Nehomar Ochoa Acosta (2023, Houston, Texas) had a weekend really representative of what he has become as a prospect, as he did a lot of loud things and showed that he still might be just scratching the surface of what certainly looks like a monster profile for the highest level. He’s lauded for his power in the 6-foot-4, 200+ pound frame and he’s really starting to get into it more consistently, hitting two pretty massive bombs on the weekend, both being to the pull side and going a good bit into the parking lot. He seemed to be on the barrel a lot and his only struggles came when he tried to press against getting pitched around. Monday morning he took the mound and was as impressive as we’ve seen him, living 90-93 with a ton of life working downhill for three innings while showing a much improved breaking ball spinning it with real conviction in the upper-70s and showing that he has a true out-pitch with it. He’s young for the class and has some of the best upside of anyone making him certainly a must see this spring.
