2021 Top Prospects

Trent Hodgdon  RHP - 2021 - Smiths Station, AL
West Virginia

Hodgdon had a nice overall showing at Lake Point this past weekend, displaying present skills on both sides of the ball while still projecting for more. A primary third baseman, Hodgdon repeatedly found the barrel in live action with solid jump and also showed nice arm strength, topping out at 82 mph on the bump.

2022 Top Prospects

Brock Porter  RHP - 2022 - Milford, MI
Clemson

Standing at a long and ultra-projectable, square shouldered 5-10/140 frame, Porter already shows tools that stand out on both sides with big potential moving forward. He shows balance to his swing and feel for the barrel, athleticism both up-the-middle and in the outfield, and pounded the strike zone for two innings with a full three-pitch mix while hitting 82 mph.

Graham Smiley  C - 2022 - Denver, NC
North Carolina State

There's a lot to like when it comes to Smiley as he performed well both behind the plate, at the plate, and across the infield as well. His actions are loose and athletic and his catching mechanics are refined for his age and there's plenty of offensive potential as well with quick hands, leverage to his path, and hard jump off the barrel.

Rocko Brzezniak  3B - 2022 - Matawan, NJ
Rowan College at Gloucester County

Brzezniak certainly catches your attention with his advanced physicality, something he put on display during his round of batting practice, putting two balls out on back-to-back pitches. He consistently picked up base knocks in game, working the opposite field well, and showed athleticism around the first base bag as well.

Brooks Bryan  C - 2022 - Opelika, AL
Troy

Throughout the weekend the tool that stood out for Bryan consistently was his lefthanded stick, one that impressed both in batting practice and live action with hard jump off the barrel and quickness to his hands. He stays short to the ball and can handle the barrel while working to all parts of the field.

Brad Gregory  C - 2022 - Sanford, NC
UNC-Wilmington

After putting his lefthanded swing and quick lefthanded swing on display during his round of batting practice, Gregory continued to find the barrel in live action and did so while working all parts of the field. While the bat is his big tool right now, Gregory also put up good numbers from behind the dish during drills.

Connor Fuhrman  OF - 2022 - Daleville, VA
South Carolina

Fuhrman shows nice present tools on both sides of the ball and will only continue to improve as he continues to add physical strength to his 5-11/160 frame. He showed sound actions and arm strength in the outfield as well as the infield and creates nice whip in his righthanded swing with fluidity throughout.

Mason Balsis  C - 2022 - Nolensville, TN
Longwood

Balsis is strongly build at 5-11/170 and can already incorporate that strength into his game while projecting for more as he continues to refine his overall game. He offers a quick release behind the plate and nice arm strength to second base (76 mph) and jump off the opposite field when squared off the barrel.

Griffin Stieg  OF - 2022 - McLean, VA
Virginia Tech

Though listed as a primary righthanded pitcher, Stieg showed interesting tools as a righthanded hitting outfielder throughout the weekend. Listed at 6-1/165, Stieg moves well for his size and shows a feel for his tools at the plate, creating nice jump to all fields and a handle for the barrel along with nice arm strength from the outfield.

Matt Heavner  SS - 2022 - Lincolnton, NC
North Carolina State

Heavner may not be as physical as others on this list, but he found the barrel on a regular basis both in drills and against live pitching, showing a consistent stroke with line drive contact to all parts of the field. He moved well up the middle and also showed a simple delivery on the mound, topping out at 77 mph.

Grant Aycock  RHP - 2022 - Greensboro, NC
UNC-Greensboro

Aycock, a primary righthanded pitcher, didn't get on the mound this event but did show his potential as a switch-hitting middle infield. He's smooth defensively up the middle with lighter actions on his feet and a strong arm across the diamond (82 mph) and shows fluidity to his swing at the plate.

Tynan Gunn  1B - 2022 - Cedar Park, TX
Alvin CC

Making the trip over from Texas, Gunn put his strength on display, both with the bat and his arm as he tied for the event best with an 82 mph fastball. He came out attacking hitters with his fastball and while he'll continue to develop with his mechanics, Gunn shows nice quickness to his right arm stroke.

JC French  RHP - 2022 - Roswell, GA
Uncommitted

Listed as a primary catcher and righthanded bat, French offers plenty of physical projection and showed well this past weekend on the bump as a righthanded pitcher. Up to 81 mph with his fastball, French shows a quick right arm and a full three-pitch mix which he landed for strikes and consistently mixed within the zone.

Grant Hodge  RHP - 2022 - Little Rock, AR
Uncommitted

Strongly built at 5-11/170, the Arkansas native incorporates that physical strength well into his offensive approach, showing strong hands at the dish with a mostly linear path. As he continue to create leverage to his swing he'll drive the ball even further, already showing tool with which he can impact the baseball.
