Cody Pigford (2027, Collinsville, Miss.) is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound, primary third baseman and righthanded pitcher who produced in all phases today. On the mound, Pigford featured a clean delivery and worked 1.2 innings where he garnered two punchouts and featured a fastball up to 73-mph with life through the zone and the ability to work ahead with it to the majority of hitters he faced. To add to his effectiveness on the mound, Cody mixed in a curveball with downer break in the mid-50’s. A sound ballplayer, Pigford would also go 1-for-2 with a run scored. A good athlete, Pigford moves well on the bases with speed, acumen and aggression.
Maddox Degon (2026, Buford, Ga.) is a 6-foot-1, tall and athletically built primary first baseman, and righthanded pitcher. Appearing on the mound, Degon worked a clean two-inning outing where he struck out two and featured a fastball up to 76-mph. With feel for his repertoire, Degon pitched with confidence and filled the zone working off his heater, while also mixing in a curveball at 62-mph, most in pitcher advantage counts to earn swing-and-miss. Degon has feel in the box on offense as well as he demonstrated quick hands and a level to high swing path that used the barrel to make contact to all fields.
Denzell Watkins, (2026, Duluth, Ga.) is another ballplayer to perform in all phases today during Columbia Blue’s twin bill. On the mound, Watkins has clean pitching actions, and an arm action that released his mix from a three-quarter slot, tunneling well throughout his outing, and adding to his effectiveness. Denzell’s repertoire features a fastball up to 75-mph with heavy tail, and the ability to work ahead with his heater into pitch advantage counts. Once ahead, Watkins mixed in a CB with 11/5 shape and some depth in the mid-60’s. At the plate, Watkins stays loose, and in turn, hits with evident twitch and hand-eye, helping him make barreled contact, never trying to do too much in the box. A good athlete, Watkins has speed on the basepaths to produce runs and make the defense rush.
Trevor Yancey (2027, Charlotte, N.C.) is a 5-foot-7, 130-pound primary second baseman who performed well in all phases for Columbia Blue during their double header today. In the box, Yancy has demonstrated patience with the ability to make hard contact due to his quick, linear swing path through the zone. Paired with keen hand-eye coordination, Yancy is not easily fooled in the box, and works well into hitter-friendly counts where he’s been able to make contribution to the team’s success. On the mound, Yancy started Game 2, to the tune of 2 innings pitched, a hit stranded and two strikeouts. Needing 41-pitches to complete his assignment, Yancy filled the zone over 50%, with his fastball up to 72-mph and a curveball in the low 60’s. With feel for his repertoire, Yancy created a lot of swing and miss and weak contact.
Robert Jackson III (2026, Lovejoy, Ga.) is a 6-foot, athletically built, switch hitting outfielder and southpaw who was impressive on the diamond. In the box, Jackson III stayed short through the hitting zone with feel for the barrel and bat speed. On the bases, Jackson runs with underway speed, and a quick first step, making him a difficult base runner to contain if he does not hit himself into scoring position out of the box. Over the two games played, Jackson III reached base in each, with a knock. Robert would also turn in a two-inning outing on the mound where he struck out 2 and mixed a fastball up to 75-mph and a curveball touching 60-mph with downer break.
