Sunshine Texas Prospect Gateway Day 2 Game Highlights

5/26/2024

Noah Thiel (2028 RHP, San Antonio, TX) has showcased a lot to like from both the workout to game action. He got things started on day two with a long at bat before getting on top of an elevated and driving it into left field for a sharp single. Thiel followed up his first  with another pull side knock in his second at abt. He does a good job in the box of simplifying his actions putting him in a good position to hit.

Graham Baughman (2028 C, Mansfield, TX) is another name that has stood out in both the workouts and in game action. He showed a good feel for the barrel from the left side of the plate during his round of batting practice on Saturday and carried that over into game one on Sunday picking up a base hit in his first at bat.

Mason White (2028 SS, Austin, TX) did a nice job showcasing his offensive skill set with a base hit in his first at bat on Sunday. The young middle infielder picked up an opposite field base hit in his first at bat and followed that up by taking two bases as he swiped second and third to give his team a scoring opportunity.

McClain Maupin (2029 C, McGregor, TX) looks the part in the box with a comfortable set up and an ability to get the barrel to the baseball. He did a nice job in his first at bat with a loud out on a ball to center field before following it up with an even better swing his second time up as he handled a mid 70’s fastball with ease, once again using the big part of the field this time finding the gap for a double.

Diego Reyes (2027 OF, Mesquite, TX) was lights out on the mound in his two innings of work as he was able to attack hitters with the fastball early in counts. He lived in the upper 70’s throughout running the fastball up to 80 mph and generating plenty of swing and miss. He mixed in a tight spinning breaking ball at 70’s mph to round out the two pitch mix.

4-Colombia Blue vs 6-Purple Game Highlights

5/26/2024

Christopher Castro (2028 3B, Cypress, TX)- First barrel of the game comes courtesy of Castro, getting a fastball above the belt and pulling it to left for a clean single. Contact skills present.

Diego Reyes (2027 OF, Mesquite, TX)- Textbook inside out swing on an inner half spinner that he laced back up the middle for a two RBI knock. Took a solid round of batting practice and showed an all fields approach that can translate some in game as well. He also hopped on the mound and ran his fastball up to 80 mph for two innings.

Jude Martinez (2028 SS, San Antonio, TX)- Just continues to hit, this time picking up a hard hit single to left-field for a single. Has lived all on the barrel all weekend, nothing but solid contact and quality AB's in the box from him.

Joey Siracuse (2028 OF, Prosper, TX)- Has impressed all weekend, hitting everything in the box & showing of some feel in outfield grass with good reads and first step quickness. Good frame to grow into, athletic look and ran a sub 7.00 60-yard dash.

Purple V. Columbia Game Recap

5/25/2024

Jacob Hekele (2029 LHP, Aledo, TX) showed good poise for age and worked with a good mix. Pitched to contact very well and has traits from the left side. Solid three-quarter slot and gets out front consistently.

Kyle Eberhard (2028 C, Copperas Cove, TX) yet another quality day at the plate. Pieced one the other way for a single. Worked short to long for a good inside-out swing.

Lincoln Ryan (2029 OF, Hewitt, TX) lifted one deep to the left field wall for a triple. Big strength at point of contact and really packs a punch. Physical backstop with ample power potential.

Cooper Suarez (2028 2B, Oklahoma City, OK) continues to punish baseballs as he roped one the other way for extra bags. Has loads of wiry strength in the frame, good handle for the barrel and plenty more in store.

Michael Logan (2028 C, Midlothian, TX) put one of the better bat-to-ball displays tonight. Lifted one deep to the pull side and engaged his lower half in the process. Showed some good catch-and-throw ability behind the plate.

Jude Martinez (2028 SS, San Antonio, TX) showed well in relief with two pitches for strikes. Worked high-70s consistently and flashed feel for a short slider. Worked with great pace.

Grey V. Purple Game Highlights

5/25/2024

Noah Thiel (2028 RHP, San Antonio, TX) makings of a big power arm, consistently living high-70s and it jumped out of hand for age. Huge frame and consistent downhill, missed bats with the heater.

Christopher Castro (2028 3B, Cypress, TX) doubled to the left-center gap and strung together solid barrels. Lifts the ball and gets underneath it with strength at impact. Tons to like.

Kyle Eberhard (2028 C, Copperas Cove, TX) good showing at the plate with multiple barrels, including a loud double. Whips the bat with intent and has some looseness to his bat head out front.

Cooper Suarez (2028 2B, Oklahoma City, OK) very enticing left-handed power potential. Ability to lift at impact and stays in a tight, short window. Offensive potential was on full display today.

Jett Berry (2028 SS, Poolville, TX) showed well on both sides and even on the hill. Was up to 77 mph, pitched to contact very well and landed for strikes. Also has some good defensive instincts for his age at shortstop and second base.

Brett Carter (2029 OF, Woodway, TX) put together a loud barrel back up the middle for a knock. Showed a sound approach and really put the bat on the ball. Solid traits.

Mason White (2028 C, Austin, TX) put a real good swing for a lined double to deep center field. Works the barrel with intent and stays behind the baseball awfully well.

Columbia V. Grey Highlights

Gavin Clower (2028 3B, Grapevine, TX) really good showing at the plate with a triple and a loud barrel. Two hit day, controls his levers and the intent shows. Versatile defender as well.

Diego Reyes (2027 OF, Mesquite, TX) real fast hands and impacted the ball multiple times. Big time showing in BP has shown up and the athlete is hard to deny at his age.

Gabriel Montanari (2028 OF, Frisco, TX) good barrel back up the middle and showed plenty to like. Good approach and ability to stay inside the ball, foot speed on the paths.

Wyatt Leonard (2028 RHP, Poolville, TX) dominant over five innings, topped 77 mph and had it all working. Showed a good breaker and some feel to spin. Pounded the zone at will.

McClain Maupin (2029 C, McGregor, TX) real good ABs all day and a smooth left-handed swing. Showed a solid approach with real good bat-to-ball skiils.

Sunshine Texas Prospect Gateway Batting Practice Highlights

5/25/2024

McClain Maupin (2029 C, McGregor, TX) really good frame for age and the strength is advanced. Big time strength and impact out front as his balls carried to the pull side. Real heaviness to the hands.

Ryan Cruz (2028 1B, Ft Worth, TX) big physicality to the barrel, stays behind the ball and impacts it hard. Real good strength and promising feel for the barrel as he matures.

Noah Thiel (2028 RHP, San Antonio, TX) good bit of bat speed for age and some real quick hands. Hard liners to all fields, stays behind the ball and impacts it hard. Real good handle for the barrel.

Brysen Samsill (2028 OF, Burleson, TX) lots of hard impact in his round as he worked the barrel to all fields. Produced good impact and carry for his age and has solid young bat speed to build upon.

Joey Siracuse (2028 OF, Prosper, TX) real sound frame and lots to like long term. Has a sound approach and saw the ball awfully well, working the barrel to all fields. Gets extended out front and does damage.

Grant Gray (2028 2B, Flower Mound, TX) wiry strength and quick wrists at the plate. Real sound round to the pull side gap and sprayed it hard. Good impact and plenty more for his age.
