Palmer Boyd (2024 RHP, Sioux Falls, SD) is an intriguing uncommitted arm that was up to 82 mph today. The right-hander has a loose arm with an athletic delivery. He stands at a long and lean 6-foot-1 155-pounds, and there is plenty of projection remaining in the frame.
Cooper Hummel (2025 LHP, Cascade, IA) settled in nicely for the Team Orange, running his fastball up to 82 mph with late life from the left side. He showed control of four pitches and mixed them well, which allowed the fastball to play up. His splitter had significant run and sink, and he killed spin on the changeup, tunneling it well. His ability to mix speeds and move the ball around proved to be difficult to hit for the opposition.
Silas Riehl (2026 RHP, Marion, IA) showed some pieces to like on the mound for a young prospect. He ran the fastball up to 81 mph with definite whip to the arm. The curveball was sharp when he found it, and his arsenal has the ability to miss bats with further refinement. Riehl has a sturdy 6-foot, 180-pound frame with some strength present.
David Hill (2027 1B, Flossmoor, IL) put a real nice swing on the ball in his first at bat of the day, as he jumped on a fastball early in the count for a line drive to centerfield. He's an intimidating figure in the box, standing at a big and physical 6-foot, 240-pounds. There is easy power in the left-handed swing, and his strength is advanced for the age.
We got a very intriguing look at Matt Ritchie (2027 RHP, South Elgin, IL) in this one, as the young arm ran his fastball up to 80 mph (2000+ RPMs), and spun a curveball at over 2100 RPMs. The right-hander utilizes a fluid and athletic delivery and a loose arm action. He stands at a lean and projectable 6-foot-1, 145-pounds, and there is big upside present with a lot to like moving forward.
Rhett Lynch (2027 C, Bloomington, IL) is another young prospect who made his presence known during the game. In his last at-bat of the day, the right-handed hitter crushed a would-be double for some of the loudest contact of the day. He gets into his backside well to generate power, and he was on time and on plane with the pitch.
