Canes Bats Bully 14u Fall World Series

SANFORD, Fla. -- Canes National 14u found themselves in a 2-0 hole three innings into the championship game at the 14u PG Fall World Series, a situation foreign to them at that point in the tournament.
 
Canes National had scored 68 runs through their first six games, a 6-0 win in the semifinal contest being the only game in which they hadn’t scored double-digit runs.
 
So it came as no surprise when they hung five runs on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning in the championship game to take the lead at 5-2, and another nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to push their lead to 14-3.
 
The surprise, if there was one, was that Burn Atlantic 14u Navy had only allowed five total runs through their first six games leading up to the championship game against Canes National.
 
The production came from all over the lineup, with seven different players combining for the team’s 10 hits, and eight different players driving in at least one run.
 
Andrew Costello, the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2026 class, had a pair of hits and two RBI out of the cleanup spot in the Canes National lineup. He also scored two runs. Colton Haire, The No. 6 overall prospect in his home state of North Carolina and the seven-hole hitter for the Canes, matched Costello’s production with a pair of hits and two RBI of his own.
 
Costello ended up with the MVP trophy for his work. He hit an other-worldly .765 (13-for-17) with an equally video game-like 2.112 OPS thanks to his four doubles, triple, and home run. He also scored nine runs and drove in 18.
 
Brady Murrietta was the high-man in the RBI department with three, split between a two-RBI double in the fourth inning that gave his team the lead at 4-2, and walked with the bases loaded in the seventh for another.
 
The Canes also got a big contribution from Alex Harrington, the No. 14 overall player in the 2026 class. Harrington, hitting out of the two-hole, had a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs, and jumped on the mound for the last 4 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out three.
 
Brayden Harris, the No. 19 overall player in the 2026 class and a member of the dominant Burn Atlantic 14u Navy pitching staff, was named co-MV-Pitcher of the tournament. In Burn’s semifinal matchup against 5 Star National 2026, Harris tossed all seven innings, allowing just two earned runs in the team’s 3-2 victory, striking out nine in the process.
 
Canes National’s Carson Bolemon, No. 42 overall in the class, shared the award with Harris. In his team’s semifinal win, Bolemon threw five innings and gave up just one hit while striking out 10.
