1. Chicago White Sox: Roch Cholowsky, SS, UCLA

There has been a lot of debate in recent weeks of who the White Sox will select. As of this moment, we still have them going with our wire to wire No. 1 prospect in Roch Cholowsky. The UCLA shortstop should fast track to the big leagues as a premium defender with big time upside at the plate. 



2. Tampa Bay Rays: Grady Emerson, SS, Fort Worth Christian

Grady Emerson has a chance to hear his name be the first one called, but if he does not go to Chicago it will be hard for the Rays not to select the Texas prep shortstop. Emerson features an advanced left-handed bat with a glove that will stick at shortstop. There are present tools with big time upside.  

3. Minnesota Twins: Vahn Lackey, C, Georgia Tech

Lackey is another name that has been mentioned in talks at 1:1. The Georgia Tech backstop put together an absurd spring with video game numbers. He is a big of a unicorn, as a backstop that features supreme athleticism and loud offensive tools. 

4. San Francisco Giants: Jacob Lombard, SS, Gulliver Schools

Lombard is arguably the best athlete in the entire class and comes with big league bloodlines. He is a 70-grade runner with smooth actions at shortstop. There is big power at the plate, but the profile does come with hit tool risk that have caused some doubts by some evaluators at times this spring. If it all clicks, it is a supremely high ceiling. 

5. Pittsburgh Pirates: Jackson Flora, RHP, UC Santa Barbara

Flora separated himself from the rest of the arm in the class and should be the first pitcher off the board. The UCSB right-hander posted a near 1.00 ERA with big strikeout numbers this spring. The stuff is absurd with massive upside. It's a triple digit heater with a slider, sweeper, and changeup.

6. Kansas City Royals: Drew Burress, OF, Georgia Tech

Plenty of people tried to nitpick Drew Burress due to his smaller stature, but you cannot argue with his performance and tools. Another strong season, capped off an outstanding collegiate career that will earn him a Top-10 selection. It is big power with above-average ability in center field. 

7. Baltimore Orioles: Eric Booth Jr., OF, Oak Grove

Booth quickly shot up boards this spring and has maintained that status here until the end. He is definitely in play at some picks higher than this, but seems like a sure-fire Top-10 selection nonetheless. The left-handed hitting outfielder is a nice mix of athleticism, contact skills, and power potential that plenty of evaluators have raved about. 

8. Athletics: Chris Hacopian, SS, Texas A&M

Hacopian is one of the more advanced collegiate bats in the class. The under the hood metrics stand out and give him a chance to quickly accelerate through a system once in pro bal. The Athletics have had plenty of success with collegiate hitters recently and Hacopian could be the next in line. 

9. Atlanta Braves: Ryder Helfrick, C, Arkansas

Helfrick may not be the top catcher on the board, but he brings loud tools that should earn him a Top-10 selection. The backstop provides big time power at the plate to go with advanced defensive ability behind the plate. There will be plenty of teams interested in him in the early part of the first round.

10. Colorado Rockies: Tyler Bell, SS, Kentucky

Bell is a name that continues to generate buzz as we get closer to draft day. The Kentucky shortstop could very much go higher than this, but for now we have him here at No. 10 to Colorado. He provides a well-rounded profile with switch-hitting ability and tools on both sides of the ball. 

11. Washington Nationals: Jared Grindlinger, LHP/OF, Huntington Beach

It was fairly late in the process when Grindlinger decided to reclassify and join the 2026 class. Since the moment, the SoCal product has been rising up boards. While many thought originally he was going to be an arm, teams have been significantly interested in the bat with a chance to go this high as a hitter. 

12. Los Angeles Angels: Cameron Flukey, RHP, Coastal Carolina

The spring did not go according to plan for Flukey. The right-hander unfortunately only made one start before missing a large chunk of time due to a non-arm injury. He managed to find his way back to the mound and showed the premium stuff that should cause his name to go in the top half of the first round. 

13. St. Louis Cardinals: AJ Gracia, OF, Virginia

Gracia is a bat that could be in play anywhere from pick six and on. The Virginia outfielder is a left-handed hitter with a strong feel to hit and big power potential. The glove is destined for a corner spot, but the bat is good enough to go very early on day one. 

14. Miami Marlins: Derek Curiel, OF, LSU

Derek Curiel stock this spring fluctuated pretty significantly at times. He entered the year right around this spot, before falling down boards due to concerts about his impact. Now the LSU outfielder once again looks like he should go here in the mid-teens. The glove should stick in center field and there is plenty to like with the bat. 

15. Arizona Diamondbacks: Gio Rojas, LHP, Marjory Stoneman Douglas

Rojas put together another strong spring performance and has cemented himself as the top prep arm on the board. He could be a guy that goes higher than this when it is all said and done, thanks to the upside out of the prep left-hander. 

16. Texas Rangers: Liam Peterson, RHP, Florida

Peterson has some of the biggest upside in the class, but does come with some risk. The Florida right-hander features power stuff and can look like the best arm in the class when he is at his best. Command issues bring a fair amount of risk to the profile, but the upside might be too good to turn down here. 

17. Houston Astros: Justin Lebron, SS, Alabama

There were times this spring that Justin Lebron looked like a potential Top-5 pick. But after struggling once again in conference play and inconsistent play on both sides of the ball, Lebron has seen his stock drop. There will be a point in the first round where teams will have to weigh the risk with the massive upside and here at 17, that becomes a spot where the upside may be too high to turn down. 

18. Cincinnati Reds: Trevor Condon, OF, Etowah

Condon is a player that has played his way up boards with a loud spring. The Georgia prep left-hander is a twitchy athlete with high offensive upside and tools on the defensive side. He has been a steady performer over the last year or so and should earn himself a selection early on day one.  

19. Cleveland Guardians: Mason Edwards, LHP, USC

Edwards had about as good of a season you could ask for. The left-hander from USC posted monster numbers and has the stuff to go in the first round. A team like Cleveland feels like a perfect fit where the stuff could take another step forward. If he slips past this spot, I would not imagine he lasts much longer. 

20. Boston Red Sox: Ace Reese, 3B, Mississippi State

Reese will be in play for any team considering college bats from around pick ten to here. The Mississippi State third baseman does come with some risk, but there is significant left-handed power and some feel to hit. The value would be strong here for the Red Sox. 

21. San Diego Padres: Cade Townsend, RHP, Ole Miss

There are a handful of college arms that will be in the mix here with Cade Townsend being one of them. The Ole Miss right-hander features a deep mix that allows him to attack hitters in a variety of ways. The Padres could instantly add an arm that quickly accelerates through the system in Townsend. 

22. Detroit Tigers: Sawyer Strosnider, OF, TCU

Sawyer Strosnider is a player that could go anywhere in the teens. Concerns with the hit tool could cause him to slide a bit, but the Tigers might have a hard time passing on the tools here. He is an advanced athlete with a chance to stick in center field, along with power upside at the plate. 

23. Chicago Cubs: Eric Becker, SS, Virginia

The Cubs could be in the mix for a college arm, but Eric Becker here at No. 23 would be a solid get. The Virginia shortstop provides a reliable profile with quality value on both sides of the ball. The upside may not be as high as other potential fits here, but it is a high floor. 

24. Seattle Mariners: Hunter Dietz, LHP, Arkansas

The journey for Hunter Dietz has not been an easy one. The left-hander had to battle injuries for multiple seasons, but found his way back onto a mound this spring and showed loud stuff. It appears the Mariners are interested in a handful of college arms and would get a good one here in Dietz. 

25. Milwaukee Brewers: Cole Prosek, IF/C, Magnolia Heights

Prosek is one of the better prep hitters in the class and has made his way into this first round conversation. The Mississippi prep has shown he can play catcher this spring, adding even more value to the profile. The Brewers have turned into a player development factory and Prosek would be an outstanding fit. 

26. Atlanta Braves: Cole Carlon, LHP, Arizona State

Carlon took over a starting role this spring and excelled. With the left-hander proving he can handle a starting role, his value skyrocketed. The Braves would have to be very satisfied getting his type of talent with their second pick. 

27. New York Mets: Aiden Robbins, OF, Texas

Aiden Robbins put together a loud season after transferring to Texas. There is obvious upside with the bat, but the glove may be better suited for a corner spot long term. Robbins profiles well here near the backend of the first. 

28. Houston Astros: Logan Hughes, OF, Texas Tech

Hughes has put up impressive seasons back to back for the Red Raiders and should be in play here around the comp round. The outfielder possesses a strong feel to hit, along with power from the left side. Hughes has posted 37 homers with a 76:57 BB:K ratio over the past two seasons. 

29. San Francisco Giants: Carson Bolemon, LHP, Southside Christian Schools

Bolemon had some evaluators back off at times this spring, but the left-hander appears to be gaining steam yet again. He will have some potential suitors in the back half of the first round and looks like the comp round will be his floor. 

30. Kansas City Royals: Bo Lowrance, 3B, Christ Church Episcopal

Lowrance has a lot of potential suitors among the backend of the first round. The Royals would be ecstatic to get him here with their second pick. Lowrance is a quality left-handed bat with the ability to impact the baseball. 

31. Arizona Diamondbacks: Daniel Jackson, C, Georgia

Jackson posted a monster spring and has skyrocketed up boards. The Golden Spikes winner provides big time power at the plate and an advanced run tool that allows him to steal bases at a high rate. He may not stick behind the plate long term, but the bat will put him in play at the backend of the first round. 

32. St. Louis Cardinals: Taylor Rabe, RHP, Ole Miss

Rabe was not on many radars before the spring, but has now been climbing up boards rapidly. The fastball works into the triple digits to go with a cutter, breaking ball, and changeup. A strong performance late in the year has added value to the profile. Rabe will be in play anywhere in the backend of the first round. 

33. Tampa Bay Rays: Joey Volchko, RHP, Georgia

Joey Volchko is a guy that could wind up in a handful of spots both before or after this point. The performance and stuff has been a bit of a rollercoaster throughout his collegiate career. There is no denying the upside that comes with the right-hander, but teams will have to have faith in their player development department and take on the fairly significant risk that comes with Volchko.

34. Pittsburgh Pirates: Brody Bumila, LHP, Bishop Feehan

Bumila will have potential suitors higher than this, but we have him slotted here at No. 34 as of now. He possesses some of the best upside in the class if it all clicks. The left-hander is an imposing figure with big time velocity and the ability to miss bats at a high rate. 

35. New York Yankees: Caden Sorrell, OF, Texas A&M

Caden Sorrell has no shortage of tools. He is a physical left-handed bat with athleticism. Swing and miss concerns likely keeps him at or near the back end of the first round. At that point, the power/speed combination becomes a lot hard to pass up. 

36. Philadelphia Phillies: Tegan Kuhns, RHP, Tennessee

Tegan Kuhns will be in play at a couple of spots later in the first round. If he manages to slip by them, here in the mid-30’s looks to be where he winds up. The right-hander is a mix of present stuff and athleticism. He spins the baseball well and has plenty of velocity behind the heater. 

37. Colorado Rockies: Logan Schmidt, LHP, Ganesha

Schmidt is a name that has some volatility to it. He could go higher than this or he could end up on campus if his bonus demands end up being too much. The left-hander is supremely talented with big upside if it all clicks. His ultimate landing spot may be up in the air all the way until draft day. 

38. Colorado Rockies: Zion Rose, OF/C, Louisville

Rose is a name that might ultimately wind up in the first round, but we got him slotted here at No. 38 as of now. In a market where college bats are on the rise, Rose has the tools to go high. He has a mix of bat to ball skills and impact.  

39. Toronto Blue Jays: Archer Horn, SS/RHP, St. Ignatius College Prep

Horn is a name that continues to gain steam as we approach Saturday. There is obvious upside on both sides of the ball. Teams will have to steer him away from a Stanford commit, which is never an easy task, but the athleticism and tools are impressive. 

40. Los Angeles Dodgers: Sean Duncan, LHP, Terry Fox Secondary School

The Dodgers have a limited pool to work with so they will have to get creative here at No 40. Canadian left-hander Sean Duncan could be a sneaky under slot grab with upside to buy. The fastball can work into the mid-90’s with a potential plus slider and quality changeup.

Leading the way is shortstop Brendan Lawson out of the University of Florida, setting the trend as three of the top four names all call shortstop home with Dylan Seward and Carter Hadnot. After an action-packed week at the 16u WWBA Championships, the tournament came down to two of the nation’s top teams battling for one of travel baseball’s most prestigious titles. No. 5 ranked SBA Bolts National faced No. 60 Alpha Prime 2028 after both teams reached the championship undefeated, but the SBA Bolts were the sole team to exit without a loss, defeating Alpha Prime 10-2 in mercy rule fashion and capture the national title behind dominant pitching and explosive offensive performances. Ridge Whitfield (2029, Charlotte, NC) stands at 6-foot, 158 pounds with an athletic build that should allow him to maintain his mobility and quick-twitch actions as he continues to develop. He bats and throws left-handed. Whitfield locates his fastball to both sides of the plate, mixes his pitches effectively, and keeps hitters off balance. He competes on every pitch and doesn’t back down in big situations. Whitfield threw 5.1 innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, and no walks while striking out three on 75 pitches (58% strikes). He attacked the zone with a fastball that sat 73 mph and topped out at 78 mph, mixing in a 67 mph breaking ball and a 68-70 mph changeup to keep hitters off balance. Jake Karpell (2030, Holmdel, NJ) got on the barrel a couple times in game five and totaled three rbis. Started his production with a single then later on hammered a heater down the right field and flew around the bases for a three run inside the park home run. Keeps the hands inside at contact really well and got the head around on the homer. Runs well and can hit it around the yard in the approach.  Luke Sauer (2030 C, FL)  put his hit tool on display with a well-struck double, continuing to show why he is regarded as one of the top catchers in the class. Owns a big frame with present physicality and does a good job keeping the hands connected throughout the swing. The amateur players in the Cape Cod Baseball League are the future stars of the 2027 MLB Draft. The league runs from June 13th through August 2nd. Games are played at historic stadiums in Old New England towns. It’s beautiful and charming. Hollywood even made a movie about the Cape Cod League ~25 years ago called Summer Catch. It scored an 8% (!) on Rotten Tomatoes, but, on the plus side, it featured 2001 Jessica Biel in a starring role.  It was so much fun writing Coppy’s Column this spring. My hope is to highlight a pitcher and position player each week from the Cape. The 14U division brought together 19 talented teams for a week of high-level competition, with players from California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania battling for the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in youth baseball. Throughout the tournament, ZT Select Prospects showed consistency, resilience, and the ability to compete in close games.
