Sutton's Strokes another success

More than a decade ago, Rob and Kym Feidler honored their son Nolan as they founded the fundraising golf outing Strokes for the Little Folks. Nolan has been diagnosed with autism and the event annually benefits the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, its programs and families in Phoenix, Arizona. Opening its doors in 1997, SARRC has worked diligently to provide quality services and support to children and families affected by autism, while searching for answers to solve the mysteries surrounding the disorder.

Though the Feidlers have since moved to California, their legacy of raising needed funds and awareness was alive and well on Friday, February 28 with the ninth annual Sutton's Strokes for the Little Folks presented by Perfect Game. This year's event teed it up midday at the beautiful Biltmore Golf Club, with the field of nearly 100 golfers starting their day fueled by lunch donated by an Arizona favorite, Wildflower Bread Company. The unforgettable day was capped off by fellowship, fabulous food and a live acoustic set performed by award winning artist Ryan McIntyre.

As the presenting sponsor, Perfect Game encouraged its partners to join in the support and they stepped up. Louisville Slugger, Rawlings, Evoshield, Oakley and Leaf Trading Cards provided gifts for the golfers as well as auction and raffle items. Baseball Prospectus gave up their headlines and webspace to serve as the event's promotional partner.

The valley also lent a hand as Sanderson Ford, Grand Canyon University, Mountainside Fitness, Crescent Crown Beverages, Mutual of Omaha Bank, Wholesale Floors LLC, Hardison Downey Construction, Lawyers Title National Commercial Services and Trademark Visual all provided support as local businesses. The Arizona Cardinals and Phoenix Coyotes were generous in representing professional sports in the area.

Finally, the event helped to act as a charitable kickoff of the 2014 Cactus League with the San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Major League Baseball all providing support.

Planning is already underway for the 10th annual Sutton's Strokes for the Little Folks in February, 2015. We anxiously look forward to the continued growth of this great day as baseball, the people and businesses of Arizona and Perfect Game all work together for a truly worthy cause.
