PG Showcases garner national exposure, social media visibility, and the opportunity to improve your player rankings.
Wheatley has a nice combination of defensive ability in the middle infield, quick hands at the plate that produce lots of bat speed and a fast arm on the mound, where he worked in the upper 70's with a high spin rate curveball.
Uhlenberg had the best raw bat speed and power at the showcase, with a Gary Sheffield type approach at the plate and the hand quickness to pull it off. He also showed off a strong outfield arm at 84 mph.
Rothbard is very strong for his age and that showed best in his performance at the plate. He was very consistent in his timing and swing path and hit some balls very hard towards left center field in batting practice.
Ukiteyedi is a very good natural athlete and one of the more projectable athletes at the event. He ran a 3.95 thirty yard, drove the ball consistently hard during the games and worked in the mid-70's on the mound with a very loose arm. He's going to keep improving in all areas.
Wagnon has a big and strong young build with good present strength that came out well in his swing. A primary left-handed pitcher, Wagnon worked in the 73-75 mph range and landed his curveball very consistently for strikes.
Johnson is still 12 years old and will be for another two months. But he has a sweet left-handed swing that barrels up everything and is comfortable and hard working behind the plate. He's definitely a young player to watch for the future.
Weeks has lots of growing to do but he's a very good athlete who had outstanding mechanics and fundamentals across four different positions and at the plate. Plus, he's a very hard worker and likely to max out his physical talents.
