Class of 2027 National Rankings '27 OF Nico Moritz-Toledo (VA) wastes no time & goes hunting on 1st pitch for a leadoff base hit. Twitchy & truly dynamic runner, immediate threat when on the paths. #Hokies commit #WWBAWorlds @PG_VirginiaWV pic.twitter.com/6j7qzabUnH — Perfect Game Scout (@PG_Scouting) October 6, 2025 Nico Moritz-Toledo, OF, Battlefield HS (VA) Previous Rank: 35 | Current Rank: 21 Moritz-Toledo jumped 14 spots following a huge fall and year of 2025 overall. The Virginia Tech commit batted a ridiculous .579 across 38 at-bats down in Florida at the WWBA World Championship tournaments. The outfielder is a 6.32 runner and clocked a 3.5 home to first on a bunt in Fort Myers. The speed is game changing, always a threat on the paths. He is a constant threat on the basepaths, swiping 10 bags and coming around to score 17 times over the two fall tournaments....

Wolforth Throwing Mentorship: Article 60

The Velocity Trap In my opinion, too many parents, athletes, and coaches treat velocity enhancement like a scavenger hunt. “Look…I found velocity online!" "We discovered the secrets to velocity at our local academy!" "We're going to Texas in search of more 'pop' on our fastball!" But in the quiet of our minds, we KNOW something is wrong with this approach. Deep in the logical, reasonable side of our brain, we know there's no quick fix or instant solution to consistent, long-term, high-level performance. Elite performance is a deliberate process. It can't be hacked, cheated, or duped - no matter what's promised on Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok. Good coaching can accelerate the process, but true skill development takes time. It takes intention and attention. We KNOW in our hearts that sustainable velocity gains require arm health and durability. Period. Full stop. We can't HOPE...

Holden Hering, RHP, Class of 2025 | Bear Calvo, SS & Charlie Sarsfield, OF, Class of 2027 Commitment: Arkansas At the time of this writing, the Razorbacks had three players locked up in the time frame of which I typed it up, but they've since added Jorvorskie Lane Jr. (below) and Logan Doran, who we'll talk about in next week's notebook. All that said, what a flurry of commitments for Dave Van Horn and his staff as they landed a true baseball player out of California in Calvo, arguably the biggest riser of the fall in Sarsfield and perhaps the best JUCO prospect in the country with Holden Hering, a former Perfect Game All-American.  A 6-foot-5 hurler who's currently at national powerhouse Weatherford, Hering certainly looks the part of a weekend arm out on the mound and he has the arsenal to back it up, showing mid-90s on the heater as part of a real four-pitch mix that...

PG Softball Indoor Scouting Showcase

BURLINGTON, IA - 2025 Perfect Game Softball Indoor Scouting Showcase, November 1 - 2, 2025, saw 15 teams participating in our first indoor showcase of the season, in a four game guarantee round-robin format. Teams utilize this time of year to both finish up their competitive playing season, as well as those that are just gearing up and beginning their season that will take them through the Winter into Spring. There were several talented uncommitted players on-site that took advantage of this opportunity to put their skills on display, which earned their way onto the Top Performers list. Below are some highlights of those athletes that rose to the top. 16U DIVISION Avery Head (2028 Normal, IL) is an athletic R/R, 1B for Bngsa Angels 15u. Head starts from a slightly open stance, working back to parallel with her stride as a timing mechanism and to gain separation. She does well getting the...
