1-Gold vs 2-White

11/3/2018

Jhett Creel (2023 C, Wylie, TX) Jhett showed an advanced approach at the plate, the left handed hitter went 2 for 3 at the dish for the Gold team. Creel has a very level swing plane and barrel stays in the zone for a long time, generating a lot of line drives to the middle of the field. Also made some great defense plays while catching for his team.

Gabriel Flores (2022 OF, Longview, TX) Big young OF from longview showed big time pop and natural power with the bat. Flores also showed one of the best arms in showcase off in game when he held a runner at third from tagging saving a run from crossing home. Flores moves very well and showed his speed with a triple late in the game. Gabriel went 2 for 3 at the dish.

Ben Adams (2023 3B, Hermanville, MS) The third baseman from Mississippi showed confidence and a very mature approach at the plate. He did not try to do too much and let to him consistently finding the barrel and working his way to a 2 for 3 day at the plate.

Blake Hall (2023 SS, Beaumont, TX) Has a very nice lefty swing a very linear swing and generates some power and bat speed. Hall only finished the day with one hit but drove some balls well in his other at bats. Shows a lot of intriguing upside a Left handed hitting shortstop with some tools to build on.

Justin Bradford (2023 LHP, Nacogdoches, TX) Low ¾ slot with slower arm speed, throws across body, slow-smooth delivery, gets to balance, opens a little early, is online with decent extension and decent finish, CB is 56-58 with slurve action that has good depth to it and has good movement to it. CB is good pitch for him has good command of it, will also change speeds on his CB. He is poised and focused, has some tools. Bradford threw 4 very strong innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 9! Fastball went up to 72 mph.

Landon Fuller (2023 RHP, Haslet, TX)  ¾ slot with good arm speed, long-loose arm action, high leg lift delivery with knee tuck, uses lower half well, gets to good balance point, is online with good extension. CB was 65 with 10-4 break with depth. Has decent control and command. Landry a dominant 2 innings of work with 0 hits 0 runs and striking out 4. Fastball topping out at 82 mph.

Michael Mayhugh (2023 OF, Spring Branch, TX) Showed a great outfield arm during the game. Making a very accurate and strong throw to get a runner at home. Mayhugh is very strong and athletic and not only projects at the plate as a prospect but also as an above average defender.

1-Gold vs 2-White

Michael Cook (2023 C, Mansfield, TX) A big power hitting catching prospect Cook showed what he can do on day two of the showcase. In his first at bat Cook hit a double deep in the gap. In his next at bat he nearly hit one out of the park foul. He is very athletic for his size and plays the game hard. He uses a slightly open stance and a double toe tap for timing.

Nick Gardiner (2023 1B, Beaumont, TX) A physical first baseman has a quiet stroke and steps in with confidence and looks to hit. In his first at bat he hit a rocket single pull side down the third baseline. In his next at bat he put another good swing on a ball deep fly out to left.

Batting Practice Highlights

11/3/2018

Boots Landry (2023 3B, Friendswood, TX) is very strong for his age with a 6-0/170 build and has very good right handed bat speed.  His swing mechanics and timing were very consistent, leading to mostly hard line drives to the pull side with plenty of carry.

Dillon Lopez (2023 C, San Antonio, TX) is a right handed hitting catcher with a nice fundamental swing that shows bat speed and the ability to drive the ball to the gaps.

Gabriel Flores (2022 OF, Longview, TX) has a loose and projetable 6-0/155 build and quick hands from the right side.  He hits from a tall stance with a positive move into contact and the ball comes off the barrel with some jump to it.

Michael Mayhugh (2023 OF, Spring Branch, TX) was consistently on time from his first swing with a rotational right handed swing that produced lots of hard middle of the field line drive contact.

Preston Oliver (2023 1B, Shawnee, KS) is very tall for a young 8th grader at 6-2/155 and projects lots of power down the road as he fills out, although he'll have to adjust his takeaway to get in position to hit sooner as the game speeds up.

Michael Cook (2023 C, Mansfield, TX) is one of the stronger players at the 14U event, with a projectable 6-1/168 body.  He gets coiled over his back side well, enabling himself to translate that strength into bat speed from a tall and narrow stance.

Cade Daniell (2023 OF, Magnolia, TX) is a 5-8/130 left handed hitter with plenty of growing to do but a very sound high average swing approach that will need little changing over his coming high school career.  He squared up every ball during batting practice.
