JUCO Rankings Update: April 6

It only took until April, but the last of the undefeateds in JUCO baseball (at least amongst schools who have played 20+ games) have fallen. Central Arizona lost a game last week to drop them to 31-1 overall, while Johnson County met the same fate and stands at 27-1. As you can see below, neither were punished.

Central Arizona retains the top spot with that 31-1 record, and should be expected to continue rolling right along. In fact, the top-six all stayed the same following big weeks. Walters State checks in at No. 2 overall again at 37-1, with Wabash Valley right on their heels at No. 3 with a record of 29-2. LSU-Eunice continues to look like the class of the NJCAA D-II, per usual, with a record of 32-3 and No. 5 overall billing. Crowder rounds out the top-five again this week with a record of 28-4.

Eastern Oklahoma State, whose ridiculous rotation we touched on during this week's JUCO Weekly Recap on PGTV, holds steady at No. 6 with a 28-2 record. Johnson County, in spite of the loss, moved up again this week to No. 7 overall; their highest billing of the season thus far. Central Florida had a bounce-back week and jumped up a spot to No. 8, with the same going for San Jac, who moved up to No. 9. And, for the first time this season, we welcome NJCAA D-II powerhouse Pearl River to the top-10.

Per usual, the Midwest is shaping up to be a bloodbath in terms of finding a Grand Junction bid, with the three of Wabash Valley/Iowa Western/John A. Logan all ranked in the top-12. Only one of them will end up on the Western Slope, and it's going to be a fun race to the finish line to find out who that will end up being.

Our lone newcomer this week is Howard College out of Texas, who, at 22-9, has been playing quite well in recent weeks and seems geared up for a serious playoff run. Also considered for the Top 25 this week were RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.), Catawba Valley (N.C.), Western Oklahoma State (Okla.), Patrick Henry (Va.), and Miami Dade (Fla.).
