JUCO Rankings Update: April 4

Brian Sakowski      Blaine Peterson      Troy Sutherland      Cameron McElwaney
Another jam-packed week of JUCO baseball is behind us, and we have a fair bit of movement within the rankings this week. Central Arizona holds onto the top spot after an undefeated week, they sit at 35-5 currently and are rolling through the desert. It's worth mentioning that we view Arizona as one of, if not the toughest week-in/week-out grind in all of JUCO baseball, so CAC earns bonus points for holding that record with that strength of schedule. Walters State moves up to No. 2 this week at 33-5, they are rolling through Tennessee without much trouble and look destined for yet another Grand Junction bid. LSU-Eunice stayed unbeaten at 34-0 and moved up a spot again to No. 3 overall, their high water mark of the season to date as our top-ranked NJCAA DII team. Florence-Darlington is a big riser this week, using a 6-0 week to propel their record to 36-5, and their ranking at No. 4 overall is the high water mark for them this season as well. After slipping last week, Central Florida jumps back into the top five overall this week with a 34-4 record.

Iowa Western dropped a couple games last week to end their unbeaten streak, and subsequently fall a handful of spots down to No. 6 overall, still the highest-ranked team in the Midwest. Pearl River is another NJCAA DII team we feel strongly about, and another good week from them sees them rise up to No. 7 overall. Last week's giant slayer Santa Fe lost a series for the first time all year and saw their rank tumble a few spots as they check in at No. 8. Johnson County and Heartland both had solid if unspectacular weeks and hold steady at 9 and 10, respectively.

Blinn continues to absolutely roll, another unbeaten week from them bumps them up another spot to No. 14, which is their highest rank of the season to date. Connors State is making mincemeat of Oklahoma at 33-3, they keep steadily rising up our board and currently sit at No. 15, their highest rank to date as well. Our one newcomer this week is Barton out of Kansas who check in at No. 18 with a 30-3 record and consistently strong play across the board. One final note is pay attention to Crowder, who is on a bit of a streak in recent weeks after a so-so start. They are off the mat in the bottom of the list here, up to No. 23 and might be starting to roll. Watch closely for the Roughriders as we head down the stretch.
