2016 West Uncommitted Showcase

Green vs. Maroon Game 2 Highlights
12/4/2016 12:06:39 PM
Clifford Pradd (2017 SS, Riverside, CA): Doubled down the left field line in his first at bat, showing good speed around 1st base into 2nd, then immediately turning on the jets and scoring from 2nd on an overthrow from the outfielder. He also collected an RBI on the play. He followed that up with another rope over the 3rd baseman for a line drive single, collecting an RBI in the process.

Harrison Hayes (2017 3B, Western Springs, IL): Collected a trio of hits, including a well-struck, lofted double into the right-center field gap. He's strong already with a body that projects for continued strength and power gains moving forward. He came around to score twice, as well.

Zachary Baptist (2017 SS, Phoenix, AZ): Continued his hot hitting, roping a line drive single up the middle and then showing off his athleticism and speed by almost immediately swiping both 2nd and 3rd base before coming home to score. He followed that up with two more liner singles up the middle, one of them by waiting back on a breaking ball and driving it back where it came from. He totaled 4 stolen bases on the day.

Jack Silverman (2018 C, Scottsdale, AZ): Showed quality blocking skills behind the plate all game long, and also showed off advanced arm strength from the catcher position, popping a solid 1.62 seconds on a throw down to 3rd base. He also smoked a line shot over the 3rd baseman's head, showing advanced strength in his swing; also added a single up the middle in a later at bat. He pitched a pair of innings as well, running his fastball up to 83 MPH and showing a sharp-breaking curveball too.

Griffin Hays (2017 RHP, Prescott, AZ): Did a very good job of keeping hitters off balance, working 76-79 MPH with his fastball but sinking it effectively down in the zone and commanding it to both sides of the plate, getting tons of weak contact and seemingly not allowing a well-struck ball over 4 excellent innings of work.

Jacob Vesecky (2018 C, Phoenix, AZ): Collected a pair of hits, including a double into the left-center field gap. Physical frame, projects well moving forward, and creates good lift in his swing.

Ryan Baranowski (2017 C, Valley Center, CA): Showed good strength in his swing with lots of lift, collecting a trio of hits on the day, including a loud double to left center and a hard line drive single through the left side.

Trey Winget (2017 OF, Washington, UT)-Continued to show high level tools, doubling down the 3rd base line on a line shot and showing his plus speed consistently on the base paths, collecting a trio of stolen bases with no throws, making it look easy.

Joshua Romero (2017 SS, San Lorenzo, CA): Came on to close and showed a live, loose arm that clocked fastballs up to 86 MPH, sitting in the 83-86 MPH range with good, late sink at times. He also showed the ability to spin a sharp slider, which, when on, had two plane tilt and good snap.

Brent Renteria (2019 OF, Chandler, AZ)-Collected a pair of base hits, showing a line drive swing plane with good hand speed, and the ability to use the whole field with line drive approach, giving him high batting average potential.

Jarficur Parker (2017 SS, Dallas, TX): Collected a pair of singles, showing a quality inside-out swing path with good raw feel for the barrel, and also displayed his speed by stealing two bases when on, and also scored a run.
