Most Likely To Make a Huge Jump in the Rankings in 2023:

Danny Wallace, OF/RHP, La Vista, Nebraska
You don’t come across many athletic, high level two-way talents with on field production that matches the talent at such a young age. The top rated 2025 in Nebraska however, is one such find. A sub 6.75 runner in the sixty yard dash with the above average arm strength that has been clocked at 89 from the outfield, he certainly possesses the traits to profile at all three outfield positions. The hand speed and direct hand path in his compact swing gives him exceptional plate coverage and ability to impact the baseball as well. His 14/6 walk to strikeout ratio in Perfect Game tournaments in 2022 over 67 plate appearances bode well for his future as well. Overall he hit .490 with seven extra-base hits on the 2022 circuit and brought home the 15u WWBA Midwest MVP Award. It doesn’t stop there though on the mound he’s shown a three pitch-mix with a fastball up to 87, a change-up and an overhand curveball with depth that he can throw for strikes. There’s a ton to like about the currently uncommitted 2025 from Nebraska and it’s a skill set that could get see him fly up the player rankings a year from now.

Colton Sims, 3B, Leawood, Kansas
An uncommitted third baseman with one of the purest right handed swings in the entire 2025 class. A physical six-foot-two frame with the combination of strength and bat speed in his swing that impact the baseball to all fields. There’s both plate coverage and pitch recognition that should help him continue to develop the hit tool and get to the above average power more frequently in the coming years. Players that can really hit and project as middle of the order bats at the next level really stand out and Sims is one of those. After a high school season where he performed well against older competition and a strong summer he’s well positioned to make a jump in the rankings within the next year.

Most Likely To Hit .500 at PG Events in 2023:

Ethan Holliday, IF, Stillwater, Oklahoma
Not really going out on a limb much here as Holliday is among, if not the most talented hitter in the 2025 class right now. He’s consistently on time, and has a loose and fluid swing through the baseball while at the plate. He’s already shown not only the ability to hit to all fields but to hit to all fields with some power. While all the physical tools are certainly there it’s likely going to be the nuances of hitting like pitch recognition, working counts and the competitiveness to not give away any at-bats that give him an opportunity to hit .500 in 2023. If he does so, it’s not likely going to surprise anybody.

Most Likely To Make a Velo Jump Into the Mid-90s in 2023:

Kash Mayfield, LHP, Elk City, Oklahoma
A 6-foot-4 left handed pitcher with the athleticism and loose, synced up delivery that saw him run the fastball up to 90 this past summer. The ability to repeat the athletic movements in the delivery consistently combined with the hip separation and arm speed suggest there’s some velo gains to be a had, and a jump into the mid 90’s being a very real possibility. Mayfield posted a 40:2 strikeout to walk ratio over sixteen innings on the mound in Perfect Game tournaments in 2023. If a jump into the mid 90’s is added to that equation, the Oklahoma State commit becomes a rising draft name for the 2024 class.

Drew Rerick, RHP, Fargo, North Dakota
A physical 6-foot-5 right hander that was up to 89 this past summer, he has the strength and arm speed to continue to add velo as an upside 2024 arm. Made a velo jump from the upper 70s in 2021 to the upper 80s in 2022. Putting him right on track to make another realistic velo jump into the mid 90s at some point in 2023. The righ-hander has the makings of a power arm with an impressive combo that is committed to the University of Missouri.

Most Likely To Back Up a Breakout in 2022:

Anson Seibert, RHP, Overland Park, Kansas
A year ago Seibert was an intriguing arm with a projectable frame that worked mostly in the mid 80’s with the fastball and showed some feel for an off-speed repertoire. In 2022 he helped his high school to a state championship, committed to the University of Tennessee and absolutely blossomed into an elite prospect on the mound. He’s now a physical six-foot-eight right hander with a fastball up to 95, the ability to spin a breaking ball above 2500 RPM and real feel for turning over and commanding a low 80’s change-up. He struck out all six batters he faced at the PG Underclass All-American Games and now ranks as the top arm in the entire 2024 class. 2022 was a breakout year for Seibert and there are no signs of him slowing down anytime soon.

Most Likely To Lead the Region in Home Runs in 2023:

Kale Fountain, IF, Lincoln, Nebraska
The video above gives plenty of evidence that Fountain possesses plenty of power. A physical right-handed hitter with strength and leverage in the swing. He has the ability to hit the ball out to all fields and did set the Nebraska Class B State record for home runs with eleven in 2022. Hit well at big events last season and showed the ability to handle velocity at the plate. The LSU commit should get to his power enough in games next season to lead the region in home runs in 2023.

Performance Baseball Rolls On

Kinley Kitchens
Article Image
Championship teams often reveal themselves when the game isn’t going their way. Performance Baseball 2028/Milwaukee Brewers Scout Team did exactly that. Trailing Florida Burn 2028 Scout through four innings, the Brewers refused to panic. Instead, they relied on timely hitting, consistent pitching, and an unselfish approach at the plate, rallying a five-run fifth inning before pulling away for a 9-5 victory to clinch their spot in the semifinals. The comeback was fueled by contributions throughout the lineup. Six different players drove in runs, including two RBIs each from Aiden Capobianco and Cameron Massey, while Matthew Heredia, Parker Weston, Ethan Smith, and Aj Bonnette each added an RBI of their own. On the mound, Derek Wenzel set the tone with 3.2 solid innings before Ethan Smith shut the door in relief, helping preserve the comeback victory. Although the Brewers have had a...

Kinley Kitchens
Article Image
On the second day of the 2026 Perfect Game National Elite Championship, one swing turned heads across the ballpark. The next one brought everyone to a stop. With Wow Factor Nation 16U trailing midway through its matchup against Sandlot Scout Team 2028, Micheal O'Connor launched a solo home run to spark the offense. Just one batter later, Aaron Frink stepped into the box and sent another ball over the fence, delivering back-to-back home runs that quickly became one of the most talked about moments of the tournament’s opening days. Parents gathered along the nets, players from previous games stopped to watch, and college scouts turned their attention toward the action as the two towering swings energized the crowd and brought new life to the game. Although Wow Factor Nation ultimately lost 5-3 after a hard-fought performance, the back-to-back home runs served as a reminder of the...

17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4  Day 5 | Day 6 Shea Corona (2027, Brooklyn, N.Y.) showcased some loud stuff out of the bullpen for MLB Breakthrough Series 2027. The New York native and primary shortstop topped out at 93 with the fastball, sitting comfortable in the 90-92 range. Corona paired it with a sharp and tight slider at 81-83, staying on the same plane until late. The pitch plays well already and the delivery is very athletic. The uncommitted right-hander went three scoreless and was in the zone plenty, striking out two while not allowing a walk. '27 SS Moises Gudino (FL) continues to stay red hot, working a long AB & cracking an oppo 2B on the 8th pitch. Flames Natty used timely hitting and a dominant start from Beau Collier to defeat NLB American 7-3 and capture the 18U BCS National Championship on Monday at Lee Health Sports Complex. Despite being assembled just hours before the tournament began, the Flames quickly developed chemistry throughout the tournament. “This team was put together 12 hours before this tournament, and they went on a crazy run,” head coach Adam Vasquez said. “These kids know each other locally, but they don’t play together. For them to come together last minute like that, it’s crazy. I’m proud of them for that.” The game opened as a pitchers’ duel, with David Acevedo recording the lone hit through the first two innings. NLB American starter Hayden Graham kept the Flames in check early, allowing just one hit while striking out one over 2.0 innings. The right-hander...

Fresh off a state championship for Bading High School, he has picked up where he has left off this spring. It seems that he gets bigger each time I see him, but the frame really works on both sides of the ball at 6-feet, 190-pounds. It’s athletic and the actions on both sides are extremely advanced. Sawyer took home MVP honors after finishing with nine hits, six going for extra bases including two home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored. It’s electric at...

Austin Lyons (2028, Cibolo, Texas) put on a display for Canes Southwest Prime 16U. Went 7-14 at the plate with a pair of doubles and triples, while driving in 13 runs. He won Tournament MVP for his efforts. Physical left-handed frame with feel to hit to all fields. Utilizes the middle of the field as well as the opposite field efficiently. Should be a force to be reckoned with as he grows into some more power. Evan Rosales (2027, Houston, Texas) was dominant on the mound for HP 2027 Allen. Went five shutout innings over the weekend, surrendering just one hit and two walks while striking out ten. Fastball lives 83-87 with some carry. Curveball is a heavy 12/6 downer at 69-74. North-south approach with a super steep release. Showed some really good feel for the zone and sequenced effectively to keep hitters off balance. Tristan Wright (2028, Magnolia, Texas) put on a show for Banditos 2028...
