There was an element of unknown with South Carolina’s Joey Pankake heading into this spring, and that sounds strange considering he plays for one of the most notable baseball programs in the country. But, Pankake did not take the typical draft prospect route of showcasing himself last summer. He did not appear in the Cape Cod League, for Team USA or any other league. So, in a lot of ways, that makes what he’s able to do this spring all the more important and also makes it much more urgent for scouts to get more looks at him as we tick ever close to the draft.
