Henry Murphy (2028 MIF, Park Ridge, IL) took the mound on Sunday for another lone relief inning and proceeded to strike out the side. His heater sat in the upper-70s, topping out at 79 mph while hardly getting touched by an opposing barrel. His third at-bat resulted in an out, but he barreled up another ball as he drove one into the right-center gap, but the ball was run down. Not to mention, he shined at shortstop with athletic actions.
Braden Reich (2028, Gillespie, Ill.) had himself a great day at the dish on Saturday, and he did it once again on Sunday. He managed 2 doubles. He pulled one into the right center gap and also turned on one to right field later on. Simple stroke with some leverage and feel to lift that yielded loud results. It’s a projectable operation in the batters’ box.
Will Marlin (2027, Jonesboro, Ark.) put together some good swings on Sunday, adding a couple of hits with some strength off the barrel. When it syncs up, its a premium operation with a lot to like about it. He worked pull-side and up the middle to collect his two base hits on the day.
Owen Kueker (2028, Sparta, Ill.) worked up to 79 mph on the fastball with feel for the pitch and he was able to mix in a mid-60s curveball that had good shape and could miss some barrels. Also flashed an occasional changeup around 70 mph with some real fade and depth. Kueker had good traits on the mound and was athletic at his position on the mound.
