Patrick Southerland (2029 LHP, Vicksburg, MS) turned in an impressive pitching performance to start Sunday’s action, striking out five batters over three innings of work. The 6-foot-1 left-hander got ahead in counts often, filling up all four quadrants of the strike zone with his low-70s fastball. He also showed feel for spinning his slider in two-strike counts.
Corbin Ace Downen (2029 RHP, Germantown, TN) showed out on the mound, striking out a handful of batters through three innings of work. The 5-foot-10 right-hander ran his fastball up to 79 mph, living primarily on the edges of the strike zone. His heater showed arm-side run with good carry through the zone. He also sequenced in a fading changeup and 11-5 breaking ball to keep hitters mistimed.
Cameron MacDougall (2029 SS, Collierville, TN) showcased his talents both at the plate and on the mound during live action. The 5-foot-9 right-hander struck out seven batters through three innings, running his fastball with occasional rise up to 78 mph. He demonstrated impressive feel for a cutter and fading changeup as well, which were landed for strikes early and late in counts.
Lawson Mullins (2029 OF, Starkville, MS) was on the barrel all morning long, showing off his adjustability and bat-to-ball skills at the plate. The 5-foot-8 two-way prospect later threw a pair of scoreless innings out of the bullpen, retiring three batters on strikes. His fastball got up to 75 mph with late arm-side run, and was paired successfully with a slurvy breaking ball and fading changeup.
Jonah Lawson (2029 2B, Lexington, TN) came up with a big hit for his team, launching an RBI double to center field early in the game. The 5-foot-11 right-handed hitter controls the barrel well throughout the strike zone while maintaining leverage to the middle of the field. He demonstrated a mature approach in the box while also showing off his strength in the barrel.
Robert Brewer (2030 3B, Ethridge, TN) had a productive day at the plate on Sunday, lining a pair of singles to center and right field. The 6-foot righty hitter generates easy bat speed through the strike zone along with consistent line drive impact. He can spray liners to any part of the field or bury baseballs deep into the gaps for extra bases.
Tyson Crawford (2029 RHP, Collierville, TN) ran his fastball up to 81 mph in an impressive appearance out of the bullpen. The 6-foot right-hander collected four strikeouts over three scoreless innings of work, while allowing just one hit. His fastball ran well out of the hand and set up his two-plane slider which proved successful at keeping hitters off-balance.
Cortez King (2029 SS, Moss Point, MS) went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI during live action on Sunday. The 6-foot-1 right-handed hitter has plenty of evident strength in the hands along with a nifty ability to manipulate the barrel around the strike zone. He creates effortless leverage at impact with consistent backspin from gap to gap.
Hayes Leach (2029 OF, Oxford, MS) showed off his barrel skills during live games, collecting a pair of hits with a run scored. He demonstrated the ability to control the barrel in and around the zone while working all parts of the field. He also made a highlight play on the defensive end, doubling up a tagging runner at home after making a diving catch in center field.
