DICK’S PERFECT GAME ALL-AMERICAN CLASSIC TO RETURN TO

SAN DIEGO’S PETCO PARK IN 2025

Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman Returns as the Game’s Honorary Chairman

Weekend will also feature the PG All-Star Game and Launch Hydrate Home Run Challenge

Sanford, Florida (Wednesday, February 5, 2025) - Perfect Game, the world’s largest youth baseball and softball platform and scouting service, today announced that the 23rd annual DICK’s All-American Classic, Perfect Game’s premiere event of the travel baseball season, will return to Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, on Sunday, August 17, 2025. This marks the first time the event will be held at Petco Park since 2021, with the centerpiece venue having previously hosted the AAC 14 times from 2006-07, 2009-19, and in 2021.

For the past three years, the DICK’s Perfect Game All-American Classic was played at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ari., but 2025’s return to Petco Park brings the game back to its longest-tenured home in Southern California. As one of the most anticipated events in amateur baseball, the All-American Classic brings together the top 60 high school baseball players from across North America, providing them with an unparalleled platform to showcase their talents on a national stage.

MLB Hall of Famer and Padres executive Trevor Hoffman will return as the Honorary Chairman for the All-American Classic, a role he previously held from 2011-21. Hoffman, who is an investor with Perfect Game, played 16 of his 19 major league seasons with the Padres, compiling a 2.76 ERA and 552 saves in 1,035 games with the team.

“What a thrill it is for Perfect Game and the Padres to bring the All-American Classic back to Petco Park,” said Hoffman. “The Classic is something young baseball players work hard to be a part of, and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase the best of the best in America’s finest city.”

In addition to the All-American Classic, Perfect Game will also hold annual events such as the PG All-Star Game, featuring the top players of the 2027 and 2028 classes, and the Launch Hydrate Home Run Challenge, both of which will take place at Petco Park, along with its star-studded awards banquet, which will be held at Eve. Eve, operated by the team’s Special Events department, is the newest event venue located in downtown San Diego. The All-American Classic, All-Star Game and Home Run Challenge will all stream live on PerfectGame.TV and the free PGTV app, giving fans around the world the opportunity to witness the future stars of baseball in action.

“We are very excited to bring DICK’s Perfect Game All-American Classic back to Petco Park,” said Perfect Game CEO Rob Ponger. “The AAC is the longest-running amateur All-America game and San Diego has always been a special place for this event with a lot of local support and we can’t wait to celebrate the incredible talent of these young athletes in one of baseball’s most beautiful ballparks.”

The All-American Classic, which dates to 2003, has produced more major league stars than any other All-America game. Some of MLB’s most popular current players have played in Perfect Game’s All-American Classic including names such as Bryce Harper, Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt Jr., Gerrit Cole, Freddie Freeman, Francisco Lindor and Zack Wheeler, among many others. Of the 1,126 players that have participated in the previous 22 All-American Classic games, 850 went on to become MLB Draft selections, 293 of whom were first-round picks (10 went first overall). Additionally, 305 former All-American Classic players made their MLB debut with five of them winning the MVP award, 11 being named Rookie of the Year and 22 of whom have won a Gold Glove.

Perfect Game will release additional details about the 2025 All-American Classic as the year progresses, including player rosters, coaches, the weekend schedule, community activations, special guests and more. Fans and players alike can look forward to another unforgettable showcase of the best in high school baseball. Stay tuned to PerfectGame.org and PG’s social media channels for continuing updates on the 2025 DICK’s Perfect Game All-American Classic.

The 2026 class is one of the best in recent memory for the state of California, with 18 players ranking among the top 100 in the Perfect Game national rankings.  Three PG All-Americans, IF Trey Ebel, OF Isaiah Hearn and RHP Logan Georges were all edged out of places on the California All-Region Team as a result.  And although the 2027 class doesn’t look as deep, it does feature three Top Six players in SS Dylan Seward, LHP Jared Grindlinger and SS Carter Hadnot. Not surprisingly, California high schools are very well represented in the Perfect Game Pre-Season Top 50 rankings, particularly with 2025 Trinity League champion St. John Bosco beginning the season as the top ranked team in the country.  A very deep Orange Lutheran squad holds down the third spot in the rankings, with 12th ranked De La Salle being the top team from Northern California.  Corona (17th),...

PG Draft: Mid-Major Picks to Click

Tyler Henninger

While Power 4 prospects tend to soak up the bulk of the industry buzz, there’s plenty of legitimate talent lurking at the mid-major level. These are competitive programs that are loaded with players who have real tools, physicality, and performance track records that translate beyond their conference. Below are nine mid-major prospects we expect evaluators to be in early and often on this spring. Ethan Norby, LHP, East Carolina (Rank: 155) Norby is an undersized left-hander, but has produced strong numbers over two years at ECU. The left-hander has produced a 3.80 ERA with 182 strikeouts over 149 1/3 innings. While the velocity does not stand out, Norby can still miss bats with the heater. It works in the low-90’s and creeps towards 95 mph at times. Quality extension for his size and high spin allow that offering to get on hitters, resulting in weak contact as well as whiffs....

Georgia has its usual depth of high-level athletes and Perfect Game All-Americans, although three 2027 players did make the All-Region team.  There are an unusual number of two-way prospects among the All-Region players, a testament to the big arms that the state has right now. Two Georgia high schools are ranked in the top 10 of the PG Pre-Season High School Top 50 rankings and the Georgia high school ranks are annually among the most competitive in the country.  Etowah is the highest ranked team at 5th overall, while Blessed Trinity Catholic checks in at 8th.  Parkview is the only other Georgia team in the top 50, holding down the 34th spot.   OF-RHP Dexter McCleon Jr will be fixture on the Georgia All-Region team for the next two years but the top ranked prospect in the 2028 class will have to take a back seat to his elders this year.  McCleon’s absurd...

Baseball Meets Hollywood For Great Cause

BASEBALL MEETS HOLLYWOOD FOR A GREAT CAUSE    There’s no crying in baseball, but there is laughing, and there was lots and lots of it -- for a great cause -- last Saturday night in Hollywood, California. Perfect Game and its Believe in Baseball Foundation assembled a star-studded cast of comics and guests for the inaugural “In the Spirit of the Game” dinner and auction. The event was held at the iconic Laugh Factory, a historic venue that, in baseball terms, would be equivalent to Dodger Stadium or Wrigley Field. Late-night superstar Jay Leno took a turn on stage. So did comedic aces Tiffany Haddish, Nikki Glaser, Dustin Ybarra and Gary Cannon. “It was 4 ½ hours of straight laughter,” said PG commissioner Dennis Gilbert, still beaming a couple of days later. “It was a really nice success.” No one kept score at the event, but...
