Estevan Moreno, 3B, Montini Catholic (Ill.)

It wasn’t the most productive of looks at Moreno as he finished the game 0-for-2 with a pair of walks but there are definitely some things to be intrigued about and he shined on the defensive end across the entirety of the look. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds and looks every bit that physically but may be even more athletic than what that size may tell. He’s likely a third-base prospect long-term but he plays shortstop at this level and does so well with ease in how he moves around the dirt, the range to make the plays at the high school speed of the game and very easily a plus arm which will allow him to succeed over at the hot corner. His overall body control stands out and it allows him to take some explosive hacks at the dish. He’s strong and pretty explosive at the dish generating excellent bat speed and enough to be able to drive the ball well even when he gets on his front side. There’s some swing-and-miss concern that knocks the profile a bit now but if he makes it to Notre Dame, he’ll have plenty of time to get that part of things cleaned up and is a guy that very well could mold into a double-digit home run impact guy for them and end up getting paid well out of the college ranks in 2025 if he doesn’t go now.
