Class of 2027 Rankings Risers

Complete Class of 2027 Rankings

With the end of the summer and fall seasons behind us, it was time for a quick refresh of the 2027 class rankings. Below you'll be able to read about some of the biggest risers up the board, led by North Carolina outfielder John Hucko who jumped more than 110 spots to now sit at No. 20 overall.

John Hucko, OF, Charlotte, N.C.
Previous Rank: 132 | Current Rank: 20

Hucko makes a huge leap into the top-20 players in the class after a dominating showing in Jupiter. It’s as good of a left-handed swing as you’ll come across with pretty easy impact to all parts. He’s a supreme athlete with all the tools to play center long term and is a present plus runner. Hucko is a name that cemented his prospect status in Jupiter and will be a name to follow for next year’s MLB Draft.

Elyjah Mason, SS, Lake Forest, Calif.
Previous Rank: 71 | Current Rank: 25

Mason was another huge winner in Jupiter last month as he put together a ridiculous tournament offensively, hitting north of .420 with two homers and three doubles. It’s easy to dream on the physical upside at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds and just how outlandish the power will be when he adds some physicality. He’s a versatile defender as well to go along with having some of the biggest upside in the class.

Christopher (CJ) Wall, C, Statesboro, Ga.
Previous Rank: 97 | Current Rank: 42

Wall has continued to solidify his prospect status over the last calendar year and capped his travel ball career with one of his best showings, taking home MVP honors in Jupiter. He hit .455 against some of the toughest arms in the country, including a homer, four doubles and twelve RBI. This is quite simply one of the best hit tools in the class and the bat will be the carrying tool for quite a while. It’s elite barrel awareness and contact skills, tapping into massive pull-side power on the circuit this year.

Demarcus Lowery, OF, Knoxville, Tenn.
Previous Rank: 122 | Current Rank: 45

Lowery was the buzzy name in Jupiter last month and had a flock of pro scouts scouring to his at-bats each time he got in the on-deck circle. It’s the prototypical modern-day draft profile that has gone very high in recent years. He’s got every tool imaginable, he’s a plus-runner and athlete overall, takes quality at-bats, has power and can play center. Oh and he’ll also still be 17 years old on draft day.

Moises Gudino, SS, Tampa, Fla.
Previous Rank: 113 | Current Rank: 57

Gudino was a standout at the WWBA National Championship over the summer and just continued to rake in Jupiter, hitting .357 with a homer and a double. This is one of the more reliable hit/power profiles in the class and has performed at every major stop this calendar year. He’s got left-side of the infield defensive tools as well with the carrying tool being the elite left-handed bat.

Will Richardson, LHP, Trussville, Ala.
Previous Rank: 324 | Current Rank: 122

It could be argued that Richardson came out of Jupiter as the biggest winner in terms of arms. 6-foot-5 lefties don’t just grow on trees and especially not ones that sit comfortably in the 91-94 range with plenty more coming very soon. There’s an ease of effort here with the fastball sizzling out of the hand, the slider is quality in the 77-80 range with power traits as it firms up even more. He also showed a fading change to round out the mix. This is one that shot up the rankings but also shot up the draft boards in Jupiter.

-Cam McElwaney

Alexander Kakach, RHP, Plymouth, Minn.
Previous Rank: 437 | Current Rank: 191

Has turned himself into a legitimate prospect over the past few months. The right-hander from Minnesota showed quality stuff on the mound at events over the summer but entered another level with the stuff this fall. A fastball at 90-94 in back-to-back tournaments and a full compliment of off-speed offerings that are potential out pitches. An upper 80’s cutter, a low to mid 80’s slider that was up over 3000 RPM at times, a curveball with vertical depth in the upper 70’s and a firm fading change-up that is especially effective against left-handed hitters. Blends athleticism, arm speed, pitch shapes and competitiveness. Has gone from relatively unknown to a legitimate 2027 MLB Draft prospect pretty quickly. Committed to Creighton.

Cooper George, LHP, Long Beach, Calif.
Previous Rank: 432 | Current Rank: 94

Another pitcher that saw a significant stuff jump from the summer to this fall. From pitching in the upper 80’s in July to the 90-94 range in short bursts this fall. Would have been difficult to throw the baseball much more effectively than he did in Jupiter this fall tossing 3.2 scoreless innings over 2 appearances and striking out 9 batters. Second Jupiter appearance he struck out all 4 batters he faced. There’s a sharp breaking ball with vertical tilt that is especially effective to left-handed hitters that gets a high rate of swing and miss. There’s remaining projection, high quality stuff and he’s left-handed. The look of a potential MLB Draft prospect for 2027. Committed to TCU.

Braylon Sheffield, IF, Fort Myers, Fla.
Previous Rank: 114 | Current Rank: 90

An infielder that can move around the diamond and has a smooth left handed swing. Had a big fall and showed significant development in the ability to hit for power with 3 HR’s at fall events. Has always shown pure hit traits and an advanced approach at the plate but the increased power output from the left side helps this one rise in the rankings to a new top 100 player in the 2027 class. Committed to Virginia.

Ian K. Wicklund, OF/LHP, Pearl City, Hawaii
Previous Rank: 446 | Current Rank: 290

A 2-way talent that showed especially intriguing ability on the mound this fall. Showed a low 90’s fastball and a sharp curveball with depth at a tournament in Chicago in September and then upped that to a fastball into the mid 90’s in Jupiter. Not a lot of players combine the ability to reach the mid 90’s from the left side on the mound and have the athleticism to play centerfield. Hit .333 with 5 hits including a triple in events this fall as well. Committed to Hawaii.

Kowen Rader, RHP, Juaniata, Neb.
Previous Rank: 495 | Current Rank: 407

A highly projectable right-hander with a present full pitch-mix and lot more to grow into. Listed at 6-3/170 and moves very well on the mound with controllable athletic movements in the delivery. Pitched consistently in the 89-93 range with the fastball in both tournaments played in this fall. Slider shows high spin traits with at times sharp horizontal break. Change up in the low to mid 80’s is a usable third pitch that could take another step forward with further development. A rankings riser this fall and as one of the more projectable arms in the midwest region for 2027’s this may be just the beginning. Committed to Nebraska.

-Blaine Peterson

Jake Cueto, OF, Miami, Fla.
Previous Rank: 73 | New Rank: 37

Cueto shined both at 17U WWBA and at Jupiter this year, finishing with a .625 AVG at the latter flashing top of the class tools. The 5-foot-11, 175 pound Miami commit is the definition of a quick twitch athlete and plays the game with effortless ability, displaying advanced contact tool with limited swing/miss to be found in the stroke. Cueto will almost certainly be a topic of conversation as the draft discussions heat up come Spring.

Jalen Bowman, OF, Phoenixville, Penn.
Previous Rank: 117 | New Rank: 96

You won’t find many prospects in the nation who can match the pure speed tool of NC State commit Jalen Bowman, who continues to build his resume on the national stage. The 5-foot-11, 175 pound prospect covers tons of ground in the OF and is a threat to beat out pretty much anything put in play offensively. He’s obviously a high level, well-rounded athlete who now creeps into the top 5 in PA and T100 across the country.

Roman Derichsweiler,  C/UTL, Dallas, Texas
Previous Rank: 415 | New Rank: 119

One of the biggest climbers in the class, Roman Derichsweiler has one of the smoother left-handed strokes in the country with plenty of pop on display. The 6-foot-3, 220 pound Arizona commit showed off the juice production on multiple occasions throughout Jupiter and has plenty of evident physicality present in the frame. He’s got loud traits that are becoming more and more well known, so don’t expect this to be the last time you hear from the Dallas native.

Nate Kesselmark, RHP, Weston, Conn.
Previous Rank: 500 | New Rank: 157

Another huge mover, Kesselmark was one of many premier arms on display down in Jupiter with electric stuff in the arsenal. Already comfortably in the 90-94 range, the 6-foot-3, 180 pound RHP has tons of projection to dream on with one of the higher velocity ceilings you’ll see for the future. He features a FB/SL/CH mix and locates effectively, making for one of the more refined arms in the New England region and country as a whole. He now slots into the T35 RHPs in the nation with the stock continuing to trend up.

Joey Dimeo, SS/MIF, Toms River, N.J.
Previous Rank: 338 | New Rank: 183

Another athletic name out of the Northeast, Boston College commit Joey Dimeo had plenty of eyes on him to end the Fall and for good reason. The 6-foot, 185 pound kid has pretty much everything you could want in a potential prospect, flashing speed and defensive reliability with the hit tool continuing to grow and become a true force. He displayed both contact and power potential down in FL and is going to be a feature name to watch when the Spring rolls around.

-AJ Denny

Ryan Ulrich, SS/RHP, Elizabethtown, Penn.
Previous Rank: 500 | Current Rank: 201

Ulrich soared in the latest rankings update following a huge fall that spanned across three tournaments. The two-way talent showed out with the stick while also showing great upside on the mound. Ulrich’s hands work well and he has some thump to go along. He raked all year long, batting .431 with three homers across 30 PG games in 2026. The Pennsylvania native impressed with a live arm and velocity that comes easy, looking electric in his Jupiter outing. Ulrich got the day one start for Dirtbags 2027 National on day one and tossed three no-hit scoreless innings, striking out four total. The fastball sizzled in the 91-95 range, missing plenty of bats with it. He went to an upper-70s 11-5 shaped curveball as the go-to secondary. The uncommitted prospect is an intriguing two-way athlete who took a significant leap forward on the bump this fall.

Collin Romanczuk, RHP, West Chester, Penn.
Previous Rank: 500 | Current Rank: 239

Romanczuk made just about as loud of a statement as he could have in Jupiter. The towering 6-foot-7, 205-pounds recorded all six outs via the strikeout over two scoreless frames. The right-hander brings a great blend of stuff and projectability to the table. The fastball lived 90-92 from a low effort release while filling up the zone. Romanczuk showed a pair of very promising secondaries in the slider and splitter. The slider featured hard biting two-plane break to miss barrels in the 80-83 range. The splitter missed bats as well at 83-84 with late depth. The Northwestern commit is a high upside arm and already has the the ability to pitch and sequence.

William Nolet, OF, Saint-Gilles, Q.C.
Previous Rank: 500 | Current Rank: 356

Nolet mashed across two tournaments in Jupiter over the fall. The outfielder is built at a strong and physical 6-foot-3, 195-pounds and batted third in a strong Canadian Premier lineup, spending time mostly in right field. The Weatherford commit went 5-for-9 in Jupiter while batting .474 (9-for-19) over the two weeks in Florida. Nolet showed huge thump and power upside as well, collecting five extra-base hits, including two homers. The loudest came on a big grand slam in game one of pool play, soaring over the left field fence. The process is simple, creating lift and leverage with excellent strength that plays all fields, regularly showing comfort impacting the ball backside. Nolet is a masher and checks a lot of boxes as a young power hitter.

Scott Wins MVP Two Ways

Jim Salisbury
Article Image
PHILADELPHIA – When the folks at Perfect Game reached out to invite him to pitch in the 2026 PG All-Star Game for rising sophomores and juniors, Cullen Scott had one request. “You mind if I get a couple of at-bats, too?” Along with his dad, Scott traveled from the family’s home in Texas to Citizens Bank Park. The trip proved to be a huge success as he starred on the mound and at the plate and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. Scott, 16, pitched a scoreless first inning and struck out two. In the fourth inning, he belted a grand slam six rows up into the left-field seats to lead the National team’s 6-1 win over the American team. “He showed us why he’s here as a pitcher and a hitter,” said Greg Sabers, PG’s vice president of scouting and showcases. "He’s one of the top pitchers here, but he’s too good a...

2028: Under-the-Radar Names to Know

Joey Cohen
Article Image
2028 Post-Circuit Dive: Under-the-Radar Names to Know One of my favorite parts of the calendar comes after the summer and fall circuits have wrapped, when I can finally sit down, dig through our tournament performance data and uncover some names that may have slipped through the cracks. With hundreds of events on the schedule and thousands of players coming through them, there's inevitably going to be talent that I or even our collective staff haven't given enough attention to. For this exercise, I wanted to isolate a particular offensive profile. I looked for 2028 bats who produced at a high level while keeping their swing-and-miss numbers in check across a sample of at least 50 plate appearances. On the pitching side, the approach was equally straightforward in terms of identifying arms who consistently filled the strike zone while missing bats at a strong clip. Of course, not all...

WWBA Underclass Scout Notes: Days 1-2 | Day 3 | Day 4 Stars Being Stars These are some of the more well-known names on the national landscape, playing across several big events in which they performed at the highest of levels. Their showings in Fort Myers were simply a continuation of what we've almost come to expect at this point from them!  Kasen Langerhans (2028, Round Rock, Texas) batted leadoff and stuck at the hot corner for Texas Twelve Red Sox 2028 in Fort Myers. The Texas native has the looks a young left-handed power bat and the swing is built for it. Langerhans produces easy bat speed, delivering a fast and leveraged barrel through the zone. He creates backspin and uses the ground well, really getting into the legs. The infielder has excellent power projection and took comfortable, intentful cuts in the box. Langerhans got the job done at the top of the order...

Continued to shine at the top of the lineup as the left-handed hitter is your prototypical leadoff hitter, consistently finding a way on and scoring. Takes quality at-bats with an above average awareness of the strike zone. Loose hands with easy bat speed that find the barrel often for hard line drives into the gaps that frequently turn into XBHs. South Fall World Series Scout Notes

Jay Vossler
Article Image
Kason Mead (2029, Spring, Texas) had a great weekend for Premier Baseball Donato 2029. Went 5-9 with a pair of doubles and a home run, driving in five without striking out. Physical frame with a lot more strength on the way. Impressive bat speed that attacks the top of the zone well. Works to all fields consistently and the profile indicates that he’ll be able to build off that with more impact. Lot to like, should be a riser as he goes into his sophomore season. Sterling McCormack (2029, Magnolia, Texas) performed well for Premier Baseball Donato 2029. Reached four times, including a double. Gains ground well on the stride, using his physicality to his advantage as he stays on an uphill plane, geared for slug. Plenty of strength at the point of impact. Landon Hardy (2029, Spring, Texas) had a strong showing for Scorpions Team Easton 2029. Went 4-11 with a double and homer, driving...

WWBA Freshman Prospect Recap

Stars Being Stars These are some of the more well-known names on the national landscape, playing across several big events in which they performed at the highest of levels. Their showings in West Palm were simply a continuation of what we've almost come to expect at this point from them!  Kolt Hampton (2030, Chandler, AZ) is a left-handed hitting infielder with present barrel speed and twitch in the turn. Turned around an upper 80s heater that plated two runs in the first inning of the quarterfinals and never looked back. Also got it done on the rubber punching out three and topping out at 86. The number one player in Arizona produced all week and took care of business defensively.  Landen Davis (2030, Beaufort, SC) showed up at the dish this event hitting .500 with four doubles and five RBIs. Stays tight in the turn with present strength and the approach plays to all fields....
