2025 PG Sunshine West Prospect Gateway Batting Practice Highlights

Brooks Buoncristiani (2029 C, Upland, CA) had a good round of BP showing off the bat speed with loud impact to the pull-side especially. Stays on it well from a level swing path. Can use the entire field. Good hitter. Both hit and power project a good bit.

 

John Dunbar (2029 MIF, View Park, CA) showed a simple approach throughout his round of BP with good bat speed that projects for more. Line drives and barrels all over with pull-side impact on full display. Showed good ability to leverage and launch as well.

 

Lucas Keldorf (2029 C, El Segundo, CA) worked to the pull-side and up the middle well throughout his round of BP with some loud impact off the barrel. Clean swing path that stays short through the zone and strong hands that will play. Produced an EV of 85. Both power and hit project well.

 

Braydon Lee (2029 SS, Chino, CA) showed off the bat speed throughout his round of BP working the pull-side well. Could really impact it and get it out front with authority. Swings with good rhythm and can turn on the ball. Line drive hitter with feel for barrel.

 

Maxton Baracy (2030 RHP, Santa Monica, CA) athletic 6-3 frame with good physical projection remaining. Showed good bat speed overall and could impact it when on the barrel. Ability to leverage and launch stood out from a smooth lefty swing. Can impact it out front and pull-side juice should play. Still has ability to spray it all over the field with impact.

 

Max Kelley (2029 SS, Orange, CA) put on a show during his round of BP with loud barrels all around. Sent one off the wall showing off the juice. Good young bat speed that projects for more with plenty of strength at impact. Pull-side juice stood out the most but could impact it all over the field.

 

Julian Morones (2029 OF, San Diego, CA) had a good round of BP overall. Bat speed and strength stood out. Could really turn on the ball with authority for some loud impact. Good balanced stance and swing that stays controlled. Strong lower half and it’s easy juice.

 

Gavin Carcelen (2029 SS, Rancho Cucamonga, CA) had some nice swings throughout his round of BP working the pull-side well. Flashed good bat speed and swung it with intent. Impact was loud when on the barrel and on time.

 

Owen Schneller (2029 RHP, Lakewood, WA) showed off the strength throughout his round of BP. Has a strong lower half and swings with good bat speed. Rocks the weight back into contact and could launch the ball with good carry. Power projects well here especially to the pull-side.

 

Aaron Hernandez (2029 RHP, Chino Hills, CA) with a good round of BP and was on the barrel a bunch. Bat speed showed out and played with a good pull-side approach. Could impact it well to the pull-side. Timing was there and bat to ball with impact stood out throughout his round.

 

Matias Gonzalez (2030 C, Porter Ranch, CA) was all over the barrel throughout his round of BP. Showed a clean weight transfer and swung with good rhythm. Bat speed present with feel for barrel. Could impact it well. Really good looking swing that stays level through the zone and pretty direct to the ball.

 

Tyler Fritz (2029 1B, Orange, CA) put on an absolute clinic throughout his round of BP showing off the power especially to pull. Big time bat speed with a ton of strength at impact. It played in BP and in game. Loud barrels all around. Strong kid nearly left the yard multiple times. Can really turn on the ball with absolute authority and ability to launch played. Both hit and power project.

 

Alijah Antunez-Valdovinos (2029 OF, West Covina, CA) had a good round of BP using the pull-side and middle of the field well. Good bat speed from a level swing path. Can impact all over and was on time consistently. Good athlete overall and the bat should continue to get better.

 

Dean Sanchez (2029 3B, Sherman Oaks, CA) showed a good pull-side approach throughout his round of BP and was on the barrel a good bit. Bat speed present with and barreled line drives all over. Impact to all fields stood out. Good impact to all fields should continue to play. Hit in game a bunch.

 

Nixon Sharp (2030 3B, Langley, BC) swung with absolute intent from a physical frame. Immense strength at impact and the ball simply put, carries off his bat. Uphill swing path that can really launch it. Can go the other way with it with authority and it showed up in game later on.

 

Landon Hodges (2029 LHP, Vista, CA) was on the barrel throughout his round of BP working the pull-side well. Powerful lefty swing and was on the barrel consistently. Could work the entire field well. Power projects.

Game Highlights: 7-Columbia Blue v. 8-Gold

Owen Schneller (2029, Lakewood, Wash.) has a physical presence at third, displayed a throw on the line with projectable arm strength when fielding a 1-hopper to third. Executed footwork and got the runner in time at first with an accurate throw. 

 

Westin Meyers (2029, Winchester, Calif.) has an athletic build with some physicality. He has long arm action with a H ¾ arm slot. Keeps glove low with glove in sync with a short-medium, quick, sharp leg kick. FB has light armside tail at times with traditional 4sm shape locating well on the outer frame. The fastball was up to 78 mph. Increased CH usage early in 2nd inning of work with short breaking SL. CH showed light downward fade with light usage. CRV has a short-medium break on 12/6-11/5 shape. FB displayed consistent effectiveness when mechanics were on time.

 

Max Kelley (2029, Orange, Calif.) has a lengthy athletic build with room-to-fill down the line. Athletic strides and a good mover with agility. Had a blooper land in RF for a single and was aggressive on the bases, stealing two bags. Loose fielder with good timing with footwork and a steady glove, displayed glove staying behind the ball in infield warm-ups. He ripped a loud double to deep left-center field on a high FB with a stolen base, continuing his aggressive baserunning clinic. Added another double, with his third at-bat.

 

Armando Minaya (2029, Los Angeles, Calif.) has a lean and lengthy build with medium present strength and room-to-fill. Ripped a single through the 6-hole  to left field, nabbing a single. He also showed comfortable actions at 3B with footwork and his glove work. The RHP was able to incorporate his breaking ball, creating swing and miss and ground out production. Breaking ball showed big depth. FB had 4-seam shape and mixed both pitches well. In his 2nd inning of work, he continued to use FB with effectiveness, creating weak contact and flyouts. Produced strikeouts in both innings of work with FB and breaking ball. 

 

Joshua Keller (2029, Corona, Calif.) has a medium build with broad shoulders, with arm action staying short with a three-quarters slot. FB lived in lower part of the zone, showing slight ride at times, working the 75-78 mph range. Established FB and had a lot of success locating in the lower part of the zone. Previewed a developing SL that has the potential to tunnel well with FB down the line.

 

Jack O’Patry (2029, Fort Worth, TX) added a base knock working backside early on in this one, driving it into right field. He was also able to get the job done on the mound in a smooth outing pitching, while working the upper-60s on the fastball. 

 

Jack Houston (2029, San Diego, Calif.) took some good swings today. He added a well-struck base knock, showing good feel for the barrel & ability to impact, as well as another barreled up ball early on. He makes a good move to contact and was able to show some results at the plate. 

 

Isaiah Carreon (2029, Eastvale, Calif.) added a couple of hits today, including a double. He showed some feel to be on the barrel and drive the ball well. Showed some feel for the barrel and ability to impact that helped him get it done at the plate.  Added another hit later on as well, showing some feel for the barrel.

 

Camden Clabough (2029, Hemet, Calif.) added a couple of hits on the day, showing good bat-to-ball skills once again. He was also able to work up into the mid-70s on the mound, commanding the zone with strikes. He has an athletic and projectable frame that showed traits to like on both sides. 

 

Kingsley Wang (2030, Los Angeles, Calif.) added a couple of hits on the day, including a triple. He turned hard on one and was able to impact it well and drive the ball, working backside. He plated 2 runs and got it done, hustling out a triple. A couple of good swings on the day. 

 

Julian Morones (2029, San Diego, Calif.)  showed a physical presence on the left side of the box, adding a couple of hits. He showed good bat-to-ball skills – ripping a single to the left-center gap. He displayed the ability to use both gaps, activating his bat control in his two hits on the day.

 

Jacob Kim (2029, Chino, Calif.) has an athletic presence in the box with a strong lower half. Has made loud, far knocks all day at the dish, showing his ability to be a run producer. Tallied a couple of hits, showing a good, loose, and simple stroke to get it done time and time again.


Ethan Blunt (2029, Lancaster, Calif.) added two hits on the day, finding ways to throw the barrel head well and drive it. He drove one into the gap in left-center field, hustling out a double. Some quickness to the bat helps him get it done at the dish.

Lucas Chappelle (2030 SS, Santee, CA) Dumped a soft line drive in front of the left fielder for a base hit

Declan Hordichuk (2030 C, Scottsdale, AZ) Legged out a hard hit ground ball that the SS made a diving play on and beat it out for a single. Added a soft line drive single to the LCF gap. Stole 2nd base.

Juvahn Woods (2030 OF, Eastvale, CA) Soft line drive single dumped over the shortstops head

Ethan Arrata (2029 OF, Chino, CA) Inside the park HR on a hard hit line drive

Maxton Baracy (2030 RHP, Santa Monica, CA) Took an outside FB and drove it to the backside (LF) for a stand up double. Added another opposite field hard hit fly ball double that 2-hopped the wall in LF. Made 2 really good rangy plays in CF.

Benjamin Gutierrez (2030 2B, Downey, CA) Took an inside FB, pulled his hands inside and barreled one to right field for a line drive base hit

Taj Carrillo (2029 C, El Cajon, CA) Took a FB offering and squared it up for a hard hit ground ball single through the t6-hole. 

Israel Bergara (2029 OF, Lancaster, CA) soft line drive single to the pull side (RF). Added another soft line drive single and dumped it over the shortstops head.

Chace Lee (2029 SS, San Gabriel, CA) Hard hit line drive single

Michael Melgar (2029 1B, Chula Vista, CA) Took a FB offering and drove a hard hit line drive triple to the gap in LCF picking up AN RBI. Added a loud standup double that one hopped the wall in left field. 

Daravon White (2028 SS, Wailuku, HI) Squared up a FB offering and picked up an RBI with a line drive single to center field

Julius Berrios (2030 RHP, Chula Vista, CA) Took a FB offering squared up a hard hit ground ball single through the 6-hole. 

Tyler Fritz (2029 1B, Orange, CA) Drove a FB offering deep to RCF one hopping the wall for a stand up double.

Asher Hall (2030 SS, Santee, CA) Dumped a soft line drive single to the opposite field (RF) over the second baseman's head.

10-Navy vs. 11-White Game Highlights

Landon Hodges (2029 LHP, Vista, CA) worked 76-79 T80 with good tailing life to it. Mixed well and could drop in a Curve at 65 (2300 RPM). Curve showed healthy 1-7 shape with some depth and could land it. Change at 68 and killed spin with good tumble. Physical frame and projects for plenty more in the tank. 

 

Dean Sanchez (2029 3B, Sherman Oaks, CA) sent a booming rocket to the LCF gap for a double in game action. Also had a good round of BP. Showed good bat speed from a level swing path and showed a lot of promise with the bat. Would find another barrel to pull later on. 

 

Nixon Sharp (2030 3B, Langley, BC) clobbered a ball to deep left for a double in game action. Good strength at impact off the barrel and ball just carried with backspin. Made plays out at third as well. Good instincts and reacts well to the ball with sure hands. 

 

Eli Reese (2029 SS, Albany, OR) good barrel back up the middle for a base-hit in game action. Level swing path with some young budding bat speed that projects for more. Good hitter with bat to ball ability. 

 

10-Navy 

 

Chase Cervantes (2030 LHP, Redondo Beach, CA) showed good projection throughout his outing from a quality 3-pitch mix. Could locate the fastball and paired a good-looking change off it with some fade. Repeats arm speed and mimicked well. 

 

Tyler Fritz (2029 1B, Orange, CA) found a loud barrel in game action after putting on quite the display during BP. Powerful swing with good overall feel for the barrel. Bat speed present and power projects.

Camden Clabough (2029, Hemet, Calif.) added a double as he showed a good feel for the barrel and absolutely hammered one to centerfield. He burned the outfielder and saw it done, rolling nearly to the warning track, a good swing from the right-handed hitter. Added another hit later on, dropping one into right field for a single.

 

Gavin Carcelen (2029, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) was absolutely dominant on the mound in his outing. He flashed a mid- to upper-70s on his fastball with good arm-side life and plane to it. He showed an upper-60s slider in the mix with high-tilt shape and depth to it. He filled the zone and threw a bunch of strikes during his outing. Tons of whiffs and great feel to miss bats. Got it done at the dish, too, with a base knock to his credit.

 

Ty Purtell Loro (2030, San Diego Calif.) added a single with a real good swing. He stayed through it well and was able to work on the barrel and drive it back up the middle. Simple & smooth stroke shown, with feel to work on the barrel and drive it well. 

 

Hunter Hays (2028, Kingsburg, Calif.) showed a smooth stroke to connect and drive one into centerfield. He showed a good feel for the barrel. Picked up a single with a really nice piece of hitting for a line-drive base knock. 

 

Chace Lee (2029, San Gabriel, Calif.) stayed on this one after working the count deep. Did a good job staying on one and driving it the other way back up the middle, shaded into right-center. Simple stroke got it done with some athletic traits showing. 

 

Owen Schneller (2029, Lakewood, Wash.) worked 75-79 mph on the fastball, showing some life and occasional cut to it. He commanded the zone well and threw a bunch of strikes. He showed a curveball working the upper-60s with good depth and bite to it, spinning above 2,100 RPMs. He pieced together a good outing, missing bats, and punching out a bunch of hitters along the way. Added a triple later on at the plate, belting one into the left-center gap, good swing with strength off it. 

 

Aaron Hernandez (2029, Chino Hills, Calif.) working 75-78 mph on the fastball, with good life and occasional sink to it. He commanded the zone well during his outing and was able to punch out some hitters along the way. He flipped a low- to mid-60s curveball with big 11-5 shape and depth to it. He also got it done at the plate, grabbing a single working backside into RF. Showed a simple stroke with an easy swing on display. 

 

Max Weber (2030, Culver City, Calif.) burned the centerfielder on a ball he drove well back up the middle. Showed some lift in the swing and some feel to create loft. Good strength to impact as he parked this one deep back up the middle of the field. Came all the way around to score. 


Brandon Brady (2029, Westlake Village, Calif.) worked 76-79 mph on the fastball with a two- and four-seam offering in the bag. He commanded the zone really well with his outing, filling it up. He showed a high-tilt breaker with good bite in the mix as well, also flashing a harder changeup. He commanded the zone and threw strikes as well, with good feel to command all three offerings. Also got it done at the plate with a good swing to pick up a barreled up base knock.

Kaleb Sanner (2030 SS, Yorba Linda, CA) impressed today with overall athleticism and feel to hit. Put together several quality at-bats, got to a consistent fundamental hitting position and to the barrel multiple times.

Brooks Buoncristiani (2029 C, Upland, CA) catcher with some present strength and bat speed at the plate. Got to the barrel his first at-bat for a sharp base hit. One of the better EV's off the bat today.

John Dunbar (2029 MIF, View Park, CA) showed athletic traits in game today with the ability to move around the infield. Handled the barrel at the plate with a sharp line drive opposite field single as well. Plenty of developing traits.

Max Kelley (2029 SS, Orange, CA) showed some developing traits at the plate today. Compact swing with some present bat speed. Put a really good swing on a pitch in game for a sharp line drive base hit. Added another double later in the game on a ball driven to left field. Also showed base running instincts. Impressed all around today.

Julian Manzur (2029 OF, Monrovia, CA) one of the best swings of the day in game today. A line drive opposite field double that carried off the bat into the gap. Really well connected swing with bat speed.
