Uncommitted Gems: Georgia | Coastal/MA/NE | Texas & Deep South | Ohio Valley, Midwest & Canada | West Coast | Four Corners

With the fall circuit mostly complete, our scouts across the country dive into some of the uncommitted names in their region who have the talent and skill to make an impact at the next level.  *All players below are listed as uncommitted on their Perfect Game profile at the time of publishing*

Diego Rosa Burgos (2025 Humacao, PR) is a strong framed catcher who has developed a reputation for his power arm/power bat combination. He competed well all over the country in 2023 and is a strong fit for D1 colleges.

Enrico Carrion (2025 Caguas, PR) is another backstop with strong catch and throw skills and handles velocity very well behind the dish. There is also thump in the bat with multiple nukes in 2023 and it goes well with his ability to work counts and earn free passes.

Orlando Cruz (2025 Juncos, PR) is a tall and wiry outfielder with centerfield potential as he has already shown plus run times in the sixty and a big throwing arm to go with his defensive tools. He has a loose and whippy swing that projects well with added strength.

Diego Josué Cruz (2025 Carolina, PR) is a bit undersized but plays really fast. He has a ton of winning traits that all stem from his big baseball IQ. He runs well and can create on the bases and it fits his pesky all fields line drive hit tool. He can also pick it and shows a firm throwing arm.

Allem Borrero (2025 Hormigueros, PR) has an uber-projectable 6-5/190 frame and his upside comes from his potential on both sides of the ball. He can run the heater in the upper-80’s with loads more to come. Offensively, there is whip and loft potential in his left-handed bat. This is a very high upside very young for the grade prospect.

Carlos Rivera Fortuno (2025 Guaynabo, PR) is a high waisted outfield prospect with lots of room for growth in his 6-3/190 long and wiry frame. He is an easy mover with a swing that should be geared for future power.

Angel Santos (2025 Ceiba, PR) is a slick fielding middle infielder with quick feet that lead to good range to both sides on the dirt. The swing is quick and compact and he is best served when spraying line drives from gap to gap.

Fabian A. Bonilla Huertas (2025 Vega Baja, PR) should be a very solid third baseman with soft hands and a strong arm, and all the tools to make any play at the hot corner. The potential for power in the bat is obvious given his strong frame and easy bat speed.

Pablo G. Vargas Díaz (2025 Hatillo, PR) has an athletic look and actions to match in the outfield. He has a quick hands at the plate coming from the left side and can beat the opposition in many ways.

Miguel Maldonado (2025 Catano, PR) has very good feel on the dirt showing te ability to cut angles and maintain body control while changing arm angles. His left-handed bat is very accurate and he is a bit of a hit collector already, in game.

Dicky Iverson González Ayala (2025 Toa Baja, PR) is a wiry and rangy short stop with lots of room to grow. He has fluid actions with sure hands and plenty of arm for the left side. He also sports a fastball that reaches the upper-80’s at times.

Ryan Lopez (2025 Comerio, PR) has a strong and athletic 6-0/175 frame with strength throughout. He gets to a good point of contact and maintains barrel speed through the ball to create hard drive to the gaps. He also has a big throwing arm that fits perfectly in right field.

Deuel J. Malave (2025 Toa Baja, PR) has been a very good producer during 2023 as he creates a ton of back spin helping to drive balls for extra bases. He is versatile defensively and if he can stay behind the dish there is a ton of value at the next level.

Josnel Ortiz Ortiz (2025 Yabucoa, PR) hs excellent bat to balls skills with the ability to drive the ball from line to line. That left-handed stroke was on point during 2023 has he hit early and often. He can play multiple spots, but should settle into a corner outfield spot in college.

Josian Soto (2025 San Juan, PR) is a well-rounded player who can play multiple spots on the infield with his sure-handed ability to get outs. He also has a simple approach at the plate that should portend a high-average as he fills out.

Juliomar Campos (2025 Guaynabo, PR) has a powerful and whippy swing that shows big pull side power and lift. The arm and toughness behind the plate also stands out. There are big tools here on both sides of the ball.

Guarionex Carrion Lanzo (2025 San Juan, PR) yet another catcher with a good profile given his ability to handle a staff and throw the pill with accuracy. His swing is geared for hard line drives with an inside path now, but his strength should take over at some point soon.

Angel M Vazquez Molina (2025 Barranquitas, PR) is a high-energy infielder who can get rid of the ball in a hurry, regardless of the difficulty of the play. He also showcases pure eye-hand coordination and can hit all over the yard. He will need to add strength but he should be a very good college player, early in his career.

Jose Silva Quinones (2025 Fajardo, PR) has a strong, but athletic look to his 5-9/174 frame and he creates easy bat speed to impact balls hard to the middle of the field. The sound fundamentals also lead to his ability to play any position on the dirt at a high level.

-Jered Goodwin

Jackson LaLima, SS, Bradenton, Fl.
Class of 2024 | PG Rank: 500

LaLima is a strong performer who has solid tools across the board. The shortstop has a knack for the barrel, utilizing an easy, functional swing. He had a strong 2023, batting .380 with a pair of home runs in PG events.

Kendall Hoffman, RHP, Seminole, Fl.
Class of 2024 | PG Rank: 500

Hoffman was a big winner in Jupiter showing tremendous projection and working in the upper-80s. The long and lanky 6-foot-6, 165-pounds has a fast and loose arm as well as standout feel to spin two breaking balls, both capable of getting up into the 3000 RPM range.

Madrid Tucker, SS, Lehigh Acres, Fl.
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 179

Tucker has a strong track record of hitting and has plenty of twitch along with quick hands. A 6.63 runner, he can really move, and the athleticism will allow him to stick up the middle. Tucker can contribute in a number of ways on the diamond and is a supremely talented multi-sport athlete.

Riley McDonald, RHP/3B, St. Petersburg, Fl.
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 317

McDonald offers intriguing two-way upside. The St. Petersburg native runs his fastball into the upper-80s with sink and pairs it with a tight slider. The ball jumps when squared and the juice plays to pull side and in game.

Reilly Six, RHP, Niceville, Fl.
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 500

Six is a projectable right-hander and works into the upper-80s on the bump. The arm works and the fastball features riding life up in the zone. The curveball has downer bite to it and has the potential to be a weapon moving forward. The velocity comes easy and there is certainly more in store.

Dominic Woodward, OF, Tampa
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 500

Woodward has advanced feel for the barrel and a loose, quick stroke. The left-handed stick handles stuff well and take quality at-bats. Given the 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame, there is solid power projection as well.

Christopher Sosa, RHP, Hialeah, Fl.
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 500

Standing at a tall and long 6-foot-5, 200-pounds, Sosa lives upper-80s. The fastball features occasional cutting life to it, and he lands the breaking ball with consistency. Sosa is a solid athlete, and the operation is easy.

Carson Martin, RHP, Lakeland, Fl.
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 500

Martin possesses a legitimate four-pitch mix with all four having swing-and-miss capability. The righty lives mostly in the upper-80s and topped at 90 this fall. The feel to spin the curveball-slider is advanced and the changeup disappears, playing really well off of the other stuff.

Jordan Marlo, INF, Trenton, Fl.
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 500

Marlo is a classic gamer and has a smooth left-handed stroke. The infielder shows good actions up the middle and consistently takes professional at-bats with great swing decisions. The swing is short and quick with obvious bat-to-ball skills.

Alejandro Abreut, 1B, Miami, Fl.
Class of 2025 | PG Rank: 465

Abreut swung it well all year and capped 2023 with a loud fall. The first baseman has good size and physicality at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds. The swing is simple and quiet, and he is on the barrel often. The ball jumps off with low effort and it is easy to see power making its way into his game in a big way in the near future.

-Kyler Peterson

Lenin Nuñez, OF, Miami, Fla.
Class: 2024 | PG Rank: 500

Nuñez recently impressed at the Fall Top Prospect National showcase where he showed off big tools including a 95 mph arm from the outfield and a 6.7 second 60-yard dash time. He’s a switch hitter with good bat speed and feel to hit from either side while the athleticism and arm strength allow him to play pretty much anywhere on the diamond. Nuñez didn’t play in a ton of tournament games this year but OPS’d over 1.000 in six games, including four down in Jupiter.

Maurice Days Jr, SS, Tampa, Fla.
Class: 2024 | PG Rank: 500

Days Jr is a quality overall defender and a very versatile and physical one at that. Days Jr hit .364 with an OPS over 1.000 this year showing good strength and lift from both sides of the plate. He’s also a player who has worked hard on his skills, showing good improvement over the course of his career. Days Jr can hit and should be a fit at the next level somewhere on the infield dirt.

Connor Cantillo, OF, Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Class: 2024 | PG Rank: 500

Cantillo has great size and projection at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds and lots of room to fill out and add even more strength. He’s got a power-oriented approach with a low-90s arm from the outfield and looks to tap into that power at the dish. There’s big leverage and he can create space out in front and he fits the mold of a power-hitting corner outfielder at the next level.

Derek Martinez, C, Groveland, Fla.
Class: 2024 | PG Rank: 500

Martinez is a big, physical catcher who has home run power to the pull side and puts a nice blend of power with the ability to stick behind the plate. He’s aggressive at the plate and looks to do damage in early counts but he’s got the strength and power to expect home run production at a tough position to find that power.

Carlos Lugo, OF/LHP, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Class: 2025 | PG Rank: 306

Lugo was excellent down at the Underclass World Championship, hitting .571 over six games during the event while also showing big time arm talent. It’s a lively 88-90 mph fastball with feel for a sweeping breaker and a very good changeup. The stuff from the left side has a chance to be really nasty and Lugo looks like a player that will help a program at the next level.

Josiah Haslem, 1B, Southwest Ranches, Fla.
Class: 2025 | PG Rank: 471

Haslem recently impressed at the Miami Prospect Showcase where he showed huge power and hit two home runs in game action. It’s truly top of the scale juice as he was going out to all parts of the park during batting practice and uncorked two missiles during the game. At 6-foot-6, 235-pounds, he already looks like a pro in a uniform and the power upside here is limitless.

George Pardo, IF, Miami, Fla.
Class: 2025 | PG Rank: Follow

Pardo was another standout at the Miami Prospect Showcase, doing a little bit of everything by throwing 90 mph from the outfield and running a 6.7 second 60 yard dash. He’s a solid defender all over the field, from the outfield to the infield dirt, with a strong arm that gives him left side viability. He can hit too with a clean swing and solid bat speed with gap to gap power.

Connor Berman, 2B, Boca Raton, Fla.
Class: 2025 | PG Rank: 500

Berman had a terrific 2023 hitting .378 with an OPS over 1.000. It’s a simple swing with very good bat to ball skills and he rarely strikes out posting a higher walk rate than his strikeout rate. Berman is a smooth defender at second base but he has top of the lineup type skills in the batter’s box thanks to his plate discipline and walk rates.

Dominic Italiano, SS, Land O’Lakes, Fla.
Class: 2025 | PG Rank: 500

Italiano had a standout 2023 season, finishing with a .500 batting average and an OPS over 1.200 over the course of 36 games. He’s big and athletic with good power upside too as he’s got the frame and swing for it. Italiano was all over the barrel this summer and showed off the hit tool time and time again and he’ll be an asset at the next level.

Coppy's Corner: April 16 POY Deep Dive

Perfect Game Staff
Article Image
Each week I huddle with Vinnie Cervino and Craig Cozart  to discuss Top-25 rankings and Players of the Week. In Coppy’s Corner, I dive deeper into these Players of the Week, providing analysis from 20+ years working in baseball front offices at the highest level.   Player of the Week: Jaquae Stewart – Texas State University  If you squint a little bit, you can see some Josh Naylor or Dominic Smith in Jaquae Stewart, with a stout build like a more powerful version of the teacup from the children’s song. Lately, the Sun Belt Conference has been child’s play for Stewart as he has been on fire showing an improved hit approach and power that tracks more with his 2024 performance at Northwest Florida State College than with his 2025 experience at the University of Texas. It’s tough for any player to jump from a JUCO in Florida to the big stage...

Since I first saw him as a sophomore, Gomez-Gudiño has long been one of my favorite prospects in the state. The backstop features a super physical frame at 6-foot-0, 215-pounds with a thick lower half and strong forearms. Defensively, Gomez-Gudiño has always stood out. He moves well for his size behind the plate and receives with confident hands. The catch-and-throw ability stands out. Gomez-Gudiño looks to be aggressive and will back pick runners often. The glove alone makes...

Another week of undefeated weeks for our top 4 ranked teams. Joining them in the top 5, coming off an undefeated week of their own, is Florence-Darlington, a team we have consistently had as a top 10 team all season long. Cloud County and Midland College continue to put together strong weeks and climb the rankings each week it seems. Jumping into the rankings this week on the strength of a 15-game winning streak is Seminole State (OK). And Linn Benton makes the top 25 for a 2nd consecutive week and looks like the top team in the NWAC this spring. Plenty of high-level matchups at the JUCO level for some of the top teams in the county this next week.  Rk. DII/DIII/NAIA Rankings Update: April 15

Nick Herfordt
Article Image
Welcome to this week's small school baseball rankings, covering NCAA Division II, the NAIA, and NCAA Division III. As the calendar turns toward the final weeks of the regular season, the urgency is real across all three levels — teams are running out of weekends to build their cases, and the extended postseason invitations that every program is chasing don't go to programs that peak in March. The next few weeks of results will carry more weight than anything that happened before spring break, and the postseason committees in all three divisions are watching closely. Every series dropped to a team you should beat, every road sweep you let get away — it all matters now in a way it simply didn't two months ago. What you'll also notice as you read through the breakdowns below is that the numbers are doing more of the heavy lifting in how these rankings are constructed. Run...

College Players of the Week: April 14

Vincent Cervino
Article Image
April 14th Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Jaquae Stewart, INF/OF, Texas State  The Texas State Bobcats (24-12) are sitting in second place in the ultra-competitive Sun Belt Conference, and they have one of the most explosive offenses in the country.  They average right at 8-runs per game and can slug with the best of them, averaging almost 2-home runs per game as well.  Sitting in the middle of the order, Jaquae Stewart, is putting together a career year and is becoming the focus of opposing teams.  The 5-10/234 junior from Sinton, Tx is your classic lefthanded power hitter and is thriving in his move from Austin to San Marcos.  While it wasn’t the best week for his club, Stewart was sensational, collecting 8 hits in his 19 at-bats, scoring 5 runs, launching 5 home runs and driving in an insane 17 runs.  For the season, he is now slashing...

College Top 25: April 13

Vincent Cervino
Article Image
In a season where remaining in the Top 25 has become a war of attrition, the No. 1 UCLA Bruins (33-2) are making the game look much easier than it is in all reality.  Winners of 27-games in a row, this club continues to win games by any means necessary as they continue their historic run.  Beyond the incredible win streak, the Bruins have started off Big Ten play (18-0) by sweeping their first six conference weekend.  Adding to their resume, in Game 1 of their series at Rutgers, they won a 14-inning thriller by a score of 4-1where their pitching staff registered an eye-popping 30-strikeouts while only surrendering 1 walk and 4 hits throughout.  In most any other season, the No. 2 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (30-5) would be sitting atop the poll as they are putting together a historic season of their own.  They swept Florida State (24-11) who was previously ranked...

PG Draft: Favorite Position Group

Tyler Henninger
Article Image
Every draft class has its strengths. Some years its a loaded group of prep infielders, some years its a deep collection of college arms. In this year’s class, certain position groups stand out above the rest to us. This week, the draft team dives into their favorite position groups. Groups that we believe are loaded with depth, upside, and big league potential. College Infielders It’s hard not to get excited about the crop of college infielders in this year’s class because of who is at the top. Roch Cholowsky alone makes the group exciting. He’s got gold glove potential at the next level and an offensive profile that should make him one of the Top 15 to 20 prospects in all of baseball the second he gets drafted. Justin Lebron is another player with as much upside in the class. He is a premium athlete that can really pick it at short and has big upside with the...
