What Happened:
First year Interim Head Coach Bryan Peters lead the Dirtbags to 2.5 wins (there’s no tying in baseball!), winning both Friday and Saturday night and battling to 17 inning 3-3 tie on Sunday.

Carrying Tool:  Young pitching.  The underclass arms really stepped up for the Dirtbags over the weekend series.  Josh Donegan got the ball Friday night in the fourth inning out of the pen and threw up three zeros in efficient fashion only needing 30 pitches.  Sophomore lefty Myles Patton got the start in game 2 and shook off a shaky first inning to go 4 2/3 innings posting 10 punch outs.  Sophomore Kelllan Montgomery started game 3 of the series, going 5 strong allowing just 1 run.  Freshman Owen Geiss made his collegiate debut on Sunday in the 17 inning marathon and tossed 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball.

Concerns: Too early to tell, but after putting up a ten spot in game 1, the Dirtbags went on to score 3 runs in game 2 and 3 runs in the 17 inning affair on Sunday. The offense lost Jonathon Long, Connor Burns, and a few other key bats and will need to find their offensive identity with some new faces slated to have key roles in the lineup.

Best Player on the Field: There were a lot of solid performers over the weekend, especially on the mound, but, for  best on the field I’ll go to a bat in Cole Santander.  Santander came up clutch on Saturday night with the a missile to the wall in left center field that drove in two runs that gave the Dirtbags the lead.  He drove in all three runs in that 3-2 victory.  He added a solo pump in the Sunday marathon game and finished the weekend with an OPS of 1000 with 5 runs driven in.
