Kicking off bracket play over at St Pius X HS was southpaw Brady Louck (2023, Plainfield, Ill.), who was masterful for US Elite as he went the full five innings while striking out twelve and allowing no hits over the course of the performance. The Notre Dame commit has a true three pitch mix and gets a ton of swing-and-miss with the fastball which peaked at 89 mph and sat in the upper-80s for the duration of the performance. Louck has a simple delivery with a clean and loose arm stroke that generates a good amount of whip through the arm circle. He showed good fastball command and was able to pepper in strikes with the heater and would elevate the pitch just to shoulder level to induce whiffs. The breaking ball was softer in the low-70s and he drops slot on it, but there’s good sweep along with excellent feel to back door the pitch to right-handed hitters. Louck also flashed a changeup but didn’t need it much as he had a dominating performance in every sense of the word.
