Green vs. Maroon Game 2 Highlights >>

12/4/2016 12:06:39 PM

Clifford Pradd (2017 SS, Riverside, CA): Doubled down the left field line in his first at bat, showing good speed around 1st base into 2nd, then immediately turning on the jets and scoring from 2nd on an overthrow from the outfielder. He also collected an RBI on the play. He followed that up with another rope over the 3rd baseman for a line drive single, collecting an RBI in the process.

Harrison Hayes (2017 3B, Western Springs, IL): Collected a trio of hits, including a well-struck, lofted double into the right-center field gap. He's strong already with a body that projects for continued strength and power gains moving forward. He came around to score twice, as well.

Zachary Baptist (2017 SS, Phoenix, AZ): Continued his hot hitting, roping a line drive single up the middle and then showing off his athleticism and speed by almost immediately swiping both 2nd and 3rd base before coming home to score. He followed that up with two more liner singles up the middle, one of them by waiting back on a breaking ball and driving it back where it came from. He totaled 4 stolen bases on the day.

Jack Silverman (2018 C, Scottsdale, AZ): Showed quality blocking skills behind the plate all game long, and also showed off advanced arm strength from the catcher position, popping a solid 1.62 seconds on a throw down to 3rd base. He also smoked a line shot over the 3rd baseman's head, showing advanced strength in his swing; also added a single up the middle in a later at bat. He pitched a pair of innings as well, running his fastball up to 83 MPH and showing a sharp-breaking curveball too.

Griffin Hays (2017 RHP, Prescott, AZ): Did a very good job of keeping hitters off balance, working 76-79 MPH with his fastball but sinking it effectively down in the zone and commanding it to both sides of the plate, getting tons of weak contact and seemingly not allowing a well-struck ball over 4 excellent innings of work.

Jacob Vesecky (2018 C, Phoenix, AZ): Collected a pair of hits, including a double into the left-center field gap. Physical frame, projects well moving forward, and creates good lift in his swing.

Ryan Baranowski (2017 C, Valley Center, CA): Showed good strength in his swing with lots of lift, collecting a trio of hits on the day, including a loud double to left center and a hard line drive single through the left side.

Trey Winget (2017 OF, Washington, UT)-Continued to show high level tools, doubling down the 3rd base line on a line shot and showing his plus speed consistently on the base paths, collecting a trio of stolen bases with no throws, making it look easy.

Joshua Romero (2017 SS, San Lorenzo, CA): Came on to close and showed a live, loose arm that clocked fastballs up to 86 MPH, sitting in the 83-86 MPH range with good, late sink at times. He also showed the ability to spin a sharp slider, which, when on, had two plane tilt and good snap.

Brent Renteria (2019 OF, Chandler, AZ)-Collected a pair of base hits, showing a line drive swing plane with good hand speed, and the ability to use the whole field with line drive approach, giving him high batting average potential.

Jarficur Parker (2017 SS, Dallas, TX): Collected a pair of singles, showing a quality inside-out swing path with good raw feel for the barrel, and also displayed his speed by stealing two bases when on, and also scored a run.

Thomas Webster (2017 RHP, Omaha, NE) has a very large, projectable build and threw with low effort. His fastball worked 78-84/85 mph with mostly true life, but generated swings and misses up in the zone. He also mixed in a 12/6 shaped curveball and a slider with 10/4 shape as well. He faced the minimum over four innings and struck out seven.

Ryan Jimerson (2017 LHP, Scottsdale, AZ) used a short, compact arm action with a drop and drive delivery. His fastball generated short sink working at 72-76/78 mph with weak contact on hitters' hands. He used a drop and drive element with a big crossfire drive to the plate to create deception. He also showed a curveball with good depth over for strikes at 61 mph.

Zachary Baptist (2017 SS, Phoenix, AZ) generated some of the loudest contact off the barrel with a trio of base hits including a double and a triple. He used a short swing to the ball and showed bat speed through contact with barrel control. Both extra base hits were driven He also stole two bases and showed clean actions around the infield.

Connor Denning (2017 C/RHP, Phoenix, AZ) showed some of the best arm strength of the day working his fastball 82-86 mph from a high, over the top arm slot. He used a short, quick arm action as well as a drop and drive element to the plate. He also showed feel for a short breaking 12/6 shaped curveball up to 69 mph. He struck out four batters in two scoreless innings. He also showed good hustle on the base paths, legging out a hard hit single through the left side for a double.

Cesare DeLuca (2017 LHP, Chandler, AZ) showed impressive pitchibility on the mound with a full arm action through the back and an on-line landing. His fastball worked in the upper 70's, topping out at 78 mph, with short running life to the arm side. He showed impressive feel for his changeup at 70 with good fade and also mixed in a curveball for strikes. His deception and ability to change looks stood out as well as his tempo on the mound.

Harrison Hayes (2017 3B, Western Springs, IL) picked up the only RBI of the game with a base hit into left centerfield. He stood tall in the box with an efficient swing path to the ball with a line drive swing plane.

Ryan Baranowski (2017 C, Valley Center, CA) showed good strength through the point of contact with a loud double to right-centerfield. The ball came off easily with good loft off the barrel and showed natural backspin ability.
