South Carolina might be having some injury issues, but its not letting it show on the baseball diamond. The Gamecocks picked up an SEC series sweep over Auburn over the weekend, and remains No. 1 in the latest Perfect Game Top 25 rankings.

While the Gamecocks once again headline the rankings, the rest of the top five includes Virginia, Vanderbilt, Florida and Texas, in that order. The Longhorns are the new entrants to the top five after having a great week that included a midweek win over Texas State and home series win over Oklahoma.

No team dropped out of the top 10, though Texas A&M and Georgia Tech each dropped after losing series to Missouri and Clemson, respectively. Elsewhere around the rankings, Southern Mississippi moved from No. 18 to No. 13 following a road series win over East Carolina, while Stetson moved from No. 17 to No. 14 after sweeping North Florida.

Clemson, Connecticut, Kent State and Georgia entered the rankings. The Tigers had a huge week that included a weekend series win over Georgia Tech, the Huskies continued their dominance in the Big East, Kent State improved to 15-3 in the MAC with a series sweep over Ohio and Georgia improved to 13-8 in the SEC with a series win over Arkansas.

The conference breakdowns are as follows:  ACC 6, Pac-10 5, Big 12 4, SEC 4 and Conference USA, Big East, MWC, Big West, Sun Belt, Atlantic Sun and WAC all with one representative.

The Perfect Game Top 25 is released each Monday during the season, and always will include an additional listing of 25 teams to watch and a live chat with college baseball managing editor Kendall Rogers.

Cape Cod League Notebook: July 18

Brandon Shannon | Fr. | RHP | Louisville | Bourne Braves  The freshman right-hander possesses arguably the most electric arm on the Cape, pairing a lean, projectable frame with plenty of room to continue adding strength. Shannon worked an effortless 96-98 mph throughout the outing with premium arm speed. His mid-80s slider generates plenty of swing-and-miss, while his 92-93 mph power changeup gives him a quality third offering to neutralize left-handed hitters. After flashing premium stuff during his freshman season at Louisville, Shannon has carried that arsenal into the summer and possesses the type of arm talent to develop into a Day 1 draft prospect as he continues refining his command and overall polish.    Another look at 1B/P Josiah Overbeek (@HailStateBB) Pull side RBI single here. @BourneBraves https://t.co/YA17RJnFo8 pic.twitter.com/Jw7iDMliZG — PG College...
