Florida

Tampa Jesuit maintains the top spot but there is movement all over the Florida Regional Top 25. Olympia moves up to No. 2 as they are 10-0 on the year, and Columbus moves up to No. 3, sitting at 9-1, highlighted by wins over Archbishop McCarthy in the February 25 National Game of the Week, and Belen Jesuit in the first game played at the new Marlins Stadium in Miami.

Gulliver Prep suffered their second loss of the year and drops two spots to No. 4, followed by Archbishop McCarthy and American Heritage.

Three teams move into the top ten: undefeated Winter Springs, Coral Springs and Hialeah. Four schools enter the rankings for the first time with Nova coming in at No. 17, Bloomingdale at 19, Hagerty at 22, and Bishop Verot at 24.

Great Plains

The initial Great Plains Regional Rankings will be released with the Great Plains Regional Preview on Wednesday, March 14.

Mid-Atlantic

The first update of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings will be next Friday, March 16.

Midwest

The first update of the Midwest Regional Rankings will be Friday, March 23.

Northeast

The first update of the Northeast Regional Rankings will be Friday, March 23.

Northwest

The initial Northwest Regional Rankings will be released with the Northwest Regional Preview on Monday, March 12.

Pacific

Previous No. 1 Harvard-Westlake has lost two straight games, and more importantly has lost ace RHP Lucas Giolito for at least 4-6 weeks with a slight sprain of the UCL. It’s a huge loss for the Wolverines, but they remain a strong contender in the Mission League and in Division 2 of the CIF Southern Section. The Wolverines slide to No. 5 this week and will turn to lefty Max Fried to stop their losing streak in this afternoon’s rematch with Alemany.

For their part Alemany moves up to No. 3 after beating No. 4 Valencia and accomplishing the improbable: beating Lucas Giolito. If they can keep their momentum through the weekend look for them to make an appearance in the National Top 50 Rankings.

3-1 Mater Dei ascends to the top spot in spite of a surprising loss to upstart Huntington Beach, who jumps all the way up to No. 6 after going 4-0 against previously No. 2 Mater Dei, previous No. 4 Bishop Amat and a couple of more solid wins against Tesoro and Gahr.  

St. Franics jumps back into the rankings, debuting at No. 10 thanks to a 6-0 start to the season. While the Lancers are traditionally strong, they turned over their entire infield due to graduation, including supplemental first rounder Tyler Goeddel. They appear to have reloaded quickly.

The other new addition this week is No. 21 Mayfair who is off to a 4-0 start after knocking off previously undefeated Upland 5-1 last night and has now allowed just two runs in their first four games.

Southeast

The first update of the Southeast Region shows a lot of movement throughout. Columbus (GA) has been one of the hottest teams in the nation beating Pace (FL) and Russell County (AL). They take over the top spot with previous top ranked Parkview (GA) falling a spot after losing to Cartersville (GA).

Barbe (LA) is up to no. 3 and Farragut (TN) who opens their season next week sits at No. 4. Madison Central (MS) rounds out the top five.

Six new teams enter the ranks, four of them from Alabama. Fairhope (AL) is at No. 7, Bob Jones (AL) at 13, Hueytown at 17, and Vestavia Hills at 21. Oak Grove (MS) and Etowah (GA) are the other additions, entering at Nos. 10 and 14 respectively.

The state of Georgia has 10 ranked teams, Mississippi and Alabama 4, Louisiana 3, Tennessee 2, and one from Arkansas.

Southwest

Arizona and New Mexico are the only two stats that have begun play in the region, while Utah opens their season today.

2011 5A Division 1 runner-up Hamilton (AZ) makes a ten spot jump all the way up to No. 3 after ripping off six straight victories to overcome an opening day loss. 7-2 Desert Mountain (AZ) climbs up to No. 4 in spite of losing their most recent game, thanks to quality wins over four ranked teams: No. 13 Saguaro, No. 17 Chaparral and No. 5 Horizon.

New Mexico’s early season shakeup has left traditional powerhouse La Cueva as the top team, coming in at No. 10. In the 5A state title game last year La Cueva knocked off Volcano Vista 11-10, and at 3-0 the Hawks look strong again, coming in as the second ranked team in the state behind La Cueva at No. 14. They are followed by fellow 3-0 Carlsbad at No. 15.

Texahoma

The top two teams the region, CC Carroll and Calallen remained steady, rolling to a combined record of 18-0. Meanwhile red-hot Klein Collins climbs to No. 3 thanks to a nine game winning streak.

Oklahoma’s top ranked team remains Edmond Santa Fe, who comes in at No. 6. But perennial powerhouse Owasso is charging hard with an impressive 5-0 run to start the season to move up to No. 7. Owasso will be tested as they travel to Florida this week for a spring break tournament, where they suffered one of just two losses all season last year. 3-0 Deer Creek played their way into the top 25, debuting in the final spot at No. 25.

New additions this week include: No. 18 Fossil Ridge, No. 20 Strake Jesuit, and No. 25 Deerk Creek (OK).
