17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

Getting the day started over at Marietta High School was right-hander Jim Johnson (2023, Charlotte, N.C.) for the South Charlotte Panthers. The, soon-to-be-not uncommitted right-hander had quite the audience of college recruiters when he went three innings of one-hit ball while striking out eight hitters in the process. Johnson worked up to 91 mph and had a compact operation with some deception, hiding and sinking the ball in the process. Johnson tunneled his slider and changeup out of similar slots but dominated this outing with the fastball as he held that upper-80s velocity for the entirety of the quick outing.
