More Scores/Capsules from July 15 and July 16 Games

JULY 15 (Evening) East Cobb As 17s 11, Douglasville Bison 0 The East Cobb As mismatched the Douglasville Bisons in a 4 inning game 11-0. Only 1 Bisons hitter reached base, that on an error, as As starter LHP Matt Erwood (04 Marist HS, Atlanta) struck out 8 of the 9 batters he faced in 3 innings of work. LHP Ben Porch (04, Woodstock HS, Canton, GA) finished up with 2 innings of work. The As scored at least 2 runs in each of their 4 at bats. DH Bobby Rowan (04, Lassiter HS, Marietta, GA) had 2 hits and 4 Rbis to lead the As offense. 2B Steve Staruch (04, Walton HS, Marietta, GA) had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, as did RF Brett Lane (04, Cedartown HS, GA). Lane also had 3 Rbis. East Cobb Dodgers 0, Indiana Mustangs 0 RHP Jon Dages (04, Lawrence North HS, Indianapolis) of the Indiana Mustangs and RHP Michael Bohana (04, Roswell HS, GA) matched up in a 0-0 pitchers dual, the second 0-0 tie of the first day of the Tournament. Although Bohana threw harder, touching 88 mph almost every inning, both hurlers matched performances almost exactly, each allowing 4 hits while striking out 9. The closest the Mustangs came to scoring was in the second, when 1B Jeff Alexander (04, Bishop Chatard HS, Indianapolis) doubled to lead off the innings and was singled to 3rd by Dages twin brother Joe. But Bohana struck out the next 3 hitters to leave the runners stranded. Only one East Cobb runner advanced as far as second base. CF Tyler Marzofka (04, Forsyth Central HS, Cumming, GA) doubled to lead off the 5th inning and went to third on a ground out, but Dages struck out the last 2 hitters to end the threat. Bellaire 1, East Cobb Seminoles 1 The East Cobb Seminoles and Bellaire played to a crisp 1-1 tie in the opening game for both teams. Ironically, both teams leadoff hitters scored in the first inning with the help of defensive errors and neither team was able score for the rest of the game. RHP Ryan Perry (04) threw a complete game for Bellaire, while HRP Stephen Dodson (04, The Wesleyan School, Norcross, GA) threw 6 strong innings for East Cobb. Bellaire left runners on base every inning except for the 7th and had 2 runners thrown out trying to advance on the bases. East Cobb had far fewer opportunities to score but left a runner on third base at the end of the game. Delaware Diamondbacks 3, East Cobb Tigers 2 LF Alex Castillo (04, Vineland HS, Millville, NJ) knocked a key 2 out 2 run single in the 2nd inning and RHP Joe Noyes (04, Lenape HS, Mt. Laurel, NJ) made it stand up for 7 innings in a 3-2 Delaware Diamonds win over the East Cobb Tigers. The Diamondbacks also pushed across a run in the 5th on a single by PH Chris Fullman (04, Brandywine HS, Wilmington, DE), the only other inning the threatened any of the 3 Tigers pitchers. Noyes allowed 9 hits but didnt walk a hitter while striking out 11. 2B Mitchell Sutter (04, Milton HS, Alpharetta, GA) had 3 hits for East Cobb, while DH Ben Gottlieb (04, Holy Innocents Episcopal HS, Atlanta, GA) and CF Joe Thomas (04, Greater Atlanta Christian HS, Duluth, GA) had 2 hits apiece. East Cobb Yankees 4, Nor Cal Combined 3 The East Cobb Yankees edged the Nor Cal Combined team 4-3 in late action on Tuesday night. Nor Cal scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to bring the scored to 4-3 but had a runner thrown out stealing to end a threat in the 6th and bounced into a double play with 2 runners on in the 7th to end the contest. RHP Ben Neville (05, Walton HS, Marietta, GA) was the winning pitcher, while his Walton HS classmate Ross Garrett got the save. 2B Jonathan Crowe (05, Pope HS, Marietta, GA) singled twice and scored 2 runs for East Cobb. RF Danny Czeczil (05, Walton HS) also had 2 hits. JULY 16 (morning) Diamond One Baseball 4 (1-1), Tallahassee Chiles 0 (1-1) RHP Andy Matusek threw a complete game 2-hitter to lead Diamond One Baseball to a 4-0 win over the Tallahassee Chiles. The Chiles didnt have a runner advance past 2nd base. 1B Travis Lydon (04, St. Edwards HS, Westlake, OH) gave Diamond One all the runs they needed with a 2 run home run in the 5th inning to break a 0-0 tie. Diamond One scored 2 more runs in the 6th. 2B Greg Feltes (04, St. Ignatius HS, Rocky River, OH) led off the inning with a double and eventually scored on a wild pitch. SS Pete Antoske (03) drove in a run with a single later in the inning, his second hit of the game. Nor Cal 04s 4 (2-0), Ann Arbor 3 (0-2) Nor Cal 04s scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to beat Ann Arbor 4-3. Nor Cal used the combination of their second hole hitter, SS Alex Feinberg (04, Miramonte HS, Orinda,CA) and third hole hitter, RF DJ Butler (04, Benicia HS, CA) to lead their offense. Feinberg and Butler led off the 4th inning with consecutive singles that led to Nor Cals first run. The duo upped the ante with back to back doubles to lead off the 6th innng and both eventually scored. 2B Matt Couch (04, Del Campo HS, Gold River, CA) drove in the lead run with a 2-out single. RHP Jeremy McChesney (04, Valley Christian HS, San Jose, CA) got the win with 2 innings of work. The Red Sox took the opposite approach, being shutout by Team Ontario RHP Tom Boleska (04, Notre Dame HS, Burlington, ON) for 5 2/3s innings before back to back hits by Vazquez and DH Nate Ramirez (05, Reagan HS) plated the tying run. Championship teams often reveal themselves when the game isn’t going their way. Performance Baseball 2028/Milwaukee Brewers Scout Team did exactly that. Trailing Florida Burn 2028 Scout through four innings, the Brewers refused to panic. Instead, they relied on timely hitting, consistent pitching, and an unselfish approach at the plate, rallying a five-run fifth inning before pulling away for a 9-5 victory to clinch their spot in the semifinals. The comeback was fueled by contributions throughout the lineup. Six different players drove in runs, including two RBIs each from Aiden Capobianco and Cameron Massey, while Matthew Heredia, Parker Weston, Ethan Smith, and Aj Bonnette each added an RBI of their own. On the mound, Derek Wenzel set the tone with 3.2 solid innings before Ethan Smith shut the door in relief, helping preserve the comeback victory. Although the Brewers have had a...

On the second day of the 2026 Perfect Game National Elite Championship, one swing turned heads across the ballpark. The next one brought everyone to a stop. With Wow Factor Nation 16U trailing midway through its matchup against Sandlot Scout Team 2028, Micheal O'Connor launched a solo home run to spark the offense. Just one batter later, Aaron Frink stepped into the box and sent another ball over the fence, delivering back-to-back home runs that quickly became one of the most talked about moments of the tournament’s opening days. Parents gathered along the nets, players from previous games stopped to watch, and college scouts turned their attention toward the action as the two towering swings energized the crowd and brought new life to the game. Although Wow Factor Nation ultimately lost 5-3 after a hard-fought performance, the back-to-back home runs served as a reminder of the...

17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4  Day 5 | Day 6 Shea Corona (2027, Brooklyn, N.Y.) showcased some loud stuff out of the bullpen for MLB Breakthrough Series 2027. The New York native and primary shortstop topped out at 93 with the fastball, sitting comfortable in the 90-92 range. Corona paired it with a sharp and tight slider at 81-83, staying on the same plane until late. The pitch plays well already and the delivery is very athletic. The uncommitted right-hander went three scoreless and was in the zone plenty, striking out two while not allowing a walk. '27 SS Moises Gudino (FL) continues to stay red hot, working a long AB & cracking an oppo 2B on the 8th pitch. Flames Natty used timely hitting and a dominant start from Beau Collier to defeat NLB American 7-3 and capture the 18U BCS National Championship on Monday at Lee Health Sports Complex. Despite being assembled just hours before the tournament began, the Flames quickly developed chemistry throughout the tournament. “This team was put together 12 hours before this tournament, and they went on a crazy run,” head coach Adam Vasquez said. “These kids know each other locally, but they don’t play together. For them to come together last minute like that, it’s crazy. I’m proud of them for that.” The game opened as a pitchers’ duel, with David Acevedo recording the lone hit through the first two innings. NLB American starter Hayden Graham kept the Flames in check early, allowing just one hit while striking out one over 2.0 innings. The right-hander...

Sawyer took home MVP honors after finishing with nine hits, six going for extra bases including two home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored. It’s electric at...

Austin Lyons (2028, Cibolo, Texas) put on a display for Canes Southwest Prime 16U. Went 7-14 at the plate with a pair of doubles and triples, while driving in 13 runs. He won Tournament MVP for his efforts. Physical left-handed frame with feel to hit to all fields. Utilizes the middle of the field as well as the opposite field efficiently. Should be a force to be reckoned with as he grows into some more power. Evan Rosales (2027, Houston, Texas) was dominant on the mound for HP 2027 Allen. Went five shutout innings over the weekend, surrendering just one hit and two walks while striking out ten. Fastball lives 83-87 with some carry. Curveball is a heavy 12/6 downer at 69-74. North-south approach with a super steep release. Showed some really good feel for the zone and sequenced effectively to keep hitters off balance.
