Batting Practice Highlights

8/5/2023

Hudson Dinger (2026, West Fargo, N.D.) is a right-handed bat who put on a show during his round of BP. He drove the ball well pull-side with a rotational operation. He hit a home run during BP and played some pepper with the wall pull-side, showing off plenty of juice and strength off the barrel.

Sawyer Kowalkowski (2024, Fredonia, Wisc.) operates with a wider base and is another right-handed bat who was able to do damage in the air working pull-side. Drove the ball well on a line, including a ground-rule double that one-hopped over the fence pull-side. Solid round of good swings.

Graham Rima (2026, Leclaire, Iowa) is a right-handed hitter who wanted to pull during his round of swings, and he was able to execute this. He lifted the ball well and drive the ball to the gap for his best contract. Deeper hands with good extension through the zone helps him find success in the batters’ box.

Landon Frost (2024, Gilbertville, Iowa) showed off tons of strength in his round of BP swings. The right-handed hitter was able to work all over the field with good strength. He left the yard during BP showing strength off the barrel and good juice to do some damage in the air. Good whip to the hands.

Eli Morgan (2024, Parker, Colo.) showed off some juice and explosive hands with his swings on Sunday. Tons of intent, with the best contact coming gap-to-gap. Quick hands with tons of speed through the zone to drive balls hard during his round of BP swings.

Camden Knutson (2024, Tulsa, Okla.) was impressive during BP, swinging it well from both sides of the plate. He drove the ball well, pulling it as both a righty and lefty, respectively. He was able to show off a quick barrel and find ways to do damage in the air.

Colin Mitchell (2025, Edina, Minn.) showed off quick hands and a rotational swing during his round of swings. Good strength off the barrel to be on plane and drive the ball into right field. Plenty to like with a fluid operation top-to-bottom.

Kolten Post (2025, St. Louis, Mo.) had a unique load which was deeper and pre-loaded, but it worked well for him as he drove the ball well. He had some hard-hit balls and was able to drive the ball to left center, extending well thru contact.

Nic Sabers (2026, Lenexa, Kan.) showed off a good round of BP, doing a good job to get the barrel on the ball and drive it back up into the middle of the field. Had some lift at times and was able to drive the ball pull-side for the best contact during his round of BP. Put together a good round top-to-bottom.

Game Highlights: 1- Columbia Blue vs. 2- Red

8/5/2023

Hudson Dinger (2026, West Fargo, N.D.) took to the mound and worked up to 83 mph on the fastball with some life, showing a slurvy high-tilt breaking ball in the upper-60s, attacking hitters well. He punched out 7 opposing hitters over 3.0 innings of work. He cruised and was uber-efficient, locating well.

Jacob White (2024, Lakeside, Iowa) single to CF on a liner, quick path, good job staying through the ball to drive it. He was able to add another base hit later on in the game, driving one back up the middle again. He attacked early in the count and drove it back up the middle on the ground for his second hit of the game.

Colin Mitchell (2025, Edina, Minn.) singled to right-center field, getting the barrel to it quickly and driving it for a base hit. He was able to get the barrel on it with strength at impact for the base knock. He also threw 3.0 innings, allowing 1 hit, striking out 3 opposing hitters. The fastball was up to 81 mph and paired real well with a sweeper slider, making it tough for opposing hitters.

Hayden Rausch (2024, Cedar Falls, Iowa)  took to the mound as a left-handed pitcher, being able to command a 3-pitch mix to be a problem for opposing hitters. He threw well from a lower slot, being able to mix in the fastball with some arm-side life, the changeup with fading depth, and a curveball with a bigger break to induce some tough swings. Rausch threw 3.0 innings, allowing just 1 hit, punching out 4 opposing hitters. He also grabbed a base hit, driving the ball for a single during one of his trips to the plate.

Nic Sabers (2026, Lenexa, Kan. ) got the barrel to one and drove it back up the middle into the gap. He ran hard out of the box and was closing in on second when defensive miscues allowed him to reach third on the barreled-up single. Nice piece of hitting as he was able to work the gap backside. He picked up another barrel later, a hard-hit ball, but right at the second baseman. Quick hands to get on plane once again.

JD Prorok (2026, Wentworth, S.D.) has gone out and worked a three-pitch mix for success. The fastball was up to 86 mph and held the mid-80s. He showed a slider with good depth to it. Also showing a changeup with fading depth, locating it arm-side. Prorok threw 3.0 innings, with 6 punchouts to his credit.

Sawyer Kowalkowski (2024, Fredonia, Wisc.) has gone out and been uber deceptive. He has a real tough look, manipulating arm slots, attacking hitters from up high, and a submarine angle. He does what he needs to to be deceptive. The fastball worked into the low-80s, with tons of arm-side life and sink, pairing well with a real high-spin slider that was problematic for opposing hitters. Kowalkowski threw 1 and 2/3 innings with 4 punchouts to his credit.

Chase Dykstra (2026, Fulton, Ill.) picked up two hits on the day; he showed off his bat-to-ball skills being able to work on time and on the barrel for a couple of pitches. He drove the ball to centerfield for an easy base hit early on and was able to pick up another hit later on in the game, giving him 2 on the day.

Cal Leighton (2025, Chesterfield, Mo.) picked up three hits on the day; he added several base hits, finding the barrel often. He was able to show his best swings pull-side and added a trio of hits to his credit. He drove one on the ground through the left side. He added another line drive to centerfield to his credit as well.

Camden Knutson (2024, Tulsa, Okla.) picks up a single to left field after getting the hands to it and driving it pull-side. He had swung it well from both sides during BP as well. He also jumped on the mound and worked 80-83 mph on the fastball with an arm-side run and an 11/5 shaped curveball in the mix as well.
