WWBA West Qualifier Scout Notes: Days 1-2





AJ Diaz (2024, Gilbert, Ariz.) put together a strong event, showcasing intriguing tools on both sides of the ball. The Arizona commit features a strong build capable of producing loud contact at the plate. Plenty of torque gets generated within a fairly simple swing. A lofted path and good feel for the barrel allow balls to be driven with authority into both gaps, resulting in frequent extra-base hits. Defensively, Diaz has shown he can handle himself at shortstop. Sound feet allow for range in both directions, combining with confident hands that catch the ball well. There is plenty to like within the profile with quality production to show for it.
