Evan Bert (2022, Harrisonburg, Va.), a 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, tossed four shutout innings in a start against US Elite 2022 National. The VCU commit allowed only two hits while striking out five with a fastball/ curveball combo and flashing a few changeups as a third offering. He ran the fastball up to 89 mph, sitting in the mid-80s with a changeup in the 78/79 mph range. Bert’s go to pitch was a hard curveball with tight spin and depth that he landed at will between 74-78 mph. He scattered the fastball a bit with four walks during his four  inning start, but was able to land the curveball time after time to escape runners on base and keep his line clean for the Dirtbags Scout Team in the 8-0 victory.
