2029 Top Prospects
Corbin Ace Downen
RHP - 2029 - Germantown, TN
Downen impressed in every phase, but performed particularly well on the mound where he ran his fastball up to 79 mph. The 5-foot-10 right-hander kept the pitch on the edges of the strike zone with solid arm-side run and carry through the zone. He was just as impressive at the plate, putting together a consistently loud round of BP with easy leverage generated to the middle of the field.
Cortez King
SS - 2029 - Moss Point, MS
King utilized a quiet operation in the box that produced effortless leverage and jump off the barrel. He has tons of strength in the hands along with advanced adjustability through the strike zone. The 6-foot-1 righty hitter maintains his posture over the baseball and works the middle of the field consistently. King posted an exit velocity of 78 mph and also recorded arm strength up to 77 mph on throws across the diamond.
Hayes Leach
OF - 2029 - Oxford, MS
Leach attacked the baseball with good urgency in the outfield, working into a clean arm stroke before delivering low and online throws up to 80 mph. He has plenty of evident quickness in the shoulder, paired with advanced footwork and range. Leach showed off his barrel skills as well, producing effortless lift and jump to the baseball at the point of impact. He also ran a 4.72 forty-yard dash.
Patrick Southerland
LHP - 2029 - Vicksburg, MS
Southerland was lights out on the mound during live action, attacking hitters with a variety of pitches. The 6-foot-1 southpaw pounded all four quadrants of the strike zone with his low-70s heater and showed feel for spinning his two-plane breaker. Southerland impressed with the bat as well, putting together one of the louder BP rounds with consistent line drive impact to the pull-side.
Lawson Mullins
OF - 2029 - Starkville, MS
Mullins produced consistently loud impact during his round of batting practice while demonstrating impressive control of the barrel throughout the strike zone. He maintains posture over the baseball well and stays through the middle of the field. On defense, the 5-foot-8 outfielder showcased a sound and repeatable operation during the positional workout, recording arm strength up to 78 mph.
Cameron MacDougall
SS - 2029 - Collierville, TN
MacDougall was impressive on both ends, most notably putting forth a smooth series of defensive work in the infield. The 5-foot-9 shortstop stays low and light on his feet while working through the baseball. He funnels it with soft hands and delivers accurate throws up to 82 mph across the diamond. MacDougall also showed off his strength with the bat, posting an exit velocity of 82 mph.
Tyson Crawford
RHP - 2029 - Collierville, TN
Crawford turned in an impressive performance on the mound during live action while topping his heater out at 81 mph. The pitch ran well out of the righty’s hand and set up his two-plane slider successfully in the latter portion of counts. He also showed promise in the infield during the defensive workout where the 6-foot prospect put his sound glove and accurate arm on display.
Easton Pylate
OF - 2029 - Vancleave, MS
Pylate produced consistent contact to both gaps during his round of batting practice, spinning several baseballs for distance. The 6-foot left-handed hitter was able to generate extension and leverage with ease at the point of contact. He posted an exit velocity of 83 mph, showing off his strength in the hands and barrel. Pylate also impressed on the defensive side of the ball, recording arm strength up to 84 mph on throws from the outfield.
Jayce Wright
2B - 2029 - Oxford, MS
Wright put forth an impressive showing on both sides of the ball. The 5-foot-7 second baseman gets a good first step on the baseball and takes efficient routes to it. He showcased the ability to adjust his glove and arm on the run, recording arm strength up to 81 mph on throws across the diamond. At the plate, Wright produced consistent impact to the pull-side gap with evident leverage and backspin at the point of contact.
2030 Top Prospects
Evan Killough
C - 2030 - Corinth, MS
Killough put together an impressive series of defensive work behind the dish, delivering strong and accurate throws down to second base. The 6-foot-1 backstop receives the baseball with soft hands, working into a shorter arm path with quick acceleration of the shoulder. He recorded arm strength up to 74 mph with a pop-time of 2.09 sec. At the plate, Killough showcased his bat speed and strength in the barrel during batting practice, and posted an exit velocity of 83 mph.
Dylan Davis
SS - 2030 - Corinth, MS
Davis lived on the barrel during his round and showed the ability to use all fields. The swing has simple components, allowing for consistency and he has the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field with authority. The athleticism was evident from on defense as well.
Miller Blackburn
LHP - 2030 - Madison, MS
Blackburn worked to elevate the ball and did so with success. The Mississippi native has the ability to backspin the all to pull side and the middle of the field. There is impact potential in the bat and the athleticism and twitch was evident in the outfield.
Dante Stutts
OF - 2030 - Sardis, MS
Stutts has advanced early strength and it was clear at the point of contact. The ball jumps off the barrel and he recorded an exit velocity of 83 mph. The power projects well moving foward and he threw accurately from the outfield during workouts.
