16u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4

Uncommitted Donovan Lasalle (2023, Lake Charles, La.) had a pretty loud last couple of days here at the 16u WWBA as he hit an absolute bomb over at The Chop the other night and doubled in their game on Monday morning over at St. Pius. Lasalle checks a ton of boxes with a 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame with a lot of athleticism and some wiry strength throughout. The swing is violent and has a lot of bat speed and barrel whip throughout the zone. He turned on the home run a few nights ago and left no doubt that the ball was getting out as it sailed a long way out over the left field fence. He doubled in Monday’s game and moves well around the base paths. There’s upside here given the physicality and hitting tools as he’s an intriguing uncommitted prospect at this juncture.

Florida State commit Luke Dotson (2023, Acworth, Ga.) got the start for the Astros Texas Orange on Monday morning and Dotson dazzled going four shutout with just two hits allowed, eight strikeouts, and filled up the strike zone. At 6-foot-4, 180 pounds Dotson has a long and lanky frame with plenty of room to project and add strength. He throws exclusively from the stretch with a very loose arm and worked in the 86-89 mph range for the early portion of the start. Dotson pounded the arm side with the fastball and got some occasional cutting action on the pitch when working over the glove side of the plate. The breaking ball was a bit softer in the low-70s and he attacked primarily with the fastball. Dotson filled up the zone and is deceptive as anyone on the bump and he also brought in three runs on two hits including a double.
