's, topped at 66 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and occasional depth in the mid 50's. Also showed developing feel for a straight changeup offering in the low 50's. Good student as well.
