17u WWBA South Scout Notes: Day 1 & 2

Another beautiful morning greeted the players and fans in central Oklahoma as the Banditos Scout Team 2021 tangled with the Stix 2021 Red to open day three of pool play.

The Banditos Scout Team used their traditional tried and true formula of excellent pitching, air-tight defense, and timely hitting to shut out the Stix 2021 Red club, 4-0. Incarnate Word commit, Michael Ramos (2021, Rio Grande City, TX) was in total command as he threw an 87 pitch complete game shutout. His 80-84 mph fastball, while not overpowering, was heavy, sinking, and never straight. He broke more than one bat on the day. His secondary pitches are also very sound, and he can throw them in any count, to any batter, in any situation. His hybrid 68-71 mph breaking ball that he can shape in a couple of different ways, is a sound swing and miss pitch. The Rio Grande City HS rising senior also shows a mature 76 mph change-up that is thrown with fastball arm speed and shows advanced tumble at the dish. Ramos works with a sure and confident pace and a veteran’s poise. He throws a lot of strikes and gets his team back in the dugout in short order.
