MLB Draft: Early Season Movers

MLB Draft Board Updated: Top 300

Charlie Condon, Sophomore, CIF/OF, Georgia
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 8

Condon has been off to an absurd start to the season. Listed as a 1B/OF on our board in the last update, he’s adding to his resume in 2024, playing a good amount of third base. From the looks of it, the Bulldogs are committed to having him play the hot corner, and he’s seemingly adjusting well. The noise he makes at the plate has already caught the attention of many, and it feels like he will climb further up the draft board in the next update. Condon’s slashing .532/.617/1.191 with 8 homers and 15 RBI over 47 at-bats, not to mention he’s been hitting the ball over 100 & 110 mph routinely, and the impacts are really helping him stand out early this spring.

Colin Summerhill, Senior, C/OF, Northern Illinois
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: NR

Summerhill may not be on our draft board as things stand, but he’s a Mid-American Conference standout who’s backing up a loud 2023 performance with his success early this spring. Summerhill has slashed .347/.421/.878 with 7 home runs and 21 RBI to his credit. He’s playing more of an outfield role for the NIU Huskies this year and has looked the part. Summerhill’s a right-handed hitter with a simple, fluid stroke, staying short and simple to contact. He’s someone who can leverage, and he’s punished some baseballs this year with his 7 home runs thus far. Keep an eye on Summerhill as the spring continues.

Blake Larson, LHP, IMG Academy
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 55

Larson has started to garner some attention after heading down to IMG Academy, coming out this year proving a point. He’s been up to 96 mph this spring and was at the PG High School Showdown, where he showed another quality outing. His command was shaky later in the outing, but he’s improved this spring. His 3,000+ RPM slider with low-80s velocity has also been an absolutely filthy part of his arsenal. He’s showing off some seriously impressive stuff, and the TCU commit is looking to continue proving that this spring. Larson’s got a projectable frame that teams will dream of moving forward.

For More on Larson, check out the PG HS Showdown notes here.

Dean Moss, OF, IMG Academy
Draft Eligible: 2025 | Draft Board Rank: 9

While Dean Moss is not a 2024 draftee, he’s making some noise for himself on the 2025 Draft Board. Moss has already seen himself stationed in the Top 10 on our board and has continued to prove why he is one of the top prep talents in the draft class with his play this spring for the IMG Academy Ascenders. Moss went to PG High School Showdown and again showed off that premium bat. He showed prowess in the batters’ box and had some seriously impressive impacts that made noise this spring even before the PG High School Showdown. Keep an eye on Moss this spring to get a head start on the 2025 Draft Cycle.

For More on Moss, check out the PG HS Showdown notes here.

Drew Burress, Freshman, OF, Georgia Tech
Draft Eligible: 2026 | Draft Board Rank: 3

Last but certainly not least is Drew Burress. The true freshman who has made noise throughout college baseball and likely some major league front offices after ending up at Georgia Tech after a highly touted prep career. Burress has been absolutely raking this spring, and he was no. 3 on our board coming into the spring. Burress has hit .419/.500/1.233 with a D1-leading 9 home runs. He also has six doubles and a triple. It’s been pure dominance in the box from Burress, a true freshman. He’s become a name to watch and has made quite a name for himself early on in this spring.

-Tyler Kotila

Theo Gillen, SS, Westlake HS | Sawyer Farr, SS, Boswell HS
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: Gillen: 95 Farr: 133

Theo Gillen (2024, Austin, Texas) and Sawyer Farr (2024, Fort Worth, Texas) were prep standouts in Texas this past week. Gillen has started the high school year of hot with several extra-base hits and stolen bags. He’s healthy and the tools are jumping off the page. It’s an enticing power/speed tool set that should garner plenty of early round interest. On the other hand, Farr has been on a potent power display hitting balls far beyond 400 feet. The frame has always been a lot to dream upon, and it’s starting to fill out real well. It’s a strong prep switch hit tool with some real budding power upside that’s showing up big. Both are able bodied defenders who should stick on the left side of the dirt and the bats have really shown up.

Greysen Carter, RHP, Vanderbilt
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 131

Carter, of Vanderbilt, ran it up to 100 and sat 94-97 out of the bullpen this past weekend at the Houston Astros College Classic. It’s one of the more physical 6-foot-4 frames with immense arm talent. The velo ramped up each inning and he flashed a hard 86-89 mph split-changeup that dropped and offered a different look along with a short mid-80s slider. It’s easy velo and a power arm that’s awfully enticing come July.

Camden Kozeal, INF, Vanderbilt
Draft Eligible: 2026 | Draft Board Rank: 43

Kozeal was the top bat in looks this weekend for Vanderbilt and has a real polished hit tool for a true freshman. It’s all fields contact and immense zone awareness from the left side. He wore the cover off the ball and went deep to the pull side. He will be a good follow for the ‘26 draft and is an impact bat right away for the Commodores.

Luke Holman, RHP, LSU
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 42

Holman, of LSU, is the Friday starter on a loaded staff, and for good reason. He went 5.2 shutout frames of 3-hit ball against Texas and displayed a 3-pitch mix that missed bats at will. The 91-93 mph fastball plays up from an uber deceptive release point. His slider has real bite in the low-80s that flashes plus. He worked in a tight 12-6 curve, as well. It’s three pitches with command and poise, and Holman will have an upward arrow come next update.

-Isaiah Burrows

Cody Schrier, Junior, SS, UCLA
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 81

Schrier is in his third year as the Bruin’s starting shortstop and currently on pace to put up the best numbers of his career. After 11 games, Schrier has posted .364/.451/.568 slash line. A simple right-handed swing shows quick bat speed and some sneaky power for a slightly undersized frame. The profile will continue to be hit-over-power, but the ability to draw walks has seen an improvement. Schrier already has nearly half the amount of walks he recorded a year ago in a third of the games played. Continuing to show he is healthy will be key for Schrier this spring as he looks to rebuild his draft stock.

Colby Shelton, Sophomore, SS, Florida
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 63

Shelton transferred to Gainesville after a stellar freshman campaign at Alabama and has put up even better numbers so far. The Gator’s shortstop has posted a 1.223 OPS with five home runs and nine walks across the first 11 games of the year. A simple swing at the plate is willing to drive balls where they are pitched with plus power showing to all fields. The on-base ability and power potential make for a high-end offensive profile that will draw plenty of interest as a draft-eligible sophomore.

Carter Johnson, SS, Oxford HS (AL)
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 33

Johnson entered the year as a potential first round selection and has done nothing but help his stock since. The Alabama prep shortstop features a smooth left-handed swing that consistently finds barrels. Johnson put together a hitting clinic at the PG High School Showdown, recording seven total hits and posting a 1.134 OPS. The hit tool, approach, and athleticism look to be the makings of a very early pick this summer.

Duce Gourson, Junior, 2B, UCLA
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 184

Gourson has flown a little bit under the radar during his collegiate career, but continues to make noise and the plate. Gourson has posted an OPS near 1.000 up to this point in the year and shown an intriguing mix of on-base ability and power from the left side of the plate. Gourson has walked the same amount of times he has struck out and the power looks to be up a tick from last year. It is likely a second base profile defensively, but the offensive ability will warrant an up arrow in the next draft board update.

William Schmidt, RHP, Catholic HS (LA)
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 48

Schmidt is making a strong case early this spring to be the top prep right-hander off the board come draft time. The righthander features an uber-projectable build at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds with loud stuff present. Schmidt dominated at the PG High School Showdown striking out 12 hitters across five innings of work. The fastball works up to 96 mph, while a hammer curveball shows spin rates near 3000 rpm. The stuff, spin profile, and projectability will warrant a significant bump in the next draft board update.

For more on Schmidt, read about his performance at the High School Showdown here.

Cam Caminiti, LHP/OF, Saguaro HS (AZ)
Draft Eligible: 2024 | Draft Board Rank: 19

Caminiti entered the year as the top prep arm on the board and has showcased exactly why during a dominant start to the spring.  The left-hander has recorded a 0.60 ERA with an absurd 30 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings of work. An overpowering fastball has been up to 98 mph, showing why it is one of the best pitches in the entire prep class. Feel for a sweeping slider and changeup have both been shown and can keep hitters off balance. If the performance on the mound isn’t impressive enough, Caminiti has gone 8-for-16 at the plate with four extra-base hits and nine walks to go with it. The profile has one of the highest ceilings in the entire draft class and should result in an early selection this summer.

For more on Caminiti, read about his performance in the High School Notebook here

A rather unknown for me and my staff going into the event, Tabler managed to cement himself by event’s end. It’s a true two-way projection at this stage, while he has the size in the 6-foot-3 long and loose frame, the strength will continue to add on to the 175-pound stature. While he only had two extra-base hits (triple, home run), the bat-to-ball skills were the calling card, and...
