Purple vs. Orange Game Highlights

2/17/2024

Johnny Carver (2026 LHP, Raymore, MO) was the showcase standout.  The 2026 Arkansas commit worked in the 86-89 mph range on the mound with a mid-70's breaking ball and 77 mph change up and threw strikes.  He probably had the most barrels of any player as a hitter as well, consistently lining the ball hard to the pull side.

Brody Cooper (2026 RHP, Berryton, KS) is a 6-2/180 sophomore has a nice athletic build and good arm strength.  He was up to 85 mph on his fastball and maintained his arm speed well on his secondary pitches, although he tended to lower his arm slot on those pitches, especially on his slider.

Joey Senstock (2025 3B, Lincoln, NE) is a strong and athletc 6-2/203 third baseman who is a Nebraska commit.  He consistently got the barrel on the ball with hard line drive contact with some lift.  For all his offensive tools, his defense might be the best present aspect of his game.

Kaiden Simons (2026 OF, Kansas City, KS) showed a nice left handed swing with consistent hard contact up the middle.  He's a very projectable young athlete who is going to keep improving.

Gavin Cornell (2026 SS, Lincoln, NE) has a nice swing and handles the barrel well with some jump off the bat.  He's a projectable young sophomore with some offensive potential for a middle of the field player.

Wesley Brown (2026 LHP, Kingsville, MO) showed a dominant fastball with both velocity (up to 86 mph) and tons of late life that created plenty of out of zone swing and miss.  The 5-10/170 southpaw has plenty of maturity on the mound and knew how to use his stuff.

Kam Smith (2027 RHP, Girard, KS) was one of the younger players at the event but one of the most promising as well.  The 6-2/160 freshman worked in the 81-84 mph range and showed a potentially outstanding slider in the mid-70's that flashed big two-plane biting action.  It's a very projectable set of skills and tools.

Hudson Powers (2025 OF, Olathe, KS) has a nice swing with quick hands and a short and direct path through the ball.  The left-handed hitter hit through the ball well and is strong enough to create some jump.

Noah Boschee (2025 3B, Sioux Falls, SD) was one of the strongest players at the showcase with a well proportioned 6-0/210 build and the right-hander put that strength to good use, with a short inside swing that combined barrel accuracy with plenty of impact.

Jon Primmer (2026 OF, Omaha, NE) has an interesting combination of strength as a left-handed hitter and positives on the mound.  His low 80's fastball had very low spin rate characteristics and overpowered hitters, while his 73 mph slider was sharp with spin rates over 2400 rpm at times.
