Joshua Allen, lhp, Oviedo (Fla.)
There was a quality pitching duel between cross town rivals Oviedo High School and Hagerty High school.  Duke University signee, Josh Allen, took the mound for Oviedo.  The lefthander is advanced, with a rhythmic delivery, and a clean arm swing.  He is short on the back side and he hides the ball exceptionally well.  His three-pitch mix is fired from seemingly the same release and his fastball sat at 84-87, touching 88, for the duration of his outing.  The 15 swings-and-misses he got over his six innings was extremely impressive.  A lot of the swing-and-miss came from very good sequencing of his big breaking curveball in the 70-73 mph range and a very deceptive late fading changeup at 77-80.  He did not give up a hit until the sixth inning and also added a hit on the offensive side.
