MLB Draft Board: 2025 Top 300

It’s the draft season again, and the MLB Draft Lottery has taken place, so what better time to throw darts at the board and run through a mock draft? We’re just over seven months from the 2025 MLB Draft, which will run July 13-15th, and we have the official draft order, with the lottery taking place.

Last year, the Cleveland Guardians rose to the top of the board with a 2.0% chance of getting the first overall pick. This year, it was the Washington Nationals who took home the first overall pick, with the Los Angeles Angels coming in second overall. However, the Seattle Mariners nearly stole the show and moved up to the top spot but came in at third overall during the lottery, still giving them quite the jump.



We also launched our Top 300 Perfect Game Draft Board this week, diving into the draft season and giving a better look at this 2025 draft class. The cycle is well underway at this point, and a lot can change between now and July, with the college and high school seasons nationwide. But our initial draft board is live, and what better time than to jump in with a Mock Draft, offering some way-too-early predictions on how things might unfold in next summer’s draft?

That said, let’s dive into it…
 
1. Washington Nationals- Ethan Holliday, SS, Stillwater HS (OK)

Following his brother Jackson’s footsteps, who was selected 1:1 by the Orioles in 2022, the younger Holliday goes first overall to the crosstown rival Nats here. Ethan is more physical than his brother at this point and possesses more power potential that he can tap into with ease. The young left-handed slugger is the most notable name in this year’s class and is the current favorite to be first off the board. -Tyler Henninger

2. Los Angeles Angels - Jace LaViolette, OF, Texas A&M

With the second overall pick, we’ve got the Angels selecting the Aggies star outfielder to join an exciting crop of outfield talent in the organization. Jace LaViolette is a contender to be 1:1, and if not, he will be off the board soon after, given his supreme upside. He’s a massive frame with tons of power upside, and scouts believe he has a chance in center at the next level; if not, he’s a premium corner outfielder. - Tyler Kotila

3. Seattle Mariners- Jamie Arnold, LHP, Florida State

A dream scenario here after the Mariners having Arnold fall to their lap after rising all the way to No. 3 in the lottery. With Seattle's pitching development and integration on the professional and amateur side, landing the top arm on our board with three potential 60-grade or better offerings is immense. -Isaiah Burrows

4. Colorado Rockies- Tyler Bremner, RHP, UC Santa Barbara 

Bremner put up impressive numbers during the 2024 season, establishing himself near the top of the collegiate arms. The right-hander can run the fastball up to 98 mph with 20” of ride at times. The changeup and slider are lethal pitches off the fastball and could both wind up as plus offerings. The arsenal and pitchability have the making of a dominant arm. -TH

5. St. Louis Cardinals - Brendan Summerhill, OF, Arizona

A sneaky name to know early in the ‘25 cycle is Brendan Summerhill, who we have off the board at five to the St. Louis Cardinals. Summerhill had a huge summer on the Cape and has been a performer for the Wildcats. With a pro-body and plenty to like at the dish with the ability to impact, he could quickly move into the Top 5 in next summer’s draft. - TK

6. Pittsburgh Pirates- Xavier Neyens, 3B, Mount Vernon High School (WA)

The Pirates have quickly developed a system of high end amateur bats in recent years, and they stay the same route here with arguably the best hit/power tool set in the amateur class. Neyens' upside highlighted by gaudy left-handed power and feel to hit combined with his athleticism and plus arm on the left side can be a good fit. -IB

7. Miami Marlins- Seth Hernandez, RHP, Corona HS (CA)

Hernandez becomes the first prep arm off the board here to the Marlins. The right-hander features a starters frame at 6-foot-4 with plenty of projection remaining. The fastball sits in the mid-90’s and will flirt with triple digits at times. A dynamic changeup plays well off the fastball, while a potential plus curveball shows 12-6 action with spin rates over 3000 rpm. Hernandez has an obvious high ceiling and checks the boxes you look for in a top tier prep arm. -TH

8. Toronto Blue Jays - Kruz Schoolcraft, LHP, Sunset HS (OR)

The Blue Jays scoop up one of the premier talents in this year’s class and LHSP1, taking Kruz Schoolcraft at 8th in our Mock. Schoolcraft’s upside speaks for itself – he’s a southpaw up to 97 mph with plus off-speed who re-classed and still sits atop the board. Not to mention the 6’8/230 frame that projects for worlds of upside. - TK

9. Cincinnati Reds- Aiva Arquette, SS, Oregon State

Great value here for the Reds as Arquette has the skill set to go even higher than this with power up the middle. One of the more toosly college bats at this point, he's a good athlete to stick on the dirt with loud right-handed power and improved plate discipline following a big showing at the Cape. -IB

10. Chicago White Sox- Cam Cannarella, OF, Clemson

Cannarella may not stand out physically on the field, but can make a loud impact on both sides of the ball. The left-handed hitting center fielder possesses some of the best bat-to-ball skills in the entire class and has generated some sneaky pullside power despite being undersized. Plus speed allowed him to swipe 24 bags his freshman year and plays extremely well in center field where he will stick long term. -TH

11. Athletics - Devin Taylor, OF, Indiana

The Athletics pick up Devin Taylor, just outside the Top 10, picking up a bat who has performed well in the Big 10 with the Hoosiers in his first two seasons. Taylor hits the ball hard and does damage in the zone, with stats to back it up. He’ll patrol the outfield for the Hoosiers once again with upside around this spot in the first round heading into 2025. - TK

12. Texas Rangers- Marek Houston, SS, Wake Forest

Texas sticks to the college route and grabs a good one in Houston who is pretty tooled up across the board. He's a plus defender and one of the better defenders in all of college baseball with ease to his game. The swing decisions and improved walk rate bode well to the hit tool, and don't be surprised to see more power in store this spring as he has the bat speed to meet balls out front. -IB

13. San Francisco Giants- Luke Stevenson, C, North Carolina

Stevenson is the first catcher and the first sophomore eligible player off the board here. The Tar Heel backstop is the best all-round defender behind the plate in the class. The receiving continues to improve and a plus arm is a true weapon. At the plate, above-average left-handed power carries the offensive profile, while the swing decisions are still being refined. -TH

14. Tampa Bay Rays - Eli Willits, SS, Fort Cobb HS (OK)

The Rays grabbing Eli Willits at 14th overall is a testament to the buzz surrounding the Oklahoma-native. He’s a player who’s moved up many boards and shown off a lot to like at the plate on the circuit. Willits has garnered real interest, with a premium operation and smooth left-handed stroke – also handling shortstop with conviction he’ll stick up the middle at the next level. - TK

15. Boston Red Sox- Kayson Cunningham, SS, Johnson HS (TX)

Just a tremendous addition here to an already loaded system for the Red Sox. Cunningham is arguably the best pure hitter in the class with so much polish and innate feel with real bat-to-ball skill. He's a twitchy athlete and good runner who projects up the middle on the dirt, finding a hit tool this good at 15 screams value. -IB

16. Minnesota Twins- Nick Dumensil, OF, Cal Baptist

Dumensil had a strong 2024 campaign and carried it over into a dominant showing at the Cape in the summer. The profile possesses an intriguing mix of hit and power potential, although an aggressive approach can lead to some swing and miss at times. Dumensil stole 26 bases over the summer and was caught just once. The plus speed gives him a chance to stick in center field, although he may have to slide over into a corner spot long term. -TH

17. Chicago Cubs - Ike Irish, C, Auburn

Ike Irish has been a player with draft buzz since he stepped onto campus at Auburn. The left-handed hitter has serious juice and has started to tap into it at the collegiate level. We’ve got the Cubs grabbing Irish at 17th, sticking to their collegiate talent narrative of recent years. - TK

18. Arizona Diamondbacks- Billy Carlson, SS. Corona HS (CA)

This one is fun, as the D-Backs stay on the west coast and land one of the higher upside talents in the class. Carlson is the best defender in the prep class and up there with anyone, he's every bit of a plus defender and a 70-arm across that even reaches upper-90s on the bump. The hit tool and budding power showed out this summer on the circuit, and if the bat continues to trend upward he may not make it here. -IB

19. Baltimore Orioles- Caden Bodine, C, Coastal Carolina

The Orioles have targeted college bats with five of their last six first round selections and get another one here in Caden Bodine. The switch-hitting backstop is one of the best pure hitters in the class, showing advanced barrel feel and strong contact skills. The power has yet to be shown consistently, although more could potentially be developed with a swing path adjustment. -TH

20. Milwaukee Brewers - Ethan Petry, OF, South Carolina

The Brewers taking Ethan Petry at 20th overall feels pretty on par with some of their recent picks, like Wilken in ‘23 and even Blake Burke in the comp-round last year. Petry’s got serious juice and has performed well in two seasons with gaudy numbers from his freshman campaign. Another loud performance from the Gamecocks standout could raise his stock even further. - TK

21. Houston Astros, Cameron Appenzeller, LHP, Glenwood HS (IL)

It has been years since Houston has dipped into the prep arm ranks, but it breaks the mold with Appenzeller available. He's an easy low-to-mid-90s lefty with three pitches and a bender slider from a unique arm slot and difficult angle. The upside in his frame combined with the strike throwing this year makes him a high end talent. -IB

22. Atlanta Braves- Ethan Conrad, OF, Wake Forest 

Conrad to the Braves here would make it a second straight year a Wake Forest transfer goes in the first round, coming over from Marist after two strong years. The outfielder possesses a potential above-average hit tool from the left side, showing a simple swing with an aggressive approach. The frame has the strength to generate average power, although Conrad will need to prove he can lift balls more regularly. -TH

23. Kansas City Royals - Henry Godbout, IF, Virginia

The Royals scoop up Henry Godbout at 23rd overall after a breakout sophomore campaign from the middle-infielder. His .372/.472/.645 slash last year has helped him garner plenty of attention. The bat-to-ball and hit-tool are what carry his profile, with athleticism on the dirt as well, likely sticking at second base long-term. - TK

24. Detroit Tigers- Dean Curley, SS, Tennessee

Detroit nabs a pretty good talent towards the back end in Curley. A real physical athlete with right-handed power, Curley hammers in-zone fastballs and produces several triple-digit exit velocities with a good chance to stick on the left side at the highest level. The tools are big and while the Tigers can lean either way at this spot, Curley seems like a solid fit. -IB

25. San Diego Padres- Brady Ebel, SS, Corona HS (CA)

Ebel would be the third player out of Corona to be selected in the first round, staying in SoCal with the Padres. A potential above-average hit tool carries the profile. Ebel shows a professional approach with a smooth left-handed swing that finds barrels regularly. There is room to grow into more power as the frame fills out. Ebel will likely slide over to third base at the next level, where a plus arm will play just fine. -TH

26. Philadelphia Phillies - Slater de Brun, OF, Summit HS (OR)

The Phillies grabbed Dante Nori with their first-round pick last year, and selecting Slater de Brun at 26th seems plausible. De Brun has established himself as one of the elite athletes in this draft class, with some of the best speed and hitterish actions that make him an extremely intriguing prospect who could sneak into the back half of the first round next July. - TK

27. Cleveland Guardians- Trent Caraway, 3B, Oregon State

The Guardians use their first round pick on an Oregon State Beaver for a second straight year, going with Trent Caraway. Caraway got off to a hot start last spring before facing an injury-plagued freshman campaign. Now healthy, he showed his dominance once again this fall. Advanced strength and plus bat speed result in a heavy barrel that generates loud contact often. There is plenty of raw power that stands out to the pull side and will only continue to show up in-game more regularly. It is one of the better collegiate bats on the entire west coast. -TH

28. New York Mets- Kyson Witherspoon, RHP, Oklahoma

The Mets lean more into the college side once again here and land one of the better arms on the board. Witherspoon is an ultra athlete with a starter's build and arsenal, rounded out by a mid-to-upper-90s fastball, potent two-plane slider and developing upper-80s changeup. The traits can really pop this spring after a good 2024 showing in the spring and summer. 

29. New York Yankees - Nolan Schubart, OF, Oklahoma State

The New York Yankees grab Nolan Schubart at 29th overall, picking up an outfielder with tons of power upside and a left-handed stroke that will make an organization quite happy. The juice has shown for Oklahoma State, and an organization will fall in love with the bat and upside at the plate. - TK

30. Los Angeles Dodgers- Gavin Fien, 3B/OF, Great Oak HS (CA)

The Dodgers have a bevy of options and can go either prep or college, but they stay close to home and land a high end in-state prep talent. Fien is a naturally strong athlete fit on the left side defensively with right-handed bat speed and power. He simply hits balls hard and made plenty of contact on the circuit this year. -IB

The calendar is just days away from being flipped over to 2026, and while the players may be on break, it’s clear that they are just itching to get back on the field and compete once again, with another season of college baseball right around the corner. All-Star Game Continues To Thrive We’re only a couple of years into having the PG All-Star Game around, an underclass event attached to the All-American weekend, this year played in Petco two days before the Classic. The talent that is a part of it continues to grow to significant levels, and this year was a mix of young guys and some newer names that left lasting impressions. The LSU Tigers Win It All Again For the second time in the last three years, the LSU Tigers, led by head coach Jay Johnson secured the national title. The national championship was the eight in LUS program history as they swept Coastal Carolina in the MCWS championship series. As a result, Johnson was virtually a unanimous choice for National Coach of the Year on media outlets and is the fastest coach to win multiple CWS championships at a single school. IMG Academy Takes Home the National Title Every year IMG Academy comes into the spring with top-to-bottom one of the top rosters in the country and every year have the expectation of winning the national championship.
