High School Top 50 Update: March 17

We have another update to the National Top-50 after two weeks of even more games being played in the southern states along with seasons just starting to kick off across the country. We’re quickly approaching another stellar high school event, the NHSI in Cary, and with that will come even more movement in these rankings.

St. John Bosco (CA) continues to hold firm at the No. 1 position after a 4-0 start to their season. Venice (FL) has been rolling throughout the early portion of the year and jumps up to No. 2 in the country. One of the biggest movers in this update is The Bennett School (TX) jumping from unranked to No. 8 in the country after beating a handful of top ranked programs to start the year. Some other big movers inside the top-10 are Barbe (LA), who jumps from No. 18 to No. 5 in this update as well as Aledo (TX) who jumps from No. 20 to No. 9. The rest of the top-10 fills out with plenty of familiar faces and teams that are supremely talented.

We welcome in some fresh faces into the National Top-50 as well with this rendition having six new teams. Tampa Catholic (FL) is the highest ranked new team in the Top-50 as the debut at No. 32 after an 11-1 start to the year. Keller (TX) comes in at No. 35 after starting 16-1-2 with their only loss coming against a top-10 team. Bishop Snyder (FL) is off to a quick start at 12-1 and comes in at No. 36 as well as Farragut (TN) debuting at No. 38 after a 5-1 start with wins over some great programs. Santa Margarita (CA) has been rolling so far throughout the year and debuts in this edition at No. 41. Dorman (SC) takes over the top spot in the Palmetto state and sits at No. 46 after rolling to a 7-0 start. Tomball (TX) has been one of the top programs for quite some time and is off to another fast start this year, debuting at No. 45 after an undefeated start and will continue to rise if they continue winning.

As with any National High School update, there is sure to be even more movement in the coming weeks, especially after the NHSI tournament in Cary next week. Make sure to continue following along with us as we provide national and state updates in the coming weeks as we head towards the later portion of the season in the southern states and get the high school season started in the northern portion of the country.

No Luck Needed for the Shamrocks

The spring has come to a close and with the summer in full swing, it’s time to crown a National Champion for the High School season. The Trinity Shamrocks out of Louisville, Kentucky had an incredible year and finished the season winning back-to-back state titles, more impressively finishing on a 24 game winning streak. The spring was filled with dominant performances from the Shamrocks, led by PG All-American Grayson Willoughby who turned in a dominant effort in the state title game, a game in which they won 12-0. They played a rigorous schedule that saw them go 2-2 at NHSI including a win over St. John Bosco (CA) as well as a win over Tampa Jesuit (FL), both of which would go on to win state titles in powerhouse baseball states. Every championship team has an identity. For Canes Midwest 14U National, it could be summed up in three simple words. "Why not us?" That became the team’s motto throughout the week, and by championship day, the players had turned those words into reality. Canes Midwest capped off a memorable tournament with a 8-4 victory over Canes National 14U, finishing an undefeated 11-0 run over six days while proving they belonged among the nation’s top teams. It was a championship built on timely hitting, dominant defense, relentless grit, and a belief that never wavered. 16u PG Elite Back in Hoover

One of the summer’s biggest events returns to Hoover this week as the nation’s top 16U teams prepare to compete in the 2026 Perfect Game National Elite Championship. Now entering its seventh year, the invite-only event continues to bring together many of the country’s best teams and players for one of the most competitive tournaments on the summer calendar. This tournament will host 104 teams from all across the country, all with the same goal of leaving Hoover as champions. Every successful team has talent, but the teams that make great summer ball runs often have something more. For Furia Prospects 2030, that difference has been a consistent commitment to playing for one another. The Texas-based team earned a 4-0 victory over East Cobb Astros 14U to secure their spot in the semifinals, combining dominant pitching with timely offense and another complete team performance. Christian Choe set the tone on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out three over 4.2 innings before Blaine Jackson closed out the final four outs to preserve the shutout. At the plate, Brody Peterson paced the offense with a 2-for-3 performance and two RBI, while Mark De Leon and Jancarlos Nunez each drove in a run.
