Recruiting Notebook: November 23

Camden Farina, RHP, Class of 2025
National Rank: 500 | Commitment: University of California, Santa Barbara

UCSB continues to grab high in-state talent, adding to a solid 2025 class with Farina. The right-hander has tons of projection remaining in a lean build with present arm talent. His fastball was up to 87 mph this summer, living mid-80s with good life from a long, high three-quarter slot. Feel for a slider and quality changeup as two solid off-speeds with some good feel to spin for his class. The slider is a sharper offering with late bite and depth. Farina is a big grab for UCSB with plenty of development left in store. Keep a close eye on this one.



Jarett Sabol, C/OF, Class of 2025
National Rank: 65 | Commitment: USC

The Trojans have really hit the recruiting trail hard this fall and winter, and they landed one of the top talents in the class in Sabol. He’s a physical backstop with projectable power and tools on both sides. It’s a pretty explosive left-handed swing with backside intent and loud pull-side strength at impact. The power is budding and will only continue to fill out. Sabol has athletic traits and solid catch-and-throw skills defensively. He’s a very intriguing profile with big upside in the stick. USC has added to its classes, and Sabol fits the mold of another impact player coming to campus.

Jackson Robinson, LHP/1B, Class of 2026
National Rank: 254 | Commitment: South Carolina

South Carolina nabbed one of the top arms in the Coastal region. Robinson really impressed in looks this fall with feel for a three-pitch mix. It’s a sound frame with more physical projection in store. Fastball was up to 85 this year from a full, in-sync operation. But the feel to spin is what really opened eyes with a sharp 1-7 breaking ball and firm changeup to the glove side. He goes to both consistently and mixes tempos awfully well to play off heat. It’s a real enticing product with good tempo and ease to the release. The Gamecocks got a big addition to their 2026 class with Robinson to the mix.

Ethin Bingaman, RHP/MIF, Class of 2025
National Rank: 500 | Commitment: Cal Baptist

Cal Baptist grabbed a promising two-way talent in Bingaman. The arm talent stands out with a potent fastball/curveball combination. He was up to 86 mph with a real 12-6 curveball that has tight shape and depth. He fills the zone with plenty of conviction. Bingaman can hold his own defensively at short with softer hands and clean transfers. He shows good strength to pull with strong hands in the path. Bingaman is a projectable arm to build upon with solid two-way ability. He’s a good fit at Cal Baptist.

Michael Quedens, LHP, Class of 2024
National Rank: 446 | Commitment: Michigan

Michigan grabbed one of the top left-handers in the class in Quedens. The fastball was up to 87 mph showing good amounts of carry with upwards of 22 inches of IVB. He shows feel for a slider mid-70s slider with late bite and a firm changeup with fading action. Quedens creates a bit of late angle from a higher three-quarter release and lands consistently on-line in his delivery. The stuff has a good chance to really tick up with more in the frame. He’s a big competitor with feel from the left side. Quedens found a new home in Michigan.

Donald Sho Garcia, MIF/RHP, Class of 2024
National Rank: T1000 | Commitment: Georgetown

The Hoyas venture into California and nabbed a solid two-way product in Garcia. He’s a sound defender up the middle with nice feel for the leather and a good amount of carry across. The actions looked comfortable this summer and there’s a good chance he sticks up the middle on the dirt long term. Garcia makes solid all-fields contact with a nice linear path and steady hands. He gets on plane and lets the barrel work. He can also hop on the bump and show a high-80s fastball with a some feel for a promising breaker. Garcia is a solid two-way product who can make a big impact on campus.

Jack Sweeney, OF, Class of 2024
PG Rank: 500 | Commitment: Rutgers

Sweeney is the latest in-state commit for the Scarlet Knights, as Coach Owens and his staff have made sure they keep homegrown talent in New Jersey. Sweeney is a twitchy athlete with tons of physical upside remaining. He performed well throughout 2022, as he made stops at some of the bigger events on the PG summer circuit. He possesses a good understanding of the strike zone and taps into his power in-game action by generating tons of leverage out in-front. The Cream Ridge, New Jersey native recognizes spin well and uses the entire field well, while showing the ability to create easy carry. He can navigate all three outfield spots well, as he runs a 6.8 sixty and covers ample ground from gap-to-gap. He will join an exciting group of 2024 grads for the State University of New Jersey as they look to continue building recruiting classes with the immense in-state talent.

Ian White Jr., RHP, Class of 2024
PG Rank: 500 | Commitment: East Carolina

White is certainly an exciting addition to an already loaded 2024 class for Coach Cliff Godwin and the Pirates. He joins a bevy of prospects, as the entire recruiting class is ranked in the Top 500 of our latest Class of 2024 Rankings. The strong, durable built right-hander showed well at this summers Jr. National showcase before producing an outstanding outing at the 16U WWBA National Championship. It’s a starter’s assortment of pitches with high spin data and more velocity in the tank. White utilized a fastball that worked in the upper-80s, peaking at 90 mph, and showing the aforementioned high spin rates in the 2600 RPM range with the pitch. He paired it with a sharp, late biting slider that regularly showed spin rates in the high 2800s. He completes his mix with a faded change that generates some swing-and-miss. Overall command will dictate his ultimate ceiling but all the ingredients are surely there for him to provide immediate innings upon arriving on campus.


Matthew Kouser, RHP, Class of 2024
PG Rank: 500 | Commitment: Fairfield

Kouser becomes just the second commit for the Stags in their 2024 class, as they usually keep their classes relatively small and address immediate needs. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound right-hander possesses some of the more intriguing upside in-terms of physical projection and things to dream on. He steadily works in the mid-to-upper-80s now and has peaked at 90 mph recently but the frame can carry loads more strength and it will be fun to watch how much more velocity he can gain. He tunnels his three-pitch mix extremely well with his curveball showing both horizontal sweep and vertical tilt to it, while being able to land it for strikes effortlessly. He completes his repertoire with a replicated changeup that he deployed against both right-handed and left-handed hitters effectively. The upside is sky high as he continues to add strength and refine his repertoire. Look for him to be an immediate impact upon setting foot on campus.
 
Sachem Ramos, RHP, Class of 2023
PG Rank: 500 | Commitment: Michigan

Ramos becomes the latest commit for new Head Coach Tracy Smith and the Wolverines, as they look to restock their roster. Ramos was outstanding over the course of this summer and fall, as the quick armed right-hander amassed a 1.40 ERA across his 19 1/3 innings. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Massachusetts native is an athletic mover down the slope and possesses some of the better arm speed we saw this summer. He regularly worked in the upper-80s throughout each of his outing and even touched the low-90s at times in brief spurts. He mixes in a sharp, late biting slider that generates tons of swings-and-miss, while completing his arsenal with a firm changeup that has slight fade to it. It’s a lower release height, data darling repertoire of pitches that can easily be optimized and become even better. Look for Ramos to continue refining his three-pitch mix and will be a fun name to monitor when he becomes draft eligible in three years.

Jake Keaser, MIF, Class of 2026
PG Rank: 279 | Commitment: Virginia Tech

Keaser becomes the first commitment in the 2026 class for Coach Szefc and his staff, as they have been hot on the trail with regards to the 2026 and 2027 class of late. The twitchy middle-infielder has battled some injuries this past year but is fully healthy now and will only continue to get better. It’s a dynamic offensive skill set with good feel for the barrel and the ability to affect the game in multiple ways. Defensively, he has a quick first step and plenty of lateral range to man the middle right now. He possesses smoothness to his actions and has the ability to make the difficult play look easy with his athleticism. He will assuredly continue to add strength, which will only expand his offensive skills and should be exciting for years to come as he matures.

Jack Bauer, LHP, Class of 2025
National Rank: 83 | Commitment: Virginia

It's not surprising to see the Hoos land a high end left-handed arm given their track record of success in committing southpaws and the 6-foot-3 Bauer certainly as the stuff and long term projection to develop into a top of the class type arm. Bauer is still newer to the national scene compared to some of his peers but following an eye opening showing this fall, he catapulted up the rankings to his current spot of 83 overall. There's no mistaking the athleticism on the mound nor how well the arm works through the backside, already peaking in the upper-80s (89 mph) with plenty more in the tank. We've seen the coaching staff expand their reach some in this 2025 class with their top two recruits coming in right-hander Thomas Stewart out of Colorado and Bauer, of Illinois, and it's quite the duo of arms to build off of moving forward as the Cavs appear to be in good shape already for 2025. 

Andrew Costello, C, Class of 2026
National Rank: 19 | Commitment: Wake Forest

A two-time pick to the Perfect Game Select Festival, Costello is one of the more physical players you'll find in the 2026 and with that strength, comes an array of tools that check in amongst the best in the class. Costello, who's listed at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, was a constant force on the national circuit this past summer and he seemed to come up clutch when he was needed the most, constantly putting the ball in play with serious force behind it. The pure bat speed ranks as some of the best you'll find in the country and that, combined with his natural barrel feel and high level strength, allows him to scorch baseball foul line to foul line while showing the ability to adjust to the pitcher's game plan. He's just as impressive behind the plate as he received high end arms all summer with the Canes National club and his arm strength is yet another weapon, giving a true well-round skill set with which he can impact a game.  

Ronin McCraw, SS, Class of 2026
National Rank: 93 | Commitment: Texas A&M

Whatever you may be looking for in a prospect, odds are McCraw will show it to you in any given look as the newly minted Aggie commit has been a constant on the national scene for a couple seasons now. The Texas native stands at a strong 5-foot-11, 170 pounds and despite the physicality he's a plenty good runner as he showed with a 6.85 in the 60-yard while bringing that foot speed into his gameplay, whether up the middle on defense or on the bases as we saw with his 57 swipes in 2022. The defense is just as impressive in the dirt as he shows off high-end athleticism and range, getting to balls others can't while putting plenty of arm strength on display across the diamond. He's a left-handed stick with a simple enough operation that he's able to repeat very well stroke-to-stroke, getting the barrel on the ball at a high frequency while showing an uptick in strength this past summer as his 5 triples and 3 home runs were both PG career bests and points to an upward trend moving forward for McCraw.

April 14th Perfect Game/Player of the Week:  Jaquae Stewart, INF/OF, Texas State  The Texas State Bobcats (24-12) are sitting in second place in the ultra-competitive Sun Belt Conference, and they have one of the most explosive offenses in the country.  They average right at 8-runs per game and can slug with the best of them, averaging almost 2-home runs per game as well.  Sitting in the middle of the order, Jaquae Stewart, is putting together a career year and is becoming the focus of opposing teams.  The 5-10/234 junior from Sinton, Tx is your classic lefthanded power hitter and is thriving in his move from Austin to San Marcos.  While it wasn’t the best week for his club, Stewart was sensational, collecting 8 hits in his 19 at-bats, scoring 5 runs, launching 5 home runs and driving in an insane 17 runs.  For the season, he is now slashing...

PG has announced the dates for Prospect Gateway events across the country - unique opportunities for young players to receive professional feedback and prepare for the next level. The Prospect Gateways are for players ages 13U-14U and serve as a qualifier for the National Showcase. Kevin Schuver, the senior director of showcases at Perfect Game, said these events are chances for players to step out of their comfort zone and show what they’re really made of. “Perfect Game Prospect Gateways aren’t just events. They’re doorways into something bigger.
