One year to the day after the 2010
Aflac All-American Classic (now known as the Perfect Game
All-American Classic presented by Rawlings) the 25 players that played in last year's event that were drafted and signed, as well as 12 high profile college and junior college signees that had previously played in the event, signed for an incredible $66,542,500 collectively. That is an average of nearly $1.8 million per player.
The total also represents over 28-percent of the reported $235,989,050 spent on all signed draftees.
The signing deadline for players that were drafted in June to
sign was at midnight EST on Monday night, as the 37 former
All-Americans now begin
their professional careers.
2007 All-American Gerrit Cole received
the most notable of these bonuses, a record $8,000,000 from the
Pittsburgh Pirates as the No. 1 overall pick. Cole was a
first-rounder in 2008 as well, taken by the New York Yankees, but
decided to spend three years at UCLA before embarking on his pro
career.
A total of 13 players who played in the
2010 Classic were taken in the first and supplemental first rounds of
this year's draft, and were joined by five players from the college
ranks that had played in the game prior to 2010.
Of all of the 2010 players drafted
and signed, 11 received bonuses of $2 million or more. Five more
former All-Americans drafted from the college and junior college also
received a bonus of $2 million or more.
Five additional players from the 2010
game and two from the college ranks that played prior to 2010
received at least seven-figure bonuses.

The most notable of the players that
did not sign is the 21st overall pick of the Toronto Blue
Jays, Tyler Beede. Beede reportedly turned down $2.4 million to
honor his commitment to Vanderbilt.
Other 2010 All-Americans that were
drafted but did not sign (round selected and college commitment in
parenthesis) include Andrew Suarez (9, Miami), Deshorn Lake (12, East Carolina), Billy Flamion (25, Oregon), Joshua Tobias
(31, Florida), John Magliozzi (35, Florida), Ricardo Jacquez (39,
Texas), Austin Slater (44, Stanford) and Philip Pfeifer (44,
Vanderbilt).
Dylan Davis (Oregon State), Daniel Mengden (Texas A&M), Brandon Sedell (Florida) and Sean Trent
(Florida) were not drafted, largely due to their college commitments.
