Ike Irish is a 2022 C/1B, OF with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Hudsonville, MI who attends Hudsonville. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned nicely throughout frame. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, taller stance behind the plate during drills, sits well in game and gains ground with lower half coming out of crouch, arm strength is a real weapon with carry and strength down to second base. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a toe tap trigger and hip turn at top for timing moving into contact. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball and incorporates physical strength well with loud jump off the barrel when squared. Gets closed moving into contact, some whip to the barrel coming through the zone with present bat speed, occasionally opens front side early, juice to pull side plays. Excellent student. Verbal commitment to Auburn.
